yavaṉam (p. 370) s. A Mohammedan country, perhaps Bactria, or possibly Affghanistan. By late Hindu writers it is applied to Arabia. See தேசம். W. p. 682. YAVANA. யவனர், s. [pl.] Moormen, artificers, sculptors. See இயவனர்.--According to Wilson it is applied to both the Mohammedan and European invaders of India, and often used for any barbarous race. 71) *
