akpporuḷ (p. 2) s. [ex. அகம், mind, et பொருள்.] Rules for amatory poems, அ கப்பொருள்விதி. 2. Rules for reasoning, தர்க் கவிதி. 3. mental enjoyments in love, இன் பம். 4. A book treating of mental delectation, ஓரிலக்கணம். அகப்பொருள் is developed in these three constituents, viz., 1. முதற்பொருள், primary arrangements of nature with regard to (a) நிலம், soil, in five varieties, and (b) பொழுது, time in two grand divisions. 2. கருப்பொருள், natural peculiarities incidental to each of the divisions of the soil under 14 heads viz., (a) ஆரணங்கு, peculiar gods belonging to a place, tutelary deities or penates, (b) உயர்ந் தோர், chiefs or lords of the district, (c) இழிந்தோர், subjects or inhabitants under them, (d) புள், birds, (e) விலங்கு, beasts, (f) ஊர், city or town, (g) நீர், water, (h) பூ, flowers, (i) மரம். trees, (j) உணா, food, (k) பறை, drum, (l) யாழ், musical instruments, (m) பண், tune, and (n) தொழில், occupation, trade or mode of earning a livelihood. 3. உரிப்பொருள், essential characteristics of lovers. The subject matter of this treatise, to which the two former are auxiliary or conducive, is developed in five dispositions or actions, either mental or coporal, viz., (a) புணர்தல், union or the state in which husbands and wives are together in their family, (b) பிரிதல், separation when for lawful purposes, (c) இருத்தல், the state in which they continue solitary, especially the bride, (d) ஊடல், love quarrels, (e) இ ரங்கல், weeping and lamentation in any period of their life for any cause. These five characteristics are respectively ascribed to the above five species of soil, as appropriately adapted to their nature, as புணர்தல் to குறிஞ்சி, பிரிதல் to பாலை, இருத்தல் to முல்லை, ஊடல் to மருதம், and இரங்கல் to நெய்தல். இந் த ஐந்து ஒழுக்கத்தையுங்குறித்துப் பாடும்பொழுது அத தற்குக்குறித்த திணையிலுள்ள கருப்பொருள்களையெடுத் துப் பாடுதன்முறையாம். aññāṉam (p. 7) s. [priv. அ.] Ignorance, spiritual ignorance, worldly illusion, belief in external appearances, destitution of the knowledge of the true God. This is the state of the soul from the beginning, and its condition till its மலம் is removed. When the fruits of its former actions are worked out, in sufferings and enjoyments, the soul begins to be enlightened by the grace of the Deity, its அஞ்ஞா னம் then ceases, and ஞானம் commences, increases and ripens for its union with the Deity. A person with harsh words and good disposition. அமுதசருக்கரை, s. A medicinal sugar prepared from the சீந்தில் root or stem. அமுததாரணை, s. The nectarine principle in the head or brain from which the silent, motionless devotee is supposed to obtain nutrition, support and enjoyment, when living without external food. அமுதபுட்பம், s. A creeping plant, சிறுகுறிஞ்சா, Periploca, L. அமுதப்பார்வை, s. A favorable or propitious look. as of a lady towards her admirer, குளிர்ந்தபார்வை. அமதமேந்தல், v. noun. Giving food to ascetics and other virtuous persons, guests, as one of the nine kinds of புண்ணியம், and of the sixteen உபசாரம். அமுதயோகம், s. [in astrology.] The auspicious conjunction of a certain day of the week, phase of the moon and lunar constellation. See யோகம். அமுதர், s. Celestials, வானோர். 2. Herdsmen, இடையர். (p.) அமுதவல்லி, s. A creeper, as சீந்தில். அமுதவெழுத்து, s. Letters deemed propitious and proper to begin a poem, or to be in other important places. They are the vowels, அ, இ, உ, எ, and the consonants, க், ச், த், ந், ப், ம், வ், or all the letters but the நஞ்செழுத்து. அமுதாசனர், s. The gods, as அ மிர்தாசனர். 26)

A devotional poem composed by yogis. ஆனந்தநித்திரை, s. Abstract meditation in the stat of ஞானம், on the deity, யோகநித்திரை. ஆனந்தபயிரவி, s. The name of one of the thirty-two tunes, ஓரிராகம். (p.). ஆனந்தபரவசம், s. Extacy of joy, especially in divine things. (p.) ஆனந்தபாட்பம்--ஆனந்தபாஷ்பம், s. Tears of joy, weeping from excessive joy, ஆனந்தக்கண்ணீர். (p.) ஆனந்தமயகோசம், s. Enjoying pleasure, being happy, rejoicing, experiencing, delight, being satisfied, மகிழ்ச்சிபொ ருந்தல். கண்ணுக்கின்பம், s. That which is delightful or pleasing to the eye. காதுக்கின்பம், s. That which is harmonious or pleasant to the ear. உடற்கின்பம், s. That which is pleasant to the touch. பேரின்பம், s. Heavenly bliss. சிற்றின்பம், s.
