aṟu (p. 33) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To cut off, part asunder, cut or break off as a string, வெட்ட. 2. To reap, நென்முதலியனவரிய. 3. To disjoin by cutting or untying--as the marriage string, to separate, sever, நீக்க. 4. To extirpate, exterminate, வேரோடழிக்க. 5. To saw asunder, வாளாலறுக்க. 6. To kill by severing the wind-pipe of beasts, &c., to slay, கழுத் தறுக்க. 7. To burrow, excavate, form subterraneous passages, வளைதோண்ட. 8. Agitated (with sorrow, anxiety, &c.,) as a fowl with its throat cut. அறுத்தறுத்தப்பேசுகிறான். He speaks distinctly. 2. He speaks decisively. 3. He uses cutting words. தடையறுத்துக்கொடுப்பேன். I will remove the obstacles, obviate objections, break the enchantments which prevent success --as in fishing, &c. வீரனுமவன்றலையறுத்தான். And Veeran cut off his head. இருளறுத்தெழுங்கதிர். The rising sun which exterminates the darkness. அறுமணை, s. An instrument for cutting vegetables, fish, &c. 2. A slut, slatterer. 3. A woman ugly or deformed in features. (c.) அறுவடை, v. noun. The act of reaping the corn. அறுவரி, s. A tax paid at fixed times. அறுவிதி, s. Decision. வழக்கறுக்க, inf. To decide a case. ஆடறுக்க, inf. To slay sheep. அறுப்பு, v. noun. Sundering, separating, cutting a part, reaping, &c., அரிகை. 2. A piece, section, அறுத்ததுண்டு. 3. An imprecation of widowhood--in allusion to the sundering of the marriage ornament at the death of the husband, தாலியறுக்கை. 4. The opening of a wound, an open cut, &c., அறுவாய். 5. The opening made in sawing a piece of timber, மரமுதலியவையினறுவாய். 6. Confutation, refutation of another's arguments, ஆட்சேபிக்கை. அறுப்புக்காலம், s. The time of harvest. அறுப்புண்க, inf. To be cut asunder, to be divided, be severed by cutting. 56)

aẕi (p. 32) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To blight, blast, ruin, கெடுக்க. 2. To waste, injure, damage, பாழாக்க. 3. To abolish, consume, annihilate, destroy. demolish, exterminate, சங்கரிக்க. 4. To efface, obliterate, குலைக்க. 5. To refute an argument. கண்டிக்க. தேடாதழிக்கிற்பாடாய்முடியும். If you spend what you have not earned, you will suffer. (ஔவை.) கருவழித்திடலுநன்றே. It would be better to destroy the foetus, (to cause abortion.) வறிதினழித்திடார். They will waste nothing in vain. (காசிகரண்டம்.) அழிகட்டு, s. A fabrication either varbal or written to deprive another of his right, a forgery, (a law term), பொ ய்ச்சீட்டு. 2. An excuse, pretence, subterfuge, வீண்போக்கு. 3. Obstacle, impediment, hinderance, தடை. 4. Means used for counteracting magic, poison, &c. மாற்று. அழிச்சாட்டியம், s. Improper treatment, an unlawful or wicked proceeding. வாங்கின கடனைக்கொடாம லழிச்சாட்டியம் பண் ணிவருகிறான். He gives much trouble by delaying to pay the debt. அழிச்சாட்டியக்காரன், s. A turbulent fellow, a bully. அழிப்பு, v. noun. Destroying, ruining, wasting, consuming in an active sense, அழிக்கை. அழிப்பாளி, s. A spendthrift, squanderer, prodigal, profligate, ஊதாரி. 8)

iṟ (p. 56) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To die, become extinct, cease, to be terminated, ended, exterminated, சாவ. 2. To decay, rot, moulder, waste. perish, அழிய. 3. (p.) To become antiquated, disused, obsolete, to fall into desuetude, பழமையாக. 4. To go, pass, pass by, proceed, pass--as time, to elapse, செல்ல. 5. To exceed, surpass in number, measure, degree. &c., அதிகரிக்க. 6. To pass over the limit, to transgress, trespass, கடக்க. காடகமிறந்தோர்கே. After him who is gone into the desert. எளிதெனவில்லிறப்பான். He who goes to his neighbor's wife considering it a light matter. இறந்தகாலம், s. Past time, past tense, செல்காலம். இறந்ததுவிலக்கல், s. uṭṟṟu (p. 59) கிறேன், உடற்றினேன், வேன், உடற்ற, v. a. To attack furiously in battle, to charge or rush on with fury, போர்செய்ய. 2. To vex, afflict, torment, வருத்த. 3. To drive back, beat away, &c., துரத்த. 4. To frustrate, thwart, scatter, disperse--as an opposing army, &c., சிதற வடிக்க. 5. To kill, destroy, exterminate, அழிக்க. 6. To discharge an arrow or other missile, பிரயோகிக்க. (p.) ஆசுகமுடற்றினாரே. They discharge arrows in rage. (பாரதம்.) வெஞ்சமமுடற்றினாரே. They carried on a destructive