ari (p. 23) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To sift, separate larger and smaller bodies with the hand, sieve, riddle, &c., கொ ழிக்க. 2. To separate rubbish from dried leaves with the hand, in order to gather the latter for fuel, சருகரிக்க. 3. The screaching of the squirrels indicates the proximity of a snake. மாரித்தவளைபோலேயேன்கத்துகிறாய். Why do you croak like a frog in the rainy season? --said of one who talks too much, or importunes unceasingly. கத்து, v. noun. Crying, bawling, கூப்பிடுகை. 2. Chattering, unmeaning or idle talk, vain babbling, nonsense, mere declamation, பிதற்றுகை.--Note. Exalted devotees use this term concerning the opinions, &c., of other sects or of those of the same sects, but inferior to themselves. சமயக்கத்து, s. The arguments or wrangling of religious disputants. 2. Religious tenets exclusive of the sublimer or experimental parts. In both meanings the usage is sarcastic, spoken by opponents or by those who have arrived at an exalted degree. பொய்ந்நூலாம்அச்சமயக்கத்தினாராதரிக்கத்தெய்வ ங்கள்வைச்சமயக்கத்தினார்வாழ்வு. (Tiruvancadum) is the residence of Vishnu who appointed various gods to please wrangling fanatics. (திருவேங்.) வீண்கத்து, s. Vain, insignificant words, prating. 22) *

kurngku (p. 124) s. [adjectively குரக்கு, in poetry.] A monkey, வானரம். 2. A climbing plant, முசுமுசுக்கை. 3. An animal in general--as குரங்கம், குராகம். குரங்கின்கைப்பூமாலை. A flower-garland in the hands of a monkey; i. e. a thing of value with one who knows not its use. குரங்குக்குந்தன்குட்டிபொன்குட்டி. Even to a monkey her young is as gold; i. e. one thinks highly of his own. குரங்குதன்குட்டியின்கையைக்கொண்டுபதம்பார்க்கி றதுபோலப்பார்க்கிறான். He tests it by another, as a monkey does a new object by the hand of her young. குரங்குமனம், s. A monkey-mind, retaining its grasp, notions, &c., without inquiry, or discrimination. குரக்குமுகம்--குரங்குமுகம்--குரங்கு மூஞ்சி, s. A monkey face. குரக்குவலி--கொறுக்குவலி, s. A kind of disease with which monkeys are commonly said to be affected. குரங்காட்டம், s. Apishness; apish tricks, antics, &c. 2. v. noun. Harassing, annoying, treating one as a mere monkey. குரங்காட்டமாட--குரங்காட்டங்கொள் ள--குரங்காட்டம்பண்ண, inf. To annoy, to treat one as a monkey. குரங்குகடியன், s. [prov.] A cocoanut, injured at the top, as if by a monkey, squirrel, &c., பழுதுற்றதேங்காய். குரங்குச்சம்பந்தம், s. The mode of a monkey's hold, grasp, &c., to which the hold of the soul on God is sometimes compared.--Note. The hold of a God on a soul is compared to that of a cat on its young. குரங்குச்சேட்டை--குரங்குச்சேஷ்டை, s. Mean, monkeyish tricks--as scratching and eyeing carefully; apish imitation. குரங்குச்சேட்டைபண்ண, inf. To play apish tricks; to act meanly; to mimic, in a low manner. குரங்குப்பிடி, s. A firm grasp--as that of a monkey. 2. Dogmatism in opinion, பிடிவாதம். 3. Urgency, importunity. குரங்குவலி, s. Numbness and pain in the limbs with shivering; a spasmodic affection, incident to puerperal women, ஓர்நோய். 26)

kol (p. 146) --கொல்லு, கிறேன், கொன்றேன், வேன், கொல்ல, v. a. To take life, kill, slay, murder, கொலைசெய்ய. 2. To deprive mercury of its metallic properties by oxidation; to kill mercury, &c., இரசமுதலிய வற்றைக்கொல்ல. (c.) 3. (fig.) To vex, tease; to molest by continual importunity, அலட்ட. அரசனன்றுகொல்லுந்தெய்வம்நின்றுகொல்லும். The king is swift in executing judgment, but God waits. பார்க்கும்பார்வைஆsைக்கொன்றுபோடும். curṇṭu (p. 195) கிறேன், சுரண்டினேன், வேன், சுரண்ட, v. a. (improp. சுறண்டு.) To scratch off, abrade, scrape off with a finger-nail, or an instrument; to erase, நகமுதலியவற்றினாற் சுரண்ட. 2. (fig.) To drain one's property away; to crave, solicit meanly, கவர. 3. To scratch or draw the tip of the finger lightly over one as a token or notice, சீ ண்ட. 4. To instigate, excite, தூண்ட. 5. Bribing all persons in authority, இலஞ்சங்கொடுக்கை. சுற்றுப்பட்டு--சுற்றுப்புறம், s. Place or region round about. See பட்டு. சுற்றுப்பட்டுக்கிராமம், s. Suburbs, villages adjoining a town. சுற்றுப்பிரகாரம், s. The circular area around a temple. 2. An outer court. சுற்றுமதில், s. A surronding wall, commonly of a temple. சுற்றுமுற்றும், adv. [prov. சுற்றும் பிற்றும்.] All about, all round. c. சுற்றுமுற்றும்பார்க்க, inf. To look on all sides. சுற்றுவழி, s. As சுற்று, 4. 2. To dress one's self, invest, to gird, சீலைசுற்ற. 5. (in cant usage.) To circumvent, get by trickery, வஞ்சிக்க. 6. To whirl, twirl, brandish, சுழற்ற. (c.) எல்லாவற்றையுஞ்சுற்றிக்கொண்டுபோய்விட்டான்.
