ūṟu (p. 71) கிறது, ஊறினது, ம், ஊற, v. a. To spring, flow as water in a well, to issue, நீரூற. 2. To soak, to be steeped, pickled, காய்முதலியவூற. 3. To ooze through, percolate, filter, distil, கசிய. 4. To run or spread--as ink in paper, as dampness in land around a spring; to become moist, மைமுதலியவூற. 5. To form, become collected--as milk in the breast, toddy in palm flowers, &c., பால்முதலியனசுரக்க. 6. To form as raw flesh in a sore, to heal, காயத்திலூன்வளர. 7. To increase--as flesh in a person who has been wasted by disease, to increase by slow degrees, மெலி ந்தவுடல்தேற. (c.) தொட்டளைத்தூறுமணற்கேணிமாந்தர்க்குக் கற்றனைத் தூறுமறிவு. The more you dig in a sandy soil the more does the water spring forth; so the more you apply to science the more your knowledge will increase. கற்கவூறுங்கலைஞானம். By learning, knowledge is increased. இறைத்தகிணறூறும்இறையாக்கிணறூறாது. Water issues from the springs of a well constantly drawn, but from one not drawn, it ceases to do so; i. e. the more one gives, the more will be given to him. ஊறணி, s. A fountain, a spring of water, ஊற்று. 2. [prov.] Good, moist land where water oozes out, கசிவுநிலம். 3. Wet, marshy, or brackish lands, சேற்று நிலம். 4. Income, property stored up, வருவாய் (probably a corruption of ஊ றுநீர்). ஊறவூறக்கறக்க, inf. To milk the cow as fast as the milk forms. 2. To obtain money from a person as fast as he gets it. ஊறவைக்க, inf. To steep, pickle, imbue, macerate. ஊறுகாய், s. Pickled fruits, அடை காய். ஊறுநீர், s. Spring-water, ஊற்று நீர். ஊறுபுண், s. A healing wound, ஆறிவரும்புண். தேனூறுமலர், s. The honey forming flower. ஊறல், v. noun. Oozing as from a sore, &c., percolation, discharge, issue, ஊறுகை. 2. s. A small spring, springwater, ஊற்று. 3. A tincture, infusion, &c., மருந்திலூறல். 4. A taint, or faint mixture of another metal, பஞ்சலோகக்கலப்பு. 5. One's income acquisition, property amassed, &c., வருவாய். 6. A slight degree of verdigris, களிம்பு. ஊறற்பாக்கு, s. Betel-put soaked to render it fit for use. ஊறற்றாள், s. Sinking paper.

ūẕl (p. 70) s. That which is decayed, spoiled, bad in quality, conduct, கெட்டது. 2. That which is filthy, nasty--as excrement, putrefaction, &c., mud, mire, ஊத் தை. 3. (p.) Hell, நரகம். ஊழலத்தி, s. kuṇṭi (p. 118) s. The buttocks, backside, fundament, seat, rump of an animal; any rump-like protuberance, ஆசனபக்கம். 2. The kidney, பிருக்கம். 3. The heart, இருதயம். 4. The roe or spawn of a fish, மீன்சினை. 5. The lower end of fruits, nuts, &c.; that opposite the stalk, பழத்தின்கீழ்ப்புறம். குண்டிகழுவ, inf. To wash after passing excrements. குண்டிகழுவாதவர்கள், s. Those who do not wash themselves; a term of reproach given to Europeans--the practice being regarded as filthy. குண்டிக்காய், s. Kidneys, பிருக்கம். குண்டிக்குப்பின்னேபேச, inf. To backbite, to speak ill of one behind his back; low, and in anger. குண்டிக்கொழுப்பு, s. Pride, wantonness, arrogance, sauciness, insolence. குண்்டிச்சீலையைப்போட்டுக்கடக்க, inf. [prov.] To take an oath by stepping over the cloth taken from the waist; as practised by the lower castes. குண்டிமண்ணைத்தட்டிவிட்டோட, inf. [prov.] To leave, renounce or desert a person, thing, &c.; lit. to wipe off the dust of the buttocks and run away, விட் டுவிட. 2. To outwit, to out-scheme, to out-do another in cheating, &c., தந்திரத் திலேவெல்ல. குண்டியடிபடவிழ, inf. To fall on the buttocks from a height. குண்டியும்வாயும்பொத்த, inf. To stand in great awe of a person; to be much afraid; lit. to stop the mouth by one hand and put the other behind to save a kick, &c. குண்டியெலும்பு, s. The os sacrum, ஆச னவென்பு. குண்டிவற்ற, s. inf. [prov.] To be reduced as the mettle, arrogance; lit. the buttocks to be dry, பெருமையடங்க.

To become reconciled, pacified, conciliated, இணங்க. 8. To be able, be possible, practicable, attainable, இயல. 9. To be lawful, expedient, proper, decent, தகுதியாக. 1. To be fit, to be serviceable, to be suitable, பிரயோசனப்பட. 11. To become possessed of, to attain, அடைய. 12. To accumulate, to hoarded or stored up, தொகை சேர. 13. To come to pass, to be brought about, to be effected, சித்திக்க. 14. To be annexed, superadded, அதனமாய்ச்சேர. 15. To come in conjunction--as planets, &c., கிரகங் கள்கூட. 16. To commence, to take place, தொடங்க. 17. v. a. (சது.) To pursue, follow out; to seek, தேட. பன்றியோடுகூடியகன்றும்பீதின்னும். A calf in company with a swine will learn to devour filth; i. e. a man will conform to his associates. இதுஅவனாலேகூடும். He is able to do it. இனிஅவன்கூடான். Henceforth, he will be good-for-nothing. இதுகாரியத்துக்குக்கூடும். This will serve the purpose. நடுவழியிலேகூடினான். He met me in the middle of the road. கூடிப்பிரியேல். Break not (old) friendships. (Av.) அமாவாசைகூடிவிட்டது. [prov.] The time of new moon has already come. ஆளோடேகூடிவிட்டான். He has begun to come into society (from obscurity or boyhood). 2. He is convalescent; he is getting around. ஆகக்கூடியதொகை. The total amount. கூடிக்கொள்ள, inf. To band together; to form an association, to take part in, to side with. 2. To meet together, to assemble. 3. To exceed, surpass. 4. To gain strength and vigor. கூடிவர, inf. To accompany. 2. To prosper, succeed. கூடிநாடித்திரிய, inf. To associate or consort with one, to be on terms of close friendship. கூடாநட்பு, s. False friendship. கூடாவுவமை, s. [in rhet.] A simile in which the comparison is made with a thing having only a hypothetical existence, ஓர்உவமையலங்காரம். கூடாவொழுக்கம், s. Immoral conduct --as of anchorets who in secret break their vows. கூடல், v. noun. Approaching, assembling, &c.; seeking, uniting, cohabiting, being possible, &c.--as the verb கூடு. See also கூடல். s. கூடாமை, neg. [v. noun.] Impropriety, indecorum, பொருந்தாமை. 2. Inability, impossibility, impracticability. கூட்டரவு, v. noun. Collection, aggregate, series, பொருட்கூட்டம். 2. Crowd, association, combination. கூட, inf. [adverbially.] Together, in company, collecting together. 2. Even, also; often in composition with உம். 3. More than due, more than enough, too much; additionally. 4. part. With, together with. எல்லாருங்கூடவாருங்கள். Come all together. குருவுக்குக்கூடப்பயப்படான். He is not afraid even of his guru. அவன்வீட்டிலேதண்ணீர்கூடக்குடியார்கள்.... They will not drink even water in his house--said in disparagement. நான்கூடஅறியேன். I also know it. அவனுக்குக்கூடக்கொடுத்துப்போட்டீர். You have given him too much. ஐந்துரூபாய்கூடத்தந்தார். He gave five rupees in addition. என்கூடவா. Come with me. கூடிய--கூடின, rel. part. Practicable, possible, convenient, proper, &c. என்னாற்கூடியபணிவிடைக்குக்காத்திருக்கிறேன். I am ready to do any service in my power. கூடியமட்டும்--கூடியமாத்திரம். As far or as much as possible; as much as one is able; to the utmost. கூடும். It is possible, proper, fit, practicable, lawful, &c. கூடாது. It is impossible, impracticable, inconvenient, improper, unlawful, unfit, &c. 2. Note to be done--either as command or an entreaty--according to the manner and tone of the speaker. கால்கைகூடாது. My hands and feet are worn out; i. e. with hard work. என்னாற்கூடாது. I cannot; I will not. கூடாதகாரியம். An impossible thing. கூடலர்--கூடார், s. Enemies, foes, aliens, பகைவர். 26)

