iruḷ (p. 51) --இருளு, கிறது--இருண் டது--இருளும்--இருள, v. n. To become dark --as clouds before rain, to darken, இருட்ட. 2. To grow dark--as at the close of the day; to become obscure--as a heavenly or luminous body, மங்க. 3. To become dark or dim in color, ஒளிமழுங்க. 4. To become obscure or dark--as when over-spread with clouds, இருப்பட. 5. To darken or be dark, as the mind, be in ignorance, illusion, doubt, &c., மருள. மனமிருண்டுபோயிற்று. To lie in concealment in order to catch game, to lurk in order to catch one, பதுங்கியிருக்க. ஒளியிழக்க, inf. To be deprived of lustre or brightness, பிரகாசநீங்க. ஒளியுருவியகல், s. oḷ (p. 84) adj. Good, excellent, நல்ல. 2. Beautiful, அழகுள்ள. 3. Bright, glittering, luminous, பிரகாசமான. 4. Knowing, அறிவுள்ள. 5. Abundant, மிகுதியான. The ள் of this word is changed into ட் and ண் before appropriate letters, whence the nouns ஒட்பம், and ஒண்மை. ஒள்ளழல்கண்ணிற்கால. His eyes emitting bright sparks of fire through rage-ஒள்வாள், s. Glittering swords, ஒள்ளியவாள். ஒள்ளியர், s. The virtuous, those renowned for subjecting their passions and practising deeds of virtue, according to the shasters, மாசற்றவர். 2.