war. ஒல்லுங்கருமமுடற்றுபவர்கேண்மை. uruḷ (p. 65) --உருளு, கிறது, உருண்டது, உருளும், உருள, v. n. To turn about as a wheel, or dice, to roll, bowl, trundle, tumble over and over, revolve on a plane, spin or whirl--as a thrown discus, at right angles with the horizon, புரள. 2. To become round, grow globular, திரள. 3. (c.) To perish, die in numbers--as in battle, by an epidemic, &c.; to waste--as wealth, &c.; to become extinct, be exterminated, அழிய. உருண்டுபோவாய். To be conceived, to be formed--as conception, கருப்பந்தங்க. கருத்தரிக்க, inf. To conceive, to be impregnated--as animals in general. கருத்தெரியாதவன், s. An unwise man. கருநூல், s. A treatise on enchantment. கருப்பை, s. The matrix, the womb. கருப்பொருள், s. The second class of பொருள், which treats of the beings, things, &c., peculiar to different countries. They are of fourteen kinds from gods down to the employments of men, அந்தந்தநிலங்களைச்சார்ந்தபொருள். See பொருள். கருமாரி, s. Extremity, difficulty in child-birth, பிரசூதவேதனை. கருமாரிப்பட்டை, s. A bark used medicinally in difficult child-birth. கருவழிக்க, inf. To destroy the f&oe;tus, to cause abortion, கருப்பமழிக்க. கருவழிய, inf. To perish--as the f&oe;tus, to miscarry, to suffer abortion. கருவழிவு, v. noun. miscarriage, abortion, கருப்பஅழிவு. கருவறிய, inf. To come to years of discretion. கருவறிந்தவன்--கருவாளி--கருவு ள்ளவன், s. An ingenious person, a genius, ஊகித்தறிபவன். கருவறுக்க, inf. To exterminate a family, &c., to ruin one's property,அடி யோடுகெடுக்க. கருவாமுப்பு, s. Salt-petre, வெடி யுப்பு. கருவிரிய, inf. To ear, to shoot into ears, கதிர்விரிய. கருவிரிந்தபயிர், s. The earing corn. கருவுயிர்க்க, v. n. To bring forth young either human or brute, ஈன. கருவுளமைப்பு, s. The six things incident to sentient beings on assuming corporeal forms, கருவில்நியமிப்பு, viz.: 1. பெறுதல் or பேறு, getting, gain. 2. இழத்தல் or இழவு, losing or loss. 3. இன் பம், pleasure. 4. பிணி or இடையூறு, disease, affliction, mishap, &c. 5. மூப்பு, old age. 6. சாக்காடு, death. To these some add பிரித்தல், separation, removal to a distance; and பிரிவிலாதிருக்கை, continued association. கருவெடுக்க, inf. kḷai (p. 101) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To strip or put off clothes, to reject clothes or jewels, &c., சீலைமுதலியகளைய. 2. (p.) To weed, pull up, extirpate, eradicate, களைபிடுங்க. 3. To exterminate, extirpate a family, foes, &c., to kill, destroy, கொல்ல. 4. To remove, expel, extrude, separate, reject, lop off; to shave the hair, the beard, &c., to pare the nails, &c., to cut or pull the hair, &c., to molt--as birds, அகற்ற. 5. An ox that is brisk and ploughs well. காலாணி, s. A corn on the foot. 2. Pegs in the beams of native houses to support the roof. காலாணியற்றுப்போனவன், s. One who is become weak or poor. காலாயுதம், s. A gallinacious fowl, whose foot is its weapon, கோழி. காலாழி, s. See under ஆழி. காலாள், s. A person on foot; footsoldiers, infantry, பதாதி. காலாற, inf. To set on foot firm on the ground; to become established. காலூன்றிநிற்க, inf. To stand firmly, stand fast. காலூன்றிப்பெய்ய, inf. To rain in torrents--the clouds seeming to rest on the horizon. காலேயரைக்கால், s. A quarter and oneeighth, five-eighths. காலோடேகால்சேர்ந்துநிற்க, inf. To stand with closed legs. கால்கட்டு, s. Inseparableness--as of wife and husband. கால்கட்டுகைகட்டு, Bound hand and foot. 2. (fig.) Confined at home by the sickness of another, by a grown-up daughter, a motherless child, or by urgent business, &c. கால்கழுவ, inf. To wash the feet; metaphorically to clean one's self with water after stool, மலங்கழுவ. கால்கூசுதல், v. noun. Shrinking of the foot in touching rough ground, &c. 2. Recoiling of the legs in stepping into the compound or house of a stranger. 3. Having spasms in the arms, and legs --as in cholera. கால்சீக்க, inf. To root out, exterminate, வேரோடுகளைய. 2. To efface, to obliterate, துடைக்க. 3. To dispel darkness, இருளைஅகற்ற. 4. To scrape with the foot, காலினாற்சீக்க. கால்செய்வட்டம், s. A fan, விசிறி; [ex கால், air, et செய்வட்டம்.] கால்தளர--காறளர inf. To become weak in the limps, by walking, sickness, age, &c. கால்தோல்--காற்றோல் s. [prov.] Leathern defences for toddy-drawers feet in climbing, மரமேறுவோர் காலிலிடுந்தோல். கால்நகம்--கானகம் s. Toe-nail. கால்நடை--கானடை. v. noun. Walking, going on foot--as distinct from riding and driving. 