keṭu (p. 137) கிறேன், கெட்டேன், வேன், கெட, v. n. To perish; to be destroyed, annihilated, அழிய. 2. To putrefy, rot, decay; to become tarnished, damaged, marred, blighted, கேடுற. 3 To be ruined in circumstances, வறுமையுற. 4. To be violated in chastity, கற்பழிய. 5. To degenerate, deteriorate; to change for the worse, morally or physically, நிலைகெட. 6. To be emaciated, reduced; to be deformed, disfigured, உருவழிய. 7. To be defeated, overcome, தோற்க. 8. To be intrinsically bad, evil or wrong, குணங்கெட. 9. To fall into ruin; to be demolished, destroyed, நாசமுற. 1. To be lost--as an article of property, &c., dropped, stolen or otherwise, காணாமற்போக. 11. To be squandered, spent, wasted, பொருள ழிய. 12. To be worn out, சிதைய. 13. To expire, to terminate--as the retribution of former deeds, வினைகெட. 14. [in gram.] To be elided, dropped, விகாரத்தாற்கெட. கெடுவாய். May you perish--a form of imprecation. கெட்டாற்குற்றார்கிளையிலுமில்லை. In poverty, friends are not found even among relations. கெட்டேனே. Ah! I am lost, ruined; I an undone. கெட்டுப்போனபார்ப்பானுக்குச் செத்துப்போனப சுவைத்தானங்கொடுத்தாற்போல. As if a dead cow be presented to a ruined brahman; said of an unprofitable pursuit by an incompetent person. கெட்டும்பட்டணஞ்சேர். Though to be ruined, go to the town. தரித்திரங்கெடும்படி. That the misery of poverty may cease. ஈற்றுயிர்மெய்கெடும். The final compound letter is dropped. கெடுகுடிசொற்கேளாது. A family given up to ruin will never listen to advice. கெட்டகுடியேகெடும். A ruined family will sink more and more. கெடுகாலம், s. A time of ruin, evil, drought, &c.; also used reference to retribution of evil deeds which is to come immediately. கெடுமதி, s. Wicked devices. 2. Folly, rashness, presumption. 3. Loss, ruin, waste. கெடுமதி கண்ணுக்குத் தெரியாது. Folly is blind. கெடுவான், appel. n. He who will perish--the wretch; commonly used abusively. கெட்டதனம், s. Bad disposition; badness. 2. Indecorum, incivility. கெட்டநடத்தை, s. Immoral or vile conduct. கெட்டநிலை, s. A bad state, a woful plight. 2. A dangerous profession. 3. A dangerous way or system--as of religion. கெட்டபுத்தி, s. Perverted understanding. 2. Bad counsel, &c. கெட்டமணம், s. An offensive smell. கெட்டரூபம், s. A deformed, monstrous or horrid shape. கெட்டவியாதி, s. A bad, malignant, dangerous disease. 2. The venereal or other filthy disease. கெட்டகேடு, s. Utter ruin, uselessness, unworthiness, &c.--usually as an exclamation கெட்டுப்போனவள், s. A seduced woman, a bad woman. கெடுதலை, v. noun. Ruin, அழிவு. 2. Damage, loss, detriment, injury, நஷ்டம். 3. Disaster, calamity, இடையூறு. 4. Degeneracy, vileness, evil, இழிவு. கெடுதல், v. noun. Perishing; being ruined, spoiled, defeated, &c. 2. Damage, injury, calamity, &c. 3. [in gram.] Elision, omission. கெடுதி, s. Loss of any thing dropped, stolen, or strayed, &c., இழப்பு. 2. Loss --opposed to gain, in astrological calculations, augural divinations, &c., நஷ்டம். (See நினைத்தகாரியம்.) 3. Emergency, hazard, extremity. ஆபத்து. 4. Ruin, அழிவு. 5. Evil, disaster, கேடு. 6. (fig.) The thing lost, இழந்தபொருள். ஒருகெடுதிசொல்லவேண்டும். Please to divine for me about what I have lost. கெடு, v. noun. Ruin, destruction; decay, கேடு. 2. Expiration of a limited time, a term or limit of time, தவணை. கெடுவாகவையாதுலகம். The world will not consider it a ruin. (குற.) கெடுத்தப்பிப்போயிற்று. The time set, is passed. கெடுப்படிக்கு. According to the time agreed upon. பத்துநாட்கெடுவிலே.
