An incantation in the Saiva worship, the letters of which are mystic symbols of the forms of deity, or of the idol worshipped. The words are ஆம், ஊம், ஓம், சிவாயநம, in which ஆம், is அடி, basis; ஊம், is நடு, middle; ஓம், is முடி, top; சி, is சிவம், formless deity; வா, is சத்தி, the female principle, obscuration. நடுநிலைமை, s. Zenith, meridian. நடுராசி, s. Middling in quality, size, &c., moderate, நடுத்தரம். நடுவதுபாதி, s. That which is in the midst, intermediate. நடுவதுபாதியிலேவந்தான். The middle or interior of the house where the idol is kept. 2. An obscene expression, used in the south. நடுவீடுபெருவழியாயிற்று.
