A family low in rank. எளியகொடை, s. Unworthy gifts, presents unsuitable to the persons to whom they are made. எளியது, s. That which is despicable, low trifling, &c., எளிமையானது. எளியவன்--எளியன், s. A man of low caste, a person poor, destitute, mean, &c. எளியவன்பெண்டாட்டியெல்லாருக்கும்மைத்துன ச்சி. The wife of a poor man is free of access to every body. எளியாரைவலியார்கேட்பின் வலியாரைத்தெய்வங் கேட்கும். If the powerful oppress the weak, the deity will require it of them. எளியவிலை, s. Low price. எளியவேலை, s. Low, menial work. கைக்கெளியது, s. That which is portable, small, easily carried, stolen, secreted, managed, as a child, &c. தாளையேதரமறிகிலாதெமக்கெளிதருசிவப்பிரகாசன். A murderer, an assassin. 2. An executioner. 3. A killer, slaughterer, butcher. கொலைக்களம், s. A place of public execution. கொலைசூழ--கொலைசுற்ற, inf. To contrive or compass one's death. (p.) 2. To find out the guilt of murder. கொலைசெய்ய, inf. To kill, slay; to commit murder, take away life, to butcher. கொலைஞர், s. Assassins, murderers, killers, butchers, கொலைபாதகர். 2. Hunters; those who live by the chase, வேடர். (p.) கொலைபாதகம், s. The crime or guilt of murder; taking away life, human or other--chiefly of men or cows; one of the five heinous sins. See பாதகம். கொலைபாதகன், s. A heinous killer, or murderer. கொலைப்பழி, s. The blame or guilt of murder. கொலைமறுத்தல், v. noun. Denouncing all killing. This is scrupulously done by Jainas under all circumstances. கொலையுண்ண, inf. To be killed. 109)

kol (p. 146) --கொல்லு, கிறேன், கொன்றேன், வேன், கொல்ல, v. a. To take life, kill, slay, murder, கொலைசெய்ய. 2. To deprive mercury of its metallic properties by oxidation; to kill mercury, &c., இரசமுதலிய வற்றைக்கொல்ல. (c.) 3. (fig.) To vex, tease; to molest by continual importunity, அலட்ட. அரசனன்றுகொல்லுந்தெய்வம்நின்றுகொல்லும். The king is swift in executing judgment, but God waits. பார்க்கும்பார்வைஆsைக்கொன்றுபோடும். [prov.] His stern looks are enough to kill one. தன்னைக்கொல்லவரும்பசுவையுங்கொல்லவேண்டும். Even a cow that attacks one may be killed, i. e., we may destroy life in selfdefence. கொல்லத்தக்கசினம். To touch the heart, by returning good for evil. கொல்லாமை, v. noun. [neg.] Abstinence from killing, one of the virtues. கொல்லாவிரதம், s. Vows to abstain from killing--as made by Jainas, Saivas, &c. கொல்லாவேதம், s. The sacred books or religion of the Jainas, அருகர்வேதம். கொல்லாவேதன், s.
