A dog, நாய். அற்ப ஆசை கோடிதவத்தைக்கெடுக்கும். The coveting of a small thing destroys the penance of years. இதொரு அற்பகாரியம். This is a trifling thing. அற்பசங்கை--அற்பாசமனம், s. The act of making urine, modesté--in reference to those who wear the string. அற்பத்தனம், s. Vileness, meanness. அற்பபுத்தி, s. Low wit, folly, silliness. அற்பமாய், adv. Meanly, basely, vilely. அற்பன், s. (pl. அற்பர்.) An inferior, low-caste or ill-bred person, a mean person. அற்பனுக்குப்பவிஷுவந்தாலத்தராத்திரியிற்குடை பிடிப்பான். If a mean person has obtained wealth, he will carry an umbrella even at midnight. 67)

iẕi (p. 55) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. n. To descend, dismount, sink, fall into, to be involved in, இறங்க. 2. To be degraded, disgraced, to degenerate, to be reduced in character, estimation, rank or circumstances, இழிவுபட. 3. To fall below mediocrity, to be inferior, to be below in comparison, தாழ. இழிகடை, s. [vul.] The meanest, lowest, most degraded, மிகவிழிந்தது. (Abusively.) அவனொரு இழிகடை. He is a low wretch. இழிகண், s. Inflammation of the eyes causing the lids to droop, இழிந்தகண். இழிகுலத்தோர், s. Low caste people, கீழ்மக்கள். இழிசனர், s. Persons of low caste, illiterate or ill-bred people, கீழ்மக்கள். இழிசனர்வார்த்தை, s. The vulgar dialect. இழிசொல், s. Disgraceful or improper language, பழிச்சொல், of which four kinds are enumerated, viz.: 1. கோள் --குறளை, an invidious or injurious report, tale bearing, aspersion, slander, backbiting. 2. பொய்மொழி, lying, falsehood. 3. கடுஞ்சொல், harsh expressions, irritating language, scolding. 4. பயனில்சொல், nonsense, idle talk, vain expressions. 2. A vulgar word, இழிவானசொல். இழிஞர், s. Low caste people, the vulgar, the wretched, the miserable, debased, ignoble persons, சண்டாளர். இழிதகவு, v. noun. Inferiority, baseness, disgrace, degradation, meanness, இழிவு. 2. s. Poverty, destitution, எளிமை. இழிதிணை, s. The inferior class. See திணை. இழிந்தோர், s. The vulgar, the illiterate, low-bred persons, தாழ்ந்தோர். இழிபு, v. noun. Lowness, inferiority, meanness, degradation, baseness, தாழ்வு. 2. A hollow or ditch, any hole or cavity, depressions in land, பள்ளம். வெள்ளைக்கிழிபு, s. The less or minor species of வெண்பா verse. இழிவு, v. noun. Inferiority, lowness in rank or character, meanness, baseness, தாழ்வு. 2. Contempt, disgrace, dishonor, ignominy, abjectness, wretchedness, abasement, நிந்தை. 3. Diminution, decrease, a diminished quantity, deficiency, குறைவு. 4. A hollow or cavity, பள்ளம். 5. Decay, ruin, destruction, கேடு. 6. Fault, blemish, deviation from rule, misdemeanor, குற்றம். இழிவறிந்துண்பான். One who eats knowing the advantages of a spare diet. இழிவுபட, inf. To grow mean, base, vile, to deteriorate, be in disgrace, to be degraded, ஈனப்பட. இழிவுபடுத்த, inf. v. a. To degrade, disgrace, deteriorate, debase, தாழ்வுபடுத்த. இழிவுபண்ண, inf. To treat with contempt, நிந்தைசெய்ய. தனதுமரபினிழிவுயர்ச்சியின்றி. (Choosing a wife) from a family neither above nor below his rank. 34)

