oḷiṟl (p. 84) v. noun. s. [prop. ஒளிர்தல்.] Shining, being resplendent, glittering, பிர காசித்தல். ஒளிறுவாள், s. The glittering sword. (நைட.) 19)

oḷ (p. 84) adj. Good, excellent, நல்ல. 2. Beautiful, அழகுள்ள. 3. Bright, glittering, luminous, பிரகாசமான. 4. Knowing, அறிவுள்ள. 5. Abundant, மிகுதியான. The ள் of this word is changed into ட் and ண் before appropriate letters, whence the nouns ஒட்பம், and ஒண்மை. ஒள்ளழல்கண்ணிற்கால. His eyes emitting bright sparks of fire through rage-ஒள்வாள், s. Glittering swords, ஒள்ளியவாள். ஒள்ளியர், s. The virtuous, those renowned for subjecting their passions and practising deeds of virtue, according to the shasters, மாசற்றவர். 2. The wise, the intelligent, அறிவுடையோர். (p.) ஒளியார்முன்னொள்ளியராதல். Acting wisely in the presence of the wise. (குறள்.) ஒள்ளியோன், s. He who emits light, ஒளிசெய்வோன். 2. Venus the planet, சுக்கிரன். 3. An enlightened man, அறிவுடையோன். (p.) ஒள்ளொளி, s. A brilliant light. 21)

ōngku (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓங்கினேன், வேன், ஓங்க, v. a. To lift up, raise the arm, a weapon, a pestle, கையோங்க. 2. v. n. To grow high, rise above others, above the level; to be lofty--as a building, a mountain, a tree; to shoot forth, rise--as a flame, உயர. 3. To mount, soar, எழும்ப. 4. To rise to the surface--as planted rice when flooded, எழ. 5. To be exalted, dignified, eminent, பெருமையுற. 6. To improve, increase in wealth, renown, learning, &c.; to flourish, prosper, increase in size, &c., அதிகரிக்க. ஓங்கியவொள்வாள். The up-lifted glittering sword. நெஞ்சோங்குபரத்துற்றோர். Those whose hearts are placed on the Supreme God. (நன்னெறி.) துக்கசமுத்திரத்திலேயோங்குகிறான். He rises above the waves in the sea of sorrow. ஓங்கிப்பார்க்க, inf. To stand on tip-toe and look. ஓங்கிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To rise and catch, either by becoming erect, or standing on tip-toe, or jumping. ஓங்கியசெல்வம், s. Abounding wealth. பிறன்மனைநோக்காதபேராண்மைசான்றோர்க்கறனொ ன்றோவான்றவொழுக்கு. The magnanimity which disdains to look on another's wife, is it an act of propriety merely? It is exalted virtue. coli (p. 212) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. (Sa. Jva'la.) To blaze, flame--as fire or anger, to rage--as hunger, &c., to catch and burn rapidly, to blaze up, spread as flames, சுவாலிக்க. 2. To shine, emit rays, coruscate, பிரகாசிக்க. 3. To abound --as speed, to be heightened--as rage, அதிகரிக்க. (c.) கண்களிற்கோபாக்கினிசொலிக்க, inf. To flash fire from angry eyes. சொலிப்பு, v. noun.
