māṇākkaṉ (p. 349) s. [a corruption of மா ணவகன், pl. மாணாக்கர்.] A scholar, pupil, student, disciple, கற்போன். (சது.) மாணாக்கர், 3. Three orders of scholars, as given in நன்னூல். They are: தலைமா ணாக்கர் or முதன்மாணாக்கர், the first or head scholars; இடைமாணாக்கர், the middling; கடைமாணாக்கர், the last. For particulars see Nannûl. அவர்கள் ஒருசாலைமாணாக்கர்.
