iṟuku (p. 57) கிறது, இறுகினது, ம், இறுக, v. n. To become tight--as a bandage, knot, &c., to be strained, be close, hard, compact, &c.--as land dried by the sun, அழுந்த. 2. To grow thick in consistency, to coagulate, to be inspissated, be clotted, உறைய. 3. To congeal, become hard--as wax, metals, &c., to become dry--as mortar, clay, &c., கட்டியாக. 4. To become firm--as a loose tooth, பெலக்க. 5. To be close, rich, luxuriant--as growing corn, fruitful trees, &c., செறிய. எண்மண்டையிறுகிப்போயிற்று. My head feels day (needing oil and bathing). சளியிறுகிற்று. The phlegm (in the throat) is become hard. இறுகக்கட்ட, inf. To brace or fasten tight, close, compact, &c., அழுந் தக்கட்ட. இறுகத்தழுவ, inf. To be stingy, parsimonious, tenacious, செலவு செய்யாதிருக்க. இறுகவிறுக, [adverbially.] Very tight, drawn tighter and tighter, அழுந்த வழுந்த. இறுகினகை, s. Close-fistedness, parsimony, ஈயாதகை. இறுகினதேகம், s. A firm, compact body. இறுகினமனம், s. An unrelenting heart, a close or parsimonious mind. இறுக்கம், v. noun. tẕai (p. 229) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To flourish, to thrive, to grow luxuriantly, as vegetables, செழிக்க. 2. To flourish, as a family, people, state, &c., to multiply, to increase and prove lasting, வாழ. ஆல்போல்தழைத்துஅறுகுபோல்வேரோடிமூங்கில் போல்சுற்றமுசியாமல்வாழ்ந்திருப்பீர். May you prosper spreading like the banyan, taking root like the Agrostis linearis grass, and, surrounded by supports like the bambu, never fade away; a form of benediction to a young married couple. அன்புதழைக்க--அன்புதழைய, inf. pyir (p. 296) s. Growing grain, a crop, herbage, shrubbery, பைங்கூழ். 2. Any useful vegetable, plant, or even tree. (c.)--The different stages of growing corn, are ஏறினபயிர், grown up corn; கதிர்ப்பயிர், corn just earing; களைபறிபயிர், that which requires to be weeded; பாற்கட்டுப்பயிர், ear being milky; நடவுபயிர். corn transplanted; முதுபயிர், ripe grain; there are also நஞ்சைப்பயிர், புஞ்சைப் பயிர், கீழ்ப்பயிர், மேற்பயிர், சிறுபயிர், &c. பயிரடித்தல்--பயிருழவு, v. noun. To thrive as vegetation. பயிர்க்குடி--பயிரிடுங்குடி, s. A peasant. See குடி. பயிர்தீக்குங்காற்று, s. A wind that blasts the growing crops. பயிர்த்தொழில், s. [com. வேளாண்மைத் தொழில்.] Husbandry, agriculture. பயிர்நெருக்கம், v. noun. Closeness of corn, herbage; luxuriant growth. பயிர்ப்பங்கு, s. Share of the produce of trees appropriated to the cultivator. பயிர்வழி, s. Cultivated fields. 2. Way through the fields. பயிர்வழிமாசூல்பாக்கி. Arrears of the revenue of the field. பயிர்வெளி, s.