uṟuppu (p. 68) s. A limb, or member of the body, parts, features, அவயவம். 2. Body, உடல். 3. Part (of a whole) component part, member, subdivision, department, section, பங்கு. 4. Just proportion, symmetry, அங்கலட்சணம். 5. Abundance, மிகுதி. 6. Bough, மரக்கொம்பு. 7. Closeness, narrowness, நெருக்கம். 8. A copy of single letters set for a child to imitate, மேல்வரிச்ச ட்டம். 9. Title deed, registry, &c. of land, காணியாட்சிப்பத்திரம். அந்தக்காணிக்கோருறுப்புமில்லை. There is no security, title, &c. for that land. உறுப்படக்கி, s. A tortoise, a turtle --from the contraction of its limbs, ஆமை; [ex உறுப்பு, et அடக்கி, from அடங்கு contraction.] உறுப்பணங்கெட்டவன். [prop. உ றுப்பினங்கெட்டவன்.] An ill-shaped, maimed, ugly person. 2. (Rott.) உறுப்பினங் கெட்டவன், A foolish, a witless fellow. உறுப்பற்றவன்--உறுப்புக்குறைந்த வன். An ill-formed, or deformed person, அவயவவீனன். 2. An ill-bred person. ஒழுக்கமில்லான். உறுப்பில்பிண்டம், s. The embryo. See எச்சம. உறுப்புக்குறைவிசேடம், s. [in rhetoric.] A species of the figure called விசேடம். உறுப்புத்தோல், s. A species of deer-skin which, according to the shasters, the Brahman should fasten to his sacred cord, நூலிற்கட்டியமான்றோல். உறுப்புநலனழிதல், v. noun. Decaying or withering--as the beauty of a female, on account of the absence of her lover, அங்கத்தழகுகெடுதல். உறுப்புமயக்கம், s. A prodigy, a monster, one whose limbs are redundant, defective, &c. See எச்சம். உறுப்புள்ளவன், s. A vigorous, well-formed man, அங்கலட்சணமுடையவன். 2. A man of enterprising character, qualified for business, திறமையுடையான். 3. A man of good conduct, அறத்துறுப்புடை யான். 4. A man of good manners, ஒழுக்கமுள்ளவன். காணிக்குறுப்புப்பண்ண, inf. To get a title deed passed for land. அகத்துறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts of virtue; they are eight in number. 1. ஐயப்படாமை, Freedom from doubt and uncertainty. 2. விருப்பின்மை, Liberation from the desires of the senses. 3. வெ றுப்பின்மை, Freedom from antipathy, prejudice, &c. 4. Exemption from illusion, confusion of mind, error, ignorance, &c. 5. பழியைநீக்கல், Freedom from evils. 6. அழி ந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், Restoring the ruined or apostate. 7. அறம்விளக்கல், Expounding or elucidating the nature of virtue. 8. பேரன்புடைமை, Great kindness, or benevolence to all sentient creatures. நூலுறுப்பு, s. One of the members or component parts of a treatise. மதிலுறுப்பு, s. The component parts of a fortification. திருவுறுப்பு, s. A jewel worn by bridegrooms upon their foreheads--a sign of the goddess இலக்குமி. செய்யுளுறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts or elements of poetry, as given in காரிகை, they are six, viz.: 1. எழுத்து, Letters forming thirteen classes. 2. அசை, Metrical syllables of two kinds. 3. சீர், Metrical feet of thirty kinds. (See. சீர்.) 4. தளை, Combination of feet one with another, of seven kinds. 5. அடி, Metrical lines determined by the number of feet of which they are composed, five kinds are given. 6. தொடை, Rhyme, forty-three species are enumerated. சீட்டினுறுப்பு, s. The style or different parts of a writ, or deed, &c. 5)

kāṭu (p. 103) s. An uncultivated tract of land covered with forest-trees, thick, impenetrable brush wood, creeping plants and coarse, rank, reedy vegetation, a waste, a thicket, வனம். 2. Deserts, forest tracts, ஆரணியம். 3. A desert place for burning the dead, சுடுகாடு. 4. fig. Excessiveness much, closeness, &c., மிகுதி. 5. Wild, rough, uncultivated, unpolished, &c., used as a prefix--as காட்டுப்பசு. 6. A nominal termination to some words of verbal derivation, தொழிற்பெயர்விகுதி--as சாக் காடு. (c.) 7. (p.) A place, இடம். 