kumuṟu (p. 123) கிறது, குமுறினது, ம், குமுற, v. n. To thunder, மேகமுழங்க. 2. To sound, to roar; to bellow, to resound, to rumble, to emit a roaring hollow sound, இரைய. 3. To bubble in boiling, to efferversce, கொதிக்க. 4. To sound--as the noise of a multitude, பேசலாலொலிக்க. குமுறிவிழுகிறான். He is bellowing, vociferating; is wanton and mettlesome. உலைகொதித்துக்குமுறுகிறது. The water (for rice, &c.), is boiling up with a rumbling noise, &c. முலையிற்பால்குமுறிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. The milk in hte breast, or udder, is working up to gush out, or to distend the vessels. குமுற இடிக்க, inf. To pound foreibly in a mortar, in beating out the grain, &c. குமுறக்காய, inf. To be boiling hot-as oil; to boil up; to be heated to a high degree. குமுறிப்பாய, inf. To gush or spring out--as a roaring torrent. குமுறப்பிழிய, inf. To press out hard-as juice, &c. 20)

kuẕippu (p. 129) s. (See under the verb, குழி.) A peculiar harmonic rhythm in verse, in which the மோனை rhyming of the metrical feet are discarded, but the correspondence of the letters, or syllables, ending each foot and beginning the next forms a pleasing hormony--as in the following: அணியுடன்றபரி, பரியுடன்றகரி, கரியுடன்றகொடி, யணியுதேர்--மணியுடன்றதனு, தனுவுடன்றகணை, கணை யுடன்றகரை, மலிதாப் பிணியுடன்றவம, ரமருடன்றவு ட, லுடலுடன்றவுயிர், பிரிதாப்--பணியுடன்றகுய, வுய ருடன்றபடை, படையுடன்றமறை, யாசனால். The horses chafed on their bits--The elephants were rendered impetuous by the horses--The cars, decked with flags, were violently propelled by the elephants--The bows tinkled with their bells--The arrows were shot forth from the bows--The blood gushed from the arrows' wounds--The battle fiercely raged--The bodies were sore smitten in the battle--The souls separated and fled from the bodies. Thus the pious chief (Joshua), high raised on his jewel-decked chariot, vanquished the opposing hosts. Here, the feet are not regarded, but குழிப்பு forms the harmony. The variety used is தனதனந்ததன--தனதனந்ததன--தனதனந்த தன--தனதனா. (Besch. Shen. Tam. Gram.) 2)

cri (p. 166) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. [lit. to go, move, descend]; hence. To lean, decline from the perpendicular; to recline, to fall on one side, சாய. 2. To flow or roll down --as a stream from a mountain, corn from a heap, சரிந்துசெல்ல. 3. To slip, slide off --as a garment, நழுவ. 4. To roll or fall down a precipice, or from a height--as bricks from a wall, மேலிருந்து கீழுருள. 5. [in reproach.] To recline or lie down, படுக்க. 6. To flock to a place, go in crowds, or a train--as men or beasts, பட்சிமுதலியனகூடிப் போக. 7. To die off, to die, (commonly said in reproach, சாவ.) 8. To decline--as a heavenly body, கிரகஞ்சாய. 9. To be set aslant, to be raised on one side, to be tilted, சரிவா யிருக்க. 1. To give way, to yield, to be defeated--as an army or party, பின்னிட. (c.) பகைவர்படைசரிந்தது. The army of the enemy was defeated. சும்மாசரிந்துகிடவேன். Don't be meddling, (lit.) go and lie down in peace. வெட்டினாலே தோள்சரிந்தது. The wounded shoulder hung down. அநேகர்சரிகிறார்கள். The entrance to a tank, river, &c., where men or cattle go for water. தண்ணீர்பட்டபாடு, v. noun. Like water; i. e. profuse, plentiful, free. (c.) தண்ணீர்ப்பந்தல்--தண்ணீர்ச்சாலை, s. A shed where water, butter-milk, lemonade, &c., are furnished. தண்ணீர்ப்பிடி--தண்ணீர்ப்பிடிப்பு, v. noun. Being watery as food or fruits. 2. Containing water, as pustules. 3. Being suffused with watery humors, as the body. 4. The limit of the water in a tank. See சீர்ப்பிடி. தண்ணீர்ச்சாரை, s. A kind of ratsnake living in tanks, as நீர்ச்சாரை. தண்ணீர்ப்பகை, s. pāl (p. 313) s. Milk, பசுவின் பால்முதலியன. 2. Milky juice in plants, trees and fruits--as the eocoa-nut, மரமுதலியவற்றின்பால். 3. Lymph, matter, fluid in pustules, &c., அம்மைப்பால். 4. (சது.) Whiteness, வெண்மை. [a contraction of Sa. Palana, milk of a cow recently calved.]--Note. In combination the final ல் is changed by rule to ற், sometimes to ன், பாலுக்குங்காவல்பூனைக்குந்தோழன். Milk is white, whey is white--spoken of persons or things apparently similar, but really very different. பால்வார்த்துமுழுகுவான். He will bathe, putting milk on his head (in token of his joy at your death, &c.). பாலடை, s. A shell for a milk-ladle, பாலடைச்சங்கு. [loc.] 2. A shrub, பால டைச்செடி, Hallia sororia. பாலடைய, inf.
