ayr (p. 22) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், அயர, v. a. To do, perform, execute, discharge duties, rites, &c., exercise, practise, செய்ய. In this meaning it seems commonly, associated with pleasant and gratifying sensations, as, விருந்தயர, to perform the rites of hospitality. 2. v. n. To faint, swoon, languish, தளர. 3. To lose the power of consciousness, as in faintness, drowsiness, sleep, &c., சோர. 4. To become weary, droop, இளைக்க. விளையாட்டயர்ந்தான். He has played. அவன்கண்ணயர்ந்ததைப்பார்த்து. Seeing him drowsy. (பஞ். 8.) அயரப்போட--அயரவிட, inf. To let rest for a better opportunity, as thieves, till persons are less on their guard, or as persons in a law suit. அயர்ந்தநித்திரை, s. Deep sleep, profound sleep. அயர்ச்சி, v. noun. Forgetfulness, மறதி. 2. Languor, faintness, spiritlessness, உணர்வழிவு. 3. Laziness, drowsiness, சோம்பு. 4. Weakness, பலவீனம். 5. Distress, affliction, வருத்தம். 6. Disgust, வெறுப்பு. அயர்தி, v. noun. Fainting, swooning, languor, weariness, drowsiness, stupor, சோர்வு. 2. Forgetfulness, forgetting, liability to forget, மறதி. āyācam (p. 39) s. Fatigue, weariness, faintness, lassitude, languor, weariness of mind, இளைப்பு. Wils. p. 118. AYASA. 2. Dissatisfaction, displeasure, மனவருத்தம். 3. Regret, துக்கம். (c.) நான்சொன்னதுமக்காயாசமாயிருக்கிறதா? Do you feel displeased at what I said? ஆயாசந்தீர, inf. To be relieved after fatigue, to be refreshed. 31)

iḷai (p. 56) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To tire, grow weary, be fatigued, exhausted, to languish, தொய்ய. 2. To grow emaciated, be lean, meagre, &c., மெலிய. 3. To be worn out with age, sickness, &c., to become decrepit, தளர. 4. To become poor, be worn out--as land by continued cultivation, want of manure, &c., சக்திகுறைய. 5. To grow weak and wanting in luxuriance or fruitfulness--as trees, rice, &c., to fade--as a color, வளங்குறைய. 6. To fail before a foe or rival, to yield to superior force, தோற்க. ஒருத்தனுக்கொருத்தனிளையான். One is not inferior to the other, one will not yield to the other (they will fight till they die, except they to parted). இளைத்தோய, inf. To be exhausted from over-exertion. இளைப்பு, v. noun. Weariness, fatigue, exhaustion, faintness, மெலிவு. இளைப்பறுதி, s. Recruiting, recovery from fatigue. இளைப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be wearied. இளைப்பாற, inf. To rest, take rest, repose, இளைப்புத்தணிய. இளைப்பாறுமண்டபம், s. A room for rest or repose--1. For idols after a procession, before they are set in the usual place. 2. For kings, or other distinguished personages after journey. to wash their feet, &c. before entering their house, வசந்தமண்டபம். இளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To refresh, cause to rest, show civilities, &c. to travellers or weary persons, இளைப்பொழிக்க. வழியிளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To entertain and refresh travellers, offering them a seat, water to wash their feet, fanning them, &c. மன்றலந்தென்றல்வீசி வழியிளைப்பாற்றினாளே. She (the Ganges) refreshed them by causing the fragrant south wind to blow. (பாரதம்.) இளைப்பாற்றி, s. Rest, resting, repose, cessation, இளைப்புத்தணிகை. இளைப்புற, inf. To be fatigued, to grow weary. 10)

A wearied desponding mind. தொய்யக்கட்ட, inf. To tie a line so as to be slack. தொய்யப்போட, inf. To let rest a little, in order to gain an object. தொய்யவாங்க, inf. To breathe short. 2. (fig.) To reduce one by draining away his property. தொய்யவிட, inf. To slacken a rope. 2. To let merchandize remain for a time to rise in price. 3. To put off a bargain. 4. To be yielding. தொய்யவிட்டுவாங்க, inf. To let a string loose and thn strain it, as in flying paper-kites, &c. 2. To attach one, and then treat him harshly. தொய்வு, v. noun.