8. A border, a limit, எல்லை. 9. A town, ஊர். 1. The second lunar asterism, பரணிநாள். 11. Chaff, straw, &c., செத்தை. காடுவாவீடுபோவென்கிற காலம்வந்தது. The time has arrived when the desert says, come, and the house says, go. இந்தவூருக்குக்காடுகொஞ்சம். This village has but little arable land. காடாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be covered with jungle or wood. நிலங்காடாய்க்கிடக்கிறது. The ground is uncultivated. கடாய்ப்போக, inf. To become waste, to grow woody. காடாரம்பட்டு, s. A village situated in a wild tract of land near Vedarniam. காடாற்ற, inf. To perform the ceremony of quenching the fire where a corpse has been burnt, gathering the remains and taking them in a new pot to some water representing the Ganges, பாற்றெளிச்சடங்குசெய்ய. காடுகாட்ட, inf. To deceive, disappoint, lit. to show the place of burning the dead. காடுபடுதிரவியம், s. The productions of the desert, காட்டிலுண்டாகுந்திரவி யம். See under திரவியம். காடுபலியூட்ட, inf. To sacrifice to the sylvan nymphs before hunting, காட் டில்வாழுந்தேவர்களுக்குப்பலியிட. காடுவசாதி, s. [prov. prop. காடுவாழ் சாதி.] Savage tribe. காடுவசாதியாய்த்திரிய, inf. To be slovenly, sluttish, &c., to be careless, negligent of one's dress, &c., 2. To be vagrant, idle, &c., as a child for whom no one cares. காடுவாரி, s. [prov.] A rake, ஓர் கருவி. 2. One who scrapes up all he can, சேர்ப்பவன். 3. One who resorts to any kind of labor for support. காடுவாழ்த்து, s. A section of a war poem, extolling the jungle of the sylvan goddess, &c., where the battle occurred, வனதேவதையைவாழ்த்தும்பிரபந்தம். காடுவெட்டி, s. A wood-cutter, a savage, an untaught man. காட்டகத்தி, s. A shrub, வீழி, Cadaba Indica. காட்டத்தி, s. A species of the அத்தி tree, downy mountain ebony, Bauhinia tomentosa. (Mat. Ind.) காட்டழல், s. Jungle fire, kindled by the friction of trees, &c., காட்டுத்தீ. காட்டாள், s. A rustic, rural person, நாகரீகமில்லாதவன். காட்டான், s. The wild cow,காட் டுப்பசு. 2. [prov.] Stranger, பிறன். காட்டிலேபோக, inf. To be lost, to waste. காட்டுக்கடலை, s. A small tree or plant, ஓர்செடி. Rough melastoma, (Melastoma aspera) or Indian current bush. (Mat. Ind.) காட்டுக்கல், s. A rough hard kind of stone, ஓர்வைரமானகல். காட்டுக்கீரை, s. Different kinds of wild greens mixed together. காட்டுச்சீரகம், s. A wild cumin, purple fleabane, ஓர்பூண்டு, Vernonia anthelmintica. காட்டுச்சீரகவள்ளி, s. An esculent creeper--as காட்டுக்காய்வள்ளி. காட்டுச்சேவல், s. [prop. காடேறி.] A jungle imp, a sylvan nymph, a demoness. புகைக்காடு, s. A great smoke. குடிக்காடு, s. Many houses together, a village, town. பிணக்காடு, s. A field covered with corpses. பருத்திக்காடு, s. A cotton field. நெருப்புக்காடு, s. A large fire. புன்செய்க்காடு, s. High dry land. புல்லுக்காடு, s. Pasture land. வெள்ளக்காடு, s. A general flood. பெருங்காடு, s. Large jungle. பனங்காடு, s. A thick palmyra grove. இடுகாடு--சுடுகாடு s. A place for burying, burning the dead. சுடுகாட்டுக்குப்போனபிணந்திரும்புமோ. Will the corpse which has been carried to the cemetery ever come back again? சுடகாட்டுவைராக்கியம். A good resolution formed on the occasion of a funeral is soon forgotten. சுடுகாட்டுமணிபொறுக்கி, s. To be convenient or proper, to be well, or pleasantly situated. பாங்காய்ச்சமைக்க, inf. To cook nicely. கடவுள்பிரபஞ்சத்தைப்பாங்காய்ச்சமைத்தார். God created the world very well. பாங்காய்நடக்க, inf.
