இலீலை
ilīlai (p. 55) s. Play, sport, விளையாட் டு. 2. Amorous, wanton sport, சரசம். 3. Feminine actions proceeding from, or exciting to love, மகளிர்மோகவிளையாட்டு. 4. Personation, imitation of another, பாவனைகாட் டுகை. 5. Jesting, பரிகாசம். 6. Coition, புணர்ச்சி; [ex லீ, to embrace, et லா, to get.] Wils. p. 721. LEELA. இலீலாவதி, s. A wanton or sportful woman. இலீலாவிநோதம், s. Diversions, pastime. மோகலீலை--சுரதலீலை, s. Lascivious behavior. கிருஷ்ணலீலை, s. A treatise on the amorous play of Krishna. மகாத்துமாக்களுடையலீலை, s. The enthusiastic religious frenzy, superhuman exploits, &c., of Rishis, or other exalted human beings, ஆனந்தலீலை. ஈசுரலீலை, s. Play or exploits of Siva. பாலலீலை, s. Children's play. 2)
சமயம்
camayam (p. 162) s. A convenient, suitable or proper time; leisure, convenience, opportunity, தருணம். 2. Time, season, occasion, juncture of time; emergency, extremity, காலம். 3. Any religious persuasion, faith or system, மார்க்கம். (c.) W. p. 894. SAMAYA. --Note.. There are twelve principal religious systems, of which six are approved and six rejected by the Saiva sect. 1. உட் சமையம், or the six systems considered orthodox by the Saivas are. 1. வைரவம், making Bhairava supreme. 2. வாமம், regarding the female principle in nature, as the primeval form of deity, and teaching the worship of the generative female organ. 3. காளாமுகம், similar to the வாமம். 4. மாவிரதம், teaching that the deity is a pure spirit. 5. பாசுபதம், similar to மாவிரதம். 6. சைவம், Saivism, which teaches that the deity is both spirit and matter; assuming forms for accomplishing his purposes. II. புறச்சமயம், or the six heterodox systems; viz.:-- 1. உலகாயதம். A species of Atheism regarding sensual gratifications as the chief good, as taught by the atheistical school of Charvaka. 2. புத் தம். Bhuddism, which rejects the notion of a Supreme being, maintains that all material existences proceed from a fortuitous combination of the four primitive elements, (earth, water, fire, and air,) and that mental phenomena are the mere results of organization. It regards Bhudd as a deified teacher and object of worship. 3. சமணம். The Jaina system which is a modification of Bhuddism, and regards Argha as the deified preceptor and object of worship. 4. மீமாஞ்சை. A system that regards Brahm as the soul of the universe. 5. பாஞ்சாரத்திரம். A system taught by Vishnu, during five successive nights. 6. பாட்டாசாரியம். The system of Battacharya whose followers regard the Vedas as god, and consider that virtuous actions of themselves result in felicity. III. Other systems derived from these twelve or in some respects similar to them are very numerous, some of them are கபாலம், சவுத்திராந்திகம், யோகசாரணம், ஆத்துமிகம், வைபாடிகம், நிகண்டவா தம், நையாயிகம், வைசேஷிகம், பதஞ்சலியம், சாங்கியம், சித்தாந்தம், வேதாந்தம், &c. The six orthodox systems among the Vaishnuvas are 1. யாதவம், that of Yádava Misra. 2. மாயாவாதம், that by Sankarachárya. 3. இரணியகர்ப்பம், that by Hiranyagarbha. 4. இராமானுசீயம், that by Rámánuja. 5. பாஸ்கரம், that by Bhaskara. 6. தத்துவவாதம், that by Mádhavácharya. சமயகருமம், s. Rites and duties of religion, மார்க்காசாரம். சமயகாரியம், s. Questions, matters, &c., of theology; religious concerns, subjects, &c. சமயக்கட்டு, s. Religious obligation. See கட்டு. சமயக்கொள்கை--சமயக்கோட்பாடு, s. Religious opinions, tenets, &c. சமயசாத்திரம், s. The theology of a sect. 2. Religious writings or shastras. சமயதீட்சை, s. The ceremony of initiating a disciple in the mantras, &c., peculiar to the sect. See தீட்சை. சமயத்தார், s. The followers of a religious system. சமயங்கடக்க, inf. To transcend all religions--as the supreme being. (p.) சமயநிந்தை, s. Scoffing at religion, profaneness, blasphemy, &c. சமயநிலை, s. The commands, tenets of a religion. 