Why should they go? In the last two examples, the verb is in the gerundial form--a finite verb being understood. 98)

koṭu (p. 145) s. A poetic contraction of the gerundial participle கொண்டு. (p.) பையக்கொடுபோனார். He carried [it] very gently.

koṉṉu (p. 147) கிறேன்,கொன்னினேன், வேன், கொன்ன, v. n. [vul. probably a corruption of கொஞ்சு, v.] To speak indistinctly, to stammer, articulate imperfectly, கொன்னையாகப்பேச. Used commonly in the gerundial form--as கொன்னிக்கொன் னிப்பேசுகிறான், he stammers, speaks indistinctly, falters in his words. கொன்னை, v. noun. [vul. prov.] Indistinct speaking, stammering, lisping, imperfect articulation, சொற்றிருந்தாமை. கொன்னைவாயன், s. [fem. கொன்னைவா ய்ச்சி.] One who speaks indistinctly, a stammerer. 43)
