kuẕai (p. 129) s. Young leaves, sprouts, foliage, boughs, twigs, தளிர். 2. Soft, well trodden mud; slime, சேறு. 3. Ear-jewels, குண் டலம். 4. (சது.) A tube, துளையுடைப்பொருள். 5. The நெய்தல் plant. மரங்குழைமண்டிப்போயிற்று. The tree abounds with thick foliage. குழைக்காடு, s. [prov.] The country-as distinguished from the city; a jungle, compared with more cultivated parts --as பட்டிக்காடு. குழைக்காட்டான், s. A rustic; a clown. குழைநாற்றம்--குழைவீச்சம், s. An unpleasant, leafy or grassy smell. குழைமறைவு, v. noun. Foliage, shrubbery, trees, &c., intercepting vision. 2. Sculking, &c., from creditors. குழைபிடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To obstruct an affair-from the practice of the Kandians, holding a bough before a person, as a sign of protestation, or of forbidding him to proceed. குழையடிக்க, inf. To recite incantations while shaking and drawing a handful of Margosa twigs over a sick or possessed person or animal, or one bitten by a snake. Mesmeric effects, similar to those occasioned by drawing the fingers in a particular way over the face of a patient, are sometimes produced by the above process, and ignorant people attribute them to the power of the incantations. 2. To vheedle; to use artful means in order to secure the interest of a person. 11)

cāṉavi (p. 181) --சான்னவி, s. The Ganges, as daughter of சன்னு, Jahnu, a Rishi whose devotion was disturbed by the river in its course, and who therefore swallowed its waters. Sagittarius of the Zodiac, தனுவிராசி. W. p. 322. CHAPA. 4. The young of an animal, குட்டி. (பார.) W. p. 84. SAVA. சாபங்கூற--சாபங்கொடுக்க--சாபஞ் செய்ய--சாபமிட--சாபம்போட, inf. To curse, to utter a malediction, especially with power, real or supposed, to give it effect. சாபத்தீடு, s. [vul.] An imprecation, a curse. 2. The effects of a curse. சாபநிவாரணம்--சாபநிவர்த்தி--சாபவி மோசனம், v. noun. The removal of a curse, usually by its author in consequence of some atonement, or intercession. சாபநீங்குதல்--சாபந்தொலைதல், v. noun. The expiring or removal of a curse. சாபம்நீக்க, inf. To remove the curse formerly pronounced upon certain medicinal plants by different Rishis; or by Sita wife of Rama, when in captivity in Lanka, to prevent their being employed as a philter to allure her affections. This is done by reciting the prescribed incantations before pulling up the plant. சாபம்பலிக்க, inf. To take effect--as a curse. (c.) சாபானுக்கிரகம், s. ceṭi (p. 202) s. Shrub, பூண்டு. 2. Shrubbery, bushes, thick foliage, புதர். 3. That which is maimed, decayed, faded, spoiled--as food, a flower, &c., பதனழிவு. 4. Sin, vice, demerit, பாவம். 5. Light, splendor, a luminous body, ஒளி. 6. [vul.] A matter of one importance, அற்பம்; used at the south --as செடிகிடக்கிறது. செடிக்காடு, s. [com. செடிங்காடு.] A low thicket, a jungle. செடிபற்ற--செடிமண்ட, inf. To become over-spread with bushes, brambles, weeds. 2. To be covered with foliage--as a tree. செடிமறைவு, s. Bushes, as intercepting sight, or as a place of concealment, lurking place, &c., Compare குழைமறைவு. செடியொண்ட, inf. To hide one's self under a bush. செடியன், s. A bad, worthless fellow. செடிவைக்க, inf. To plant medicinal or flower-shrubs. செடிச்சி, s. [prov.] A low, base woman, a strumpet, இழிந்தோள். உச்சிச்செடி, s. See under உச்சி. 86)

To be prompt, ready, forward, in a good sense, தலைப்பட. 6. To invoke, through one's intercession, துணை க்கொள்ள. உனக்குக்காரியமுன்னிடும்.