2. Religion as observed, believed, practised, &c., by its professors. சமயநூல், s. The religious writings of a sect. சமயப்பற்று, v. noun. Attachment to a religion. சமயபத்தி, s. Religious devotedness to a creed. சமயபேதம், s. Heresy, heterodoxy. 2. Diversity of religions. 3. Schism. 4. (c.) Unseasonableness. சமயபேதி, s. A heretic. 2. Schismatic. 3. One of another religion. சமயப்போலி, s. A spurious system of religion. (p.) சமயப்போக்கு, v. noun. The substance, scope, &c., of a religion. (Little used.) சமயமதம், s. Bigotry, enthusiasm, conceit in religion. சமயமதங்கொண்டாட, inf. To be enthusiastic, to act the bigot. சமயமானம், s. A natural regard to one's own religion. (c.) 2. (Rott.) Constancy or firmness in a religion. சந்நியாசிக்குஞ் சாதிமானஞ் சமயமானம்விடாது.... The ascetic who has relinquished every thing will not relinquish his caste or sect. சமயவாதம், s. Religious controversy. சமயவாதி, s. A disputant for religion. 2. A professor of religion. சமயாசாரம், s. The rites and ceremonies, of a religion according to a prescribed institute. 2. Religious practice, observance of rites. (c.) சமயாதீதன், s. The supreme Being-as transcending all religions, சமயங்கடந்த கடவுள். (p.) சமயி, s. [com. சமயத்தான்.] A religionist, a sectarian, the follower of any religion, sect, &c., a sectary. (p.) சமயமாயிருக்கையில், [adverbially.] At a particular juncture, in an emergency. சமயங்கடத்த, inf. [prov.] To while away time, to loiter. சமயங்கிடைக்க, inf. To obtain an opportunity. (c.) சமயங்கெட்டவேளை, s. An unseasonable time. (Limited usage.) சமயத்துக்குதவ, inf. To help in an emergency. சமயம்பார்க்க--சமயந்தேட, inf. To watch an opportunity. சமயாசமயம், s. Urgent or pressing occasion, unfavorable opportunity. (c.) தற்சமயம், s. The very juncture or moment. 2. A special opportunity. நற்சமயம், s. A good opportunity. சமயந்தப்பிவந்தான். He came unseasonably. சமயத்திலே கையைவிரித்தான். He refrained from helping in time of need. 2) *
நம்பி
nmpi (p. 270) s. A superior person, a young man, a gentleman, a poetic term of respect, ஆணிற்சிறந்தோன். 2. [also நம்பியான்.] The son of a brahman by a mother of the military race, married in the இராக்கதம் mode, and a worshipper of Vishnu, அரசர்மா தைப் பார்ப்பான் இராக்கதமணஞ்செய்யபிறந்து விட்டு ணுவையருச்சிப்போன். 3. A title of some Vaishnuva gurus. (c.) நம்பியாண்டார்நம்பி, s. A brahman poet in the Carnatic. He wrote the கலித்துறையந்தாதி, treating of the legends of அறுபத்துமூவர். He was an enthusiastic admirer of சம்பந்தர், and wrote two poems in his praise, ஓர்புலவன். 43)

piṭi (p. 314) s. Handle, haft, hilt, catch ஆயு தப்பிடி. (c.) 2. A female elephant, பெண் யானை. 3. A she-camel, பெண்ணொட்டகம். 4. A female Yak, bosgrunniens, பெண்க வரி. (சது.) 5. (c.) A hold, gripe, clutch, pinch, seizure by the hand, பற்று. 6. Firm grasp of the mind, comprehension, கிரகிப்பு. 7. (fig.) Confidence, reliance, trust, நம்பிக் கை. 8. Help, power, refuge, support, உதவி. 9. Religious belief, opinion or tenet, மதக் கொள்கை. 1. A fist, a closed hand, கை முஷ்டி. 11. A handful with the hand closed, a small quantity, பிடியளவு. பிடிகாசு, s. [prov.] A small sum kept back by a purchaser as auspicious. பிடிகாரன், s. [prov.] A fisherman by occupation மீன்பிடிக்கிறவன். பிடிகொடுக்க, inf. To suffer one's self to be taken. 2. To give a handle. 3. To speak or act so as to commit one's self, to divulge one's affairs unintentionally. பிடிகொடாதபேச்சு, Talk of which the meaning cannot be made out. 2. Abuse or irony in terms not to be taken hold of for prosecution. பிடிக்கட்டு, s. A little bundle especially of palm-leaves, tied up. பிடிக்கொழுக்கட்டை, s. A kind of கொழுக்கட்டை pastry. பிடிசுட்டுப்படைக்க, inf. [prov.] To bake little cakes and offer them to the household gods. பிடிதண்டம், s. Unjust seizure of a person. See தண்டம். பிடிநெல்லு, s. A handful of paddy, taken from each marcal by the servants at the public store, as their perquisite for measuring. பிடிநெல்லுக்கிள்ள, inf. [prov.] To take the handful of paddy for measuring. பிடிபிடியென்றுநிற்க, inf. [fig.] To hasten a business. பிடிபோட, inf. To put a handle to any implement. பிடிப்பிச்சை, s. A handful of rice given by a house-wife to the Brahmans, or other religious mendicants. பிடிப்பிட்டு, s. A small kind of confectionary, ஓர்சிற்றுண்டி. பிடிமண், s. A handful of sand. நானுன்வாயிற்பிடிமண்போடுகிறேன். I put a handful of sand in your mouth-spoken in anger. பிடியரிசி, s. Handfuls of rice taken from the daily allowance, for charity. பிடியாள், s. A person seized or taken into custody. 2. As அமஞ்சியாள். பிடியெழுத்தாணி, s. A style in a handle, usually folding and with a knife. பிடிமானம், s. Affection, attachment, fondness, favoritism, அன்பு. 2. Relish, zest; a liking, பிரியம். 3. Acquisition, money amassed, தேட்டம். 4. Frugality, sparingness, parsimony, உலோபம். Rigidness, bigotry, pertinacity, perseverance, உறுதி. பிடிமானமில்லாமற்செலவுசெய்கிறான். He expends profusely. பிடியன், appel. n. [vul.] A pot that will hold any given quantity. 2. s. A female elephant, as பிடி. பிடிவாதம், s. Stubbornness, contumacy, pertinacity, perverseness, முரண்டு. 2. Firm determination--as of an enthusiast who tortures himself till the god complies with is request; persistence, strenuousness, விடாநிலை. 3. Unyieldingness, spitefulness, வைராக்கியம். பிடிவாதக்காரன், s. An obstinate, selfwilled person. பிடிவாதி, appel. n. As பிடிவாதக்காரன். பிடிவிட, inf. To let go one's hold or grasp. 2. To become luxuriant or rank. மதச்சுவடு--மதம்பாய்சுவடு, s. An elephant's cheek from which juice flows. மதஸ்தன்--மதத்தன், s. A religionist, a follower of a religious system, சமயத்தான். மதஸ்தாபனம், s. A religious institution. 2. A polemical discussion. மதநீர், s. As மதம், 2. மதபேதம், s. [appel. மதபேதி.] A sect, சமயபேதம். மதமடக்குதல், v. noun. Bringing down or suppressing arrogance, mettle, &c. மதமத்தகம், s. The கஞ்சா plant, bang. (சது.) மதமெடுக்க, inf. To become intoxicated, to grow savage; to be voluptuous. மதமொய், s. An elephant, யானை. (சது.) மதம்பாய்தல், v. noun. Flowing out-as venereal secretions from elephants, sap from trees, or juice from the bodies of bulls, மதநீர்பாய்தல். மதம்பொழிதல், v. noun. Sporting, frolicking, wantoning. மதவெறி, s. Religious frenzy, fanatic zeal, சமயமருள். 2. Intoxication, inebriation, குடிவெறி. 3. Wantonness, voluptuousness, காமவெறி. 4. Arrogance, selfconsequence, அகங்காரம். மதாசாரம்--மதாச்சாரம், s. Religious practice, observance of religious rites, and rules, சமயவொழுக்கம். மதாபிமானி, s. An enthusiast, a religious fanatic; [ex அபிமானி.] மதாமஸ்து, s. Great madness, intoxication; indifference. (Colloq.) மதாமஸ்தன், s. [prov.] A robust, stout, corpulent man. மதானுசாரம், s. [appel. மதானுசாரி.] Observing religious rites; [ex அனுசாரம்.] மதோன்மத்தர், s. [pl.] Persons mad, insane, or intoxicated with vanity, fanaticism, &c., வெறியர்; [ex உன்மத்தர்.] எழுவகைமதம்.
