kruku (p. 96) கிறேன், கருகினேன், வேன், கருக, v. n. To be scorched, scarred, to darken, blacken by fire or the sun, to be tanned--as the countenance; to turn brown and sickly--as growing corn, &c.; to wither from want of water, to be burnt to tinder. சிரங்குகருகிப்போயிற்று. The itch is cured (dried, &c.). கொப்புளங்கருகிப்போயிற்று. The pustule is dried up. மருந்தெண்ணெய்கருகிப்போயிற்று. The medicinal oil is burnt. பயறுகருகிப்போயிற்று. The pulse is burnt in parching. கருகுமாலை, s. The dim evening twilight, மாலைவெளிச்சம். பல்லுக்கருக, inf. To turn dark as the teeth of a person on his death-bed-an indication of approaching death. முகங்கருக, inf. To darken--as the countenance from fear, anger, &c. மனங்கருக, inf. To be displeased, to have the affection alienated. உதடுகருக, inf. To become dried --as the lip. பயிர்கருக, inf. To become sickly --as growing corn. பொரியல்கருக, inf. To be burnt-as dried food. ஈரற்கருக, inf. To be smitten with anguish, fear, shame, &c. கருகல், s. Rice, curry, &c., burnt in cooking, கரிந்தது. 2. Betel leaves, grain or other vegetation scorched and blackened by the sun, கருகிப்போனது. 3. Obscurity in language, abstruseness, மறைபொருளானது. 4. Dimness of the evening twilight, dusk, மாலைவெளிச்சம். 5. v. noun. Being partially charred, or scorched, scarred, embrowned, tanned, தீதல். கருகலானபொரியல், s. A burnt stew or fry. கருகல்வெற்றிலை, s. A decoction of several kinds of drugs made by pouring water on them while heating in a vessel over the fire, கஷாயம். கருக்கரிவாள், s. A sickle. கருக்கழிய--கருக்குமழுங்க, inf. [vul.] To be blunted--as an edge, கூர் மழுங்க. கருக்கழிந்திருக்கிறது. The coin has lost its stamp, it is defaced. கருக்காக்க, inf. To make sharp. கருக்கானபணம், s. Newly coined money. கருக்கானவன், s. [com.] A sharpwitted man, கூர்மையாயிருப்பவன். 2. A man of guile, வஞ்சகன். கருக்கானவாள், s. A sharp sword. கருக்கிட, inf. To whet, edge, sharpen. கருக்குக்கஷாயம், s. A decoction, &c. கருக்குச்சுருட்டு, s. Guilefulness, crookedness of mind, வஞ்சகம். கருக்குப்பீர்க்கு, s. A kind of creeper whose fruit is used for curry. கருக்குப்போட, inf. To make a decoction of drugs. கருக்குவராகன், s. A new pagoda or coin on which the figures are well defined. கருக்குவாய்ப்பட, inf. To be rough edged. கருக்குவாளி--கருக்காமரம், s. The name of a tree, கருக்குவரய்ச்சி, with a dark jagged leaf, serrated, ஓர்மரம், Zizyphus trinervius. (Rott.) கருக்குவாள், s. A sword with a sharp edge, கருக்கானவாள். கருக்குவேலை, s. Work in stone or metal, bass-relief, raised-work, fret-work. கருக்குள்ளது, appel. n. That which is sharp-edged. கருக்கெடுபட, inf. To have the edge of an instrument removed by use. 125)
