The rising of the sun and moon in conjunction, on a Monday, the sun being in Capricorn, in the month of January, and the moon in the twenty-second lunar asterism, in the seventh யோகம்--regarded as a most auspicious moment for sacred bathing; such is called மகோதயதீர்த்தம். vittai (p. 394) s. [St. வித்தியா.] Science, learning, sacred or profane, a branch of learning, கல்வி. W. p. 768. VIDYA. 2. Skill, ingenuity, dexterity, சாமர்த்தியம். 3. Arts displaying skill, சித்திரத்தொழில். 4. Magic, jugglery, காரடவித்தை.--It retains its Sans. pronunciation in most of the compounds. வித்தியாசாலை, s. A college. வித்தியாதத்துவம், s. A department of knowledge, one of the தத்துவத்திரயம். According to the Saivas, it includes; 1. காலம், time; 2. நியதி, fate; 3. கலை, science; 4. வித்தை, arts; 5. இராகம், desire; 6. புரு டன் or ஆன்மா, soul; 7. மாயை, matter. வித்தியாதரர், s.
