The opposite to இளமை is முதுமை. இளமையிலேபுண்ணியத்தோடேபழகு. Accustom thyself to virtue from thy youth. இளமையிற்கல். Learn from thy infancy. இளங்கதிர், s. Young ears of corn, பயிரினிளங்கதிர். 2. [prov.] A request, application, petition, &c., in writing. கேள்விகேட்பாடு, s. [local.] Judicial inquiry, investigation. கேள்வியற்றஊர்--கேள்வியில்லாதஊர், s. A town without justice. கேள்விமுறை, s. Inquiry into; superintendence, control, management. கேள்வியாக, inf. To be heard, to be reported; to reach the ears--as news; to be heard in court. கை கைகாட்டு, v. noun. Gesture with the hand, as in dancing; beck of the hand. கைகுவிக்க, inf. To hold up the hands joined, in worship, &c. See குவி. கைகுறண்ட, inf. To have the hands bent by spasms. 2. To be cramped in the hands. 3. To be stingy, parsimonious, close-fisted. கைகூச, inf. To be backward in using the hand. See கூசு. கைகூட, inf. To come to hand, be obtained, to succeed, அனுகூலப்பட. அவன்செய்வதெல்லாம் அவனுக்குக் கைகூடும். All that he does prospers. கைகூப்பு, v. noun. Raising the joined hands in worship--as கூப்பு. 2. The distance from the tip of the fingers to the feet, when the hands are joined and raised above the head. கைகொட்ட, inf. To clap the hands. கைகோக்க, inf. To clasp one another's hands, to join hands. 2. To be arm in arm, to take another's arm. கைகோத்தாட, inf. To dance with arms linked. கைகோள், s. A course of conduct, especially in love affairs. (அகப்பொ.) கேள்வி, v. noun. The grand subjects of information under four heads; 1. அ றம், virtue or a virtuous course of action; all knowledge relating to the nature or practice of virtue, or having virtue as its object, including religion, jurisprudence, ethies and every thing connected with the well-being of society, and the promotion of universal benevolence towards all sentient beings. This is subdivided into, 1. இல்லறம், the duties and usages of man--as a member of society. 2. துறவறம், the duties and practices of the recluse, who renounces social life and retires to the desert. 2. பொருள், wealth, property, substance; truth; all kinds of knowledge relating to the nature, acquisition and uses of learning and wealth--including. 1. கல்விப்பொருள், general knowledge, and science. 2. செல் வப்பொருள், property, trade, commerce and the various occupations for gain or the support of life. 3. இன்பம், delight, gratification, knowledge of the nature and means of pleasure and bliss--especially love and matrimony. 4. வீடு, liberation from births, knowledge relating to final emancipation or eternal felicity. --Note. Another classification makes five parts, the fifth embracing the practice of the rules laid down for the attainment of the benefits implied in the four. 72)

koḷuvu (p. 147) கிறேன்,கொளுவினேன், வேன், கொளுவ, [vul.] v.a. To hook, clasp, buckle, latch on a nail, to hook on; to grapple, பூட்ட. 2. To entangle and ensnare, to take in, to entrap, inveigle, அகப்படுத்த. 3. To take into partnership, கூட்டுச்சேர்க்க. 4. To contrive,. to manage by artifice, contrivance or scheming, தந்திரஞ்செய்ய. 5. To make an impression--as on the mind, பற்ற. 8. [prov. impersonal.] to have cramp, stitches, &c., in the bowels or side, &c., குடல்தூக்கிக்கொள்ள. அந்தவேலையிலே கொளுவினபின்பு. Since he was engaged in the business. கொளுவிக்கொள்ள, inf. To hook, to engage, to entangle. சங்கிலிகொளுவிக்கொண்டது. The chain has become entangled. கொளுவிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To entangle, catch, to ensnare a man--as a lewd woman. w. (Rott.) To prosecute a law suit. 3. To hook in, &c. கொளுவியிழுக்க, inf. To challenge one, or provoke one to a quarrel. 2. To bring one into trouble, difficulty, &c. கொளுவிவிட, inf. To fasten on earrings, &c. 2. To engage one in trade, an office, &c. 3. To marry a woman to one in low life. 4. To set people quarrelling. கொளுவிவைக்க, inf. To adjoin. (R.) கொளுவுகயிறு, s. [prov.] The loop of the string in an ola book, by loosening which the leaves may be taken apart. சண்டைகொளுவ, inf. To pick a quarrel. வேலிகொளுவ, inf. [loc.] To hedge; to enclose with a fence of wood. 12)

An epidemic, a pestilence, a plague, பெருவாரி நோய்; [ex கொள்.] கொள்ளைக்கடிக்கப்போனேன். [prov.] I have been working without pay, for that bad man--spoken as an imprecation. கொள்ளைக்கும்ஊழிக்குந்தப்பு. Flee from devastating armies, and from epidemics. கொள்ளைக்குப்போனாலுங் கூட்டாகாது. One who intends to pillage, should not associate with others. கொள்ளாகொள்ளை, s. [prov.] Great abundance, plenty. கொள்ளைகொடுக்க, inf. To be plundered. 2. To allow plunder--as a general to his troops. கொள்ளைகொள்ள, inf. To plunder, to ravage, to spoil. 2. To usurp, to monopolize. 2. (p.) To engross the mind, affections, desires, &c. கொள்ளைக்காய்ச்சல், s. Epidemic fever. கொள்ளைக்காரர், s. Plunders, murderers. கொள்ளைநோய், s.
