iḷai (p. 56) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To tire, grow weary, be fatigued, exhausted, to languish, தொய்ய. 2. To grow emaciated, be lean, meagre, &c., மெலிய. 3. To be worn out with age, sickness, &c., to become decrepit, தளர. 4. To become poor, be worn out--as land by continued cultivation, want of manure, &c., சக்திகுறைய. 5. To grow weak and wanting in luxuriance or fruitfulness--as trees, rice, &c., to fade--as a color, வளங்குறைய. 6. To fail before a foe or rival, to yield to superior force, தோற்க. ஒருத்தனுக்கொருத்தனிளையான். One is not inferior to the other, one will not yield to the other (they will fight till they die, except they to parted). இளைத்தோய, inf. To be exhausted from over-exertion. இளைப்பு, v. noun. Weariness, fatigue, exhaustion, faintness, மெலிவு. இளைப்பறுதி, s. Recruiting, recovery from fatigue. இளைப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be wearied. இளைப்பாற, inf. To rest, take rest, repose, இளைப்புத்தணிய. இளைப்பாறுமண்டபம், s. A room for rest or repose--1. For idols after a procession, before they are set in the usual place. 2. For kings, or other distinguished personages after journey. to wash their feet, &c. before entering their house, வசந்தமண்டபம். இளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To refresh, cause to rest, show civilities, &c. to travellers or weary persons, இளைப்பொழிக்க. வழியிளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To entertain and refresh travellers, offering them a seat, water to wash their feet, fanning them, &c. மன்றலந்தென்றல்வீசி வழியிளைப்பாற்றினாளே. She (the Ganges) refreshed them by causing the fragrant south wind to blow. (பாரதம்.) இளைப்பாற்றி, s. Rest, resting, repose, cessation, இளைப்புத்தணிகை. இளைப்புற, inf. cuṇngku (p. 193) கிறேன், சுணங்கினேன், வேன், சுணங்க, v. n. [vul.] To be jaded, to be emaciated, மெலிய. 2. To delay, loiter, linger, தாமதிக்க. 3. To be hindered, interrupted, தடைபட. 4. To cringe, persist in asking, சுற்றுக்காலிட. சுணங்கல், v. noun. Being lean, meagre, மெலிவு. சுணங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்க, inf. To show lassitude, weakness, &c., in consequence of hunger or fatigue. 2. nrmpu (p. 270) s. Vein, artery, any blood vessel, any duct of the body, இரத்தநரம்பு. 2. A cat-gut-string of a musical instrument, as of a guitar, fiddle, &c., தந்தி. 3. Tendon, ligament, muscle, nerve, தசைநார். 4. Fibre in some fruits, also between the husk and shell of a cocoanut, நார். 5. Fibre, filament of leaves, tendril of a vine, &c., இலைநரம்பு. 6. A stringed instrument, யாழ்முதலியன. நரப்புக்கருவியாளர்--நரப்புக்கருவியை க்கொளுத்துமாக்கள், s. [plu.] Fiddlers, players on stringed instruments, lutists. நரம்பன், s. [fem. நரம்பி.] An emaciated person whose veins stand out, நரம் பெழுமுடம்பன். 2. A thin, meagre person, மெலிந்தோன். (c.) 3. [prov.] Tobacco leaf in which the fibres are prominent, ஓர்வகைப்புகையிலை. நரம்பினாதம்--நரம்பினோசை, s. The sound of the string of a musical instrument. நரம்புக்கயிறு, s. Cords sewed into the seams of a sail-cloth. 2. As நரம்பு. 2. நரம்புக்காய், s. A long thin fruit, as that of the முருங்கை. நரம்புச்சிலந்தி, s. [sometimes நரம்புச் சிலந்தி.] A long slender worm between the skin and muscles, guinea worm, ