One of the eight கணம், (see கணம்,) a measure in poetry of three அசை, two dissyllabic, and one monosyllabic--as கரு விளங்காய். ஆகாசகமனம்--ஆகாயகமனம், s. Passing through the air. 2. An art supposed to be acquired by the power of incantations and magical medicaments--one of the sixty-four கலைஞானம். ஆகாசகருடன்--ஆகாயகருடன், s. A creeper, கொல்லங்கோவை, Bryonia epigea. ஆகாசகரை--ஆகாசக்கரைக்கட்டு-ஆகாசபாலம், s. A fancy, chimera, deception, மனோராச்சியம். ஆகாசகாமி--ஆகாயகாமி, s. One of the three kinds of horses--that which has power to walk through the air. ஆகாசக்கத்தரி--ஆகாயக்கத்தரி-ஆகாயவழுதுணை, s. A plant yielding an edible fruit, Hibiscus longifolius, L. ஆகாசக்கல் s. An atom from the airy regions which it is supposed strikes the eye, which does not recover till the same hour next day, ஆகாசத்திற் பறக்குமணு. ஆகாசத்தாமரை, s. A water plant, Pistia stratiotes, the roots of which float in the water, அந்தரத்தாமரை. 2. (fig.) An aerial or sky-lotus; i. e. a fanciful or ideal thing, absurdity, impossibility, பொய். ஆகாசபட்சி, s. The sky-lark, சா தகப்புள். ஆகாசமண்டலம், s. The aerial regions, வானமண்டலம். Wils. p. 13. AKASHAMANDALA. 2. A kind of dancing, ஓர்கூத்து. ஆகாசமயம், s. Emptiness, that which is void of substance. ஆகாசமார்க்கம், s. The aerial way as passed by gods, by the planets, and other heavenly bodies regarded as gods; and by men who by austerities, incantations, magical rites, &c. have acquired superhuman powers. ஆகாசவல்லி, s. A running plant, ஓர்கொடி, Menyanthes cristata. (Roxb.) ஆகாசவாசிகள், s. The inhabitants of the ethereal regions, ஓர்தேவ கணம்--One of the eighteen கணம். ஆகாசவாணி--ஆகாயவாணி, s. karuṭaṉ (p. 96) s. The Brahmany kite, கலுழன். 2. The bird and vehicle of Vishnu. He is generally represented as a being something between a man and a bird, and considered to be sovereign of the feathered race; he is the son of Kasyapa and Vinata and the younger brother of Aruns, விட்டு ணுவாகனம், Falco pondischerianus. Wils. p. 283. GARUDA. கருடகம்பம், s. A species of lamp used by one of the Vaishnava sects at religious festivals. கருடகேதனன்-கருடக்கொடியோ ன்--கருடத்துவசன், s. Vishnu, விட்டுணு, whose flag is the kite. Wils. p. 283. GARUDATHVAJA. கருடக்கல்--கருடப்பச்சைக்கல்-கருடபட்சிக்கல் s. A kind of medicinal stone or mineral taken for the bite of a snake or put on the wound with the repetition of incantations, ஓர்கல். கருடக்கொடி, s. A flag in which the picture of a kite is drawn, கருடத்துவ சம். 2. A plant called பெருமருந்து, Aristolochia Indica. 3. Another plant called குறிஞ்சா, Gymnema sylvestra. கருடக்கொவ்வை--கருடத்தொண் டை, s. A climbing plant, ஓர்கொடி Clitoria, L. கருடசாரம், s. Sea salt, சிந்துல வணம். கருடதரிசனம், s. The worship of the kite as the representative of Vishnu on special days; the sight of the bird at such seasons is deemed very auspicious, கருடனைத்தரிசிக்கை. கருடதிசை, s. East, கீழ்த்திசை-used in astrology. கருடத்தியானம், s. Devotion addressed by the enchanter to the god Garuda in case of venomous bites, கருட னைத்தியானிக்கை. கருடபஞ்சாக்கரம், s. An incantation of five letters sacred to Garuda. கருடபாடாணம்--கருடபாஷாண ம், s. A species of arsenic. கருடபார்வை, s. A squint eye, மாறுபார்வை. 2. [prov.] An expressive, penetrating look. கருடவாகனன், s. A Vishnu regarded mounted on Garuda. கருடவித்தை, s. Incantations, &c., connected with Garuda. கருடற்கண்ணன், s. [as புதன்.] The elder brother of கருடன் and son of சந்திரன். (சது.) கருடன்கிழங்கு, s. A kind of root. கருடன்தாய், s. The same as விநதை. கருடாஞ்சனம், s. Eye-salve for a person bitten by a snake, or for cases of apoplexy, விஷந்தீர்க்கக்கண்ணிலிடுமருந்து. ஆகாசகருடன், s. vākku (p. 382) s. Word, speech, வார்த்தை. 2. The mouth, as one of the five organs of the body. See இந்திரியம். [ex Sa. Vach.] வாக்கு, 4. Four different sounds; 1. சூக்குமை, the sound from the navel--the supposed source of the air, or wind which gives intonation; 2. பைசந்தி, sound from the breast or lungs; 3. மத்திமை, sound from the throat or epiglottis; 4. வைகரி, articulate sound, from the tongue or mouth. அவருடையதுநல்லவாக்கு. His poetical composition is good. அவன்வாக்கிலேகேட்டேன். I heard it from his mouth. அமிர்தவாக்கு, s. A sweet word, a word of good omen--oppos. to விஷவாக்கு. வாக்காட, inf. To say, to speak. 2. See தீட்சை. வாக்குநாணயம், s. Fidelity to one's word, unfailing fulfilment of promises. வாக்குப்பிசக, inf. To slip, in words or utterance, as the tongue in pronunciation. 2. See பிசகு. வாக்குப்புரள--வாக்குமாற, inf. To fail in a promise, to break one's words. வாக்குப்புறப்படுதல், v. noun. The coming out of words from the mouth. வாக்குமூலம், s. A deposition in which the statements of complainants, defendants, and witnesses, are taken with their signatures. 2. [as adv. also வாக்கு முகாந்தரம்.] By word of mouth; upon one's assertion. வாக்குமூலம்வாங்குகிறது. Getting one's deposition as a magistrate. (Govt. usage.) வாக்குரோசம்--வாக்குரோஷம், s. Irritation from insulting words, irascibility. வாக்குவசீகரம், s. Cajoling, wheedling, இன்சொல். வாக்குவல்லபம், s. Emphatic and powerful language, oratorial speech. வாக்குவாதம், s. A disputation, a quarrel. வாக்குவிசேஷம், s. An effective speech. வாக்குவிற்க, inf. To give a binding promise, (lit.) to sell one's words (colloq.) நானவனுக்குவாக்குவிற்றிருக்கிறேன், தவறக்கூடா து. I cannot fail, for I have promised him firmly. 18)