2. s. Sheep and goats; oxen, cattle, ஆடுமாடுகள் அவனுக்குமாட்டில் நூறுகால்நடையுண்டு. He has no-hundred oxen. கால்நடையாய், adv. On foot, a-foot. கால்நடையாய்ப் பிரயாணம்போக, inf. To travel on foot. கால்நோக்கு--கானோக்கு s. One-fourth aspect of a planet, being one of the four aspects. கால்பாவவில்லை. The feet do not seek the ground--recoiling from going. கால்பிடிக்க, inf. To fall at one's feet to ask a favor. 2. To press and rub the legs in order to induce sleep, to shampoo. கால்பின்னிக்கொண்டுநிற்க, inf. To stand cross-legged. கால்பின்னிக்கொள்ள--காலோடேகால் பின்னிக்கொள்ள, inf. To lose the power of walking, legs being crossed. கால்மட்டம், s. [prov.] Use of the feet in walking, by guess or practice--as in the dark or as a blind man. கால்மாடு, s. The foot of a bed, or of a person in bed, காற்பக்கம். கால்மிதி, s. Step in dancing. 2. Footmark, காற்சுவடு. கால்வருட, inf. To shampoo, to stroke the feet, soles, &c. கால்வழி, s. A lame man. கடைகால், s. The foundation, அஸ்திவா ரம். 2. An excavation for laying the foundation. 3. [prov.] A small iron bucket for drawing water. கிந்துகால், s. A halting or hobbling leg. கிந்துகாலன், s. A hobbler. கீற்றரைக்கால், The contracted form of உ, marked thus ,-- as து, நு. கீற்றுக்கால், The contracted form of ஊ, marked thus --as தூ, நூ. See under கீற்று. குதிகால்--குதிங்கால் s. Heel. குந்துகாலன், (fem. குந்துகாலி.) A hobbler, a limping person. 2. A Squatter, a man sitting on the his knees. குந்துகால், s. Tip-toe. 2. cangkāram (p. 156) s. [sometimes சம்மாரம்.] Destruction, annihilation, dissolution in general, அழிக்கை. 2. The periodical destruction of the universe, in the reduction of all things to their primitive Maya--as one of the five கிருத்தியம், உலகசங்காரம். (c.) 3. The constant dissolution of all animate existences, as one of the five கிருத்தியம் or divine operations, இளைப்பாற்றஅழித்தல். 4. Samskara, completing or finishing.) சங்காரகாலம், s. A time of dissolution. சங்காரதூதன், s. [in Christian usage.] The destroying angel. சங்காரம்பண்ண, inf. To destroy, reduce things to their primitive Maya--as at the termination of the great yuga, or in the dissolution of individual creatures. சங்காரன், s. A destroyer. சர்வசங்காரநாள், s. Doomsday, the day of final and universal destruction, and judgment. சங்கரிக்க, inf. To destroy, exterminate, annihilate, அழிக்க. 2. To destroy the world, at the universal deluge, by resolving one element into another, and reducing all things to their primitive state. சங்கரிப்பு, v. noun. Destruction, annihilation, &c. நிருமூலமாக்குகை. 2. Involution of elements one into the other, and their ultimate reduction to Maya, at the termination of the world, சங்காரம். சங்காரகாலத்துப்பு, s. cī (p. 190) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To scratch--as fowls; to tear up earth--as birds, pigs, &c., to rub or scrape with the foot either walking or standing; to rub a thing under foot; to turn up or draw earth with the foot, காலினாற்சீக்க. 2. To wipe, wipe off, to rub, sweep superficially, to brush or graze, பெருக்க. 3. To expel, dispel, efface, root out, obliterate, exterminate, extinguish, destroy, அறப்பண் ண. (Compare கால்சீக்க.) 4. As வீரசூரம். வீரதுரந்தரன், s. A champion, one ready to take the part of others, மகாவீரன். வீரபத்திரன், s. Virab'hadra, a form of Siva and destroyer of the sacrifice of Daksha. வீரப்பாடு, s. Victory, conquest, வெற்றி. வீரமாகாளர், s. The commander of a Jain army. வீரமாமுனி, s. A name given to Beschi, compiler of சதுரகராதி, and author of the Tembavani and other works. வீரமார்த்தாண்டன், s. Goddess of bravery. See அஷ்டலட்சுமி. வீரவாளிச்சேலை--வீரவாளிப்பட்டு, s. A kind of silk-cloth printed with curious devices. வீரவான், s. As வீரியவான். வீரவெட்சிமாலை, s. A panegyric, on one who has made a successful foray, and been crowned with a wreath of வெட்சி. See பிரபந்தம். வீரவெண்டையம், s. See வெண்டையம். வீரன், s. A hero, a veteran, திண்ணியன். 2.
