oṟṟu (p. 84) s. A mute consonant, மெய் யெழுத்து. 2. Spying, espionage, searching, agency, வேவு. 3. A messenger, an agent or emissary, தூதன். 4. A spy, வேவுகாரன். ஒற்றர், s. Spies, searchers, emissaries, வேவுகாரர். 2. The confidential agents or messengers of a prince whether employed in his own dominion or another's, for a good or bad purpose, தூதர். ஒற்றராலக்கணத்தேயுணர்ந்து. Being acquainted (with the counsels of the enemy) at that time through the spies. (பார.) கன்னலொன்றளவைதன்னிற்கந்தவேளொற்றன்யா க்கை சின்னபின்னங்களாகச்செய்குவன். I would tear to pieces the body of Veeravagu, Skandar's emissary, in the space of an hour. (ஸ்காந்.) ஒற்றளபு--ஒற்றளபெடை, s. The insertion of a consonant in verse to lengthen the sound. See அளபெடை. ஒற்றாடல், v. noun. The act of directing spies. ஒற்றாளுதல், v. noun. Employing spies or secret messengers, தூதரையாளுதல். ஒற்றுக்கேடு, s. The elision of a consonant. ஒற்றுக்கேட்டல், v. noun. Overhearing. ஒற்றுப்பெயர்த்தல், v. noun. [in மி றைக்கவி.] Constructing a species of verse so artfully that, independent of the main sense, other meanings may be contained in it, மிறைக்கவியினோருறுப்பு--as அம்புத்தலை, the head of an arrow is அப்பு த்தலை, when the mute is hardened--which means the new head--besides the original meaning. ஒற்றெழுத்து, s. An inanimate consonant, மெய்யெழுத்து. ஒற்றொழிபாட்டு, s. A verse that contains no mute consonants, மெய்யெழு த்தில்லாப்பாட்டு. 27)

kāy (p. 104) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், காய, v. n. To be heated, boiled, cooked, &c., as liquids by fire, நீர்முதலியனகாய. 2. To be warmed, heated, &c., by fire or the sun; to be withered, tanned, &c., slightly--as vegetables by the sun; to become parched--as the lips or mouth; to be dried and hardened--as the ground; to dry, உலர. 3. To warm one's self, to become warm, குளிர்காய. 4. To be hot--as in a fever; to heat--as the fever, சுரங்காய. 5. To shine, to emit rays, பிரகாசிக்க. 6. To be dried--as the humors of the body; to become emaciated, to suffer from hunger, மெலிய. 7. To dry up, to begin to heal--as a sore, a wound, a boil, &c.; to cicatrize, புண்ணாற. 8. To be displeaced, indignant, provoked; to show signs of anger, கோபிக்க. 9. To be distressed by love-sickness caused by the moon, the warm season. &c., காமத்தால் சோர. 1. To be furious, சினக்க. 11. v. a. To speak sharply; to reprove, scold, reprimand, கடிய. 12. To emit, to shed, to pour forth, கால. 13. To dislike, to offend, வெ றுக்க. 14. To cut, sever, வெட்ட. 15. He falls foul of persons. காய்ஞ்சுபோக--காய்ந்துபோக, inf. To grow dry, become parched. கறிகாய, inf. To boil, or be cooked--as curry. குளிர்காய--நெருப்பிற்காய inf. To warm one's self at the fire. சரீரங்காய, inf. To be emaciated--as the body, by fever, hunger, labour, journeying, &c. நிலங்காய, inf. To be dry--as the ground after rain. நிலாக்காய, inf. To shine--as the moon; to have moon-light. வாய்காய, inf. To be dry--as the mouth, lips, &c. வாய்வயிறுகாய, inf. To be parched--as the mouth and heated as the stomach; to suffer with hunger. வெயில்காய, inf. To bask in the sun, to warm one's self in the sun. வெயில்காய்கின்றது.
