A creeping plant, சிறுகுறிஞ்சா, Periploca, L. அமுதப்பார்வை, s. A favorable or propitious look. as of a lady towards her admirer, குளிர்ந்தபார்வை. அமதமேந்தல், v. noun. Giving food to ascetics and other virtuous persons, guests, as one of the nine kinds of புண்ணியம், and of the sixteen உபசாரம். அமுதயோகம், s. [in astrology.] The auspicious conjunction of a certain day of the week, phase of the moon and lunar constellation. See யோகம். அமுதர், s. Celestials, வானோர். 2. Herdsmen, இடையர். (p.) அமுதவல்லி, s. The களா berry is as black as a crow. மதுரையின்வடக்குச்சிதம்பரம். Sethamparam is situated to the north of Madura. கல்வியிற்பெரியன்கம்பன். Kampan made himself great by learning. ஐந்தாங்கால், s. The first post of the marriage shed when planted on the fifth day before the marriage, the third, fifth, or seventh day being chosen, as it may be lucky or otherwise, according to astrological calculation, மணப்பந்தரின் ஐந்தாங்கால். ஐந்தானம், s. The fifth lunar asterism, மிருகசீரிடம். (p.) ஐந்திணை, s. The five kinds of land, &c., ஐவகைநிலம். (See திணை.) 2. The closest friendship or love between husbands and wives, அன்புடைக்காமம். [commonly ஐவேலி.] A creeping plant whose leaf is supposed to resemble the fingers, a pentadactyle, ஓர்கொடி, Bryonia laciniosa, L.-Note. In this plant the god Siva is said to have concealed himself when pursued by பஸ்மாசுரன், who had, by penance, obtained from him, as a boon, power to destroy all on whose head he should place his hand. ஐவிரல், s. kc (p. 85) க்கிறது, ந்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To taste bitter, harsh, astringent, &c., கை க்க. 2. To be embittered--as the mind, to be disgusted with, be alienated from, வெ றுக்க. சத்திபதிந்தல்லாதுவிடையங்கசக்கமாட்டாது. Unless divine power be exerted on the mind, sensual objects will not lose their charms. ஒருத்தன்மேலேகசந்திருக்க, inf. To be bitter against any one. கசப்பு, v. noun. Bitterness, astringency, கைப்பு. 2. Disgust, alienation of the affections, வெறுப்பு. துறவிக்குப்பிரபஞ்சங்கசப்பு. To grow hard, difficult, obdurate, to indurate, வன்மைப் பட. கடினப்படுத்த, inf. [caus.] To harden the heart, &c., to indurate, வன்மைப் படுத்த. கடினப்பட்டமனம்--கடினமனம், s. A hard or unfeeling mind, obduracy. கடினமாய்ப்பேச, inf. To speak harshly, roughly. கடினமானநிலம், s. A hard soil. கடினமானபாடம், s. A hard lesson. மனக்கடினம், s. Hard-heartedness, cruelty. 68) *

kṭu (p. 87) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To throb--as from a sting, venomous bite, the prick of a thorn, tooth-ache, விரு விருக்க. 2. To ache--as with colic, dysentery, &c.; to have pain as the leg from walking; the shoulders or head from carrying a load; the mouth from speaking; the arm from writing, &c., உளைய. 3. To be seasoned too highly, or otherwise spoiled--as curry, commonly, கடுகடுக்க. 4. (p.) To be like, to resemble, ஒக்க. 5. To be in doubt, or uncertainty, to hesitate, ஐயுற. 6. To be angry, impatient, fretful, கோபிக்க. 7. To pass swiftly, விரைய. கடுத்தபின். When (the king) suspects. (குறள்.) கடுத்துப்போனதண்ணீர். Bad water, water unpleasant to the taste. அடுத்ததுகாட்டும்பளிங்கேபோல்நெஞ்சங்கடுத்ததுகா ட்டுமுகம். The face indicates the resentment of the heart, as the mirror reflects the shape of things placed before it. ஊமன்கண்ணிலாதவற்குரைத்தலுங்காண்டலுங்கடுக் கும். It is as if a blind man saw a thing which a dumb man told him to look at. கடுவரைநீரிற்கடுத்துவரக்கண்டு. Seeing it coming as rapidly as the impetuous mountain torrent-- (வெண்பாமாலை.) கடுத்துப்பேச, inf. To speak harshly. கடுப்ப, inf. Used as a particle of comparison--as பிள்ளைகடுப்பப்பிணம்பிறங்க, the bodies (of those who fell in battle) appeared (to move their dying limbs) like infants. (வெண்பா.) கடுத்தல், v. noun. Doubt, ஐயம். 2. Wrath, கோபம். 3. Vehemence, வேகம். 4. Comparison, உவமை. (p.) கடுப்பு, v. noun. Pains, throbbing, throe, எரிவு. 2. Anger, displeasure, impatience, peevishness, சினம். 3. Speed, rapidity, impetuosity, great haste, வேகம். அவருடையகடுப்பெல்லாமாறிப்போயிற்று. His peevish arrogance is now all gone (his means being reduced). கடுப்பிறக்குதல், v. noun. Reducing one's pride, arrogance. கடுப்புக்கழிச்சல், s. A painful dysentery. கடுப்புச்சூடு, v. noun. Cauterizing oxen after castrating as a counteroperation to promote healing. கடுப்பெடுத்தல், v. noun. Being in pain, aching. 2. Reducing one's pride, arrogance. வாதக்கடுப்பு, s. Rheumatic pains in the limbs. நீர்க்கடுப்பு, s. Dysury, strangury. மூலக்கடுப்பு, s. Dysentery, tenesmus. வயிற்றுக்கடுப்பு, s. Griping of the bowels. மனக்கடுப்பு, s. Indignation, resentment. 72)

kṭukṭu (p. 87) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. [intens. of கடுத்தல்.] To show signs of anger by sour looks, harsh words, &c., சினக்குறிப் புக்காட்ட. 2. To speak harshly, கோபமாகப் பேச. 3. To throb--as the flesh after the bite of a scorpion, the sting of a venomous insect, or the severe prick of a thorn, &c., விருவிருக்க. 5. To be highly seasoned, உறைக்க. கறிகடுகடுத்துப்போயிற்று. The curry is too highly seasoned; i. e. too salt, too acid, &c., the taste being unpleasant. கடுகடுத்தமுகம், s. An angry, austere countenance. கடுகடுத்துப்பேச, inf. To speak harshly. கடுகடுப்பு, v. noun. Sullenness, displeasure of countenance, வெறுப்பு. 2. Being highly seasoned. கடுகடுப்பாயிருத்தல், v. noun. Being austere, angry. 73)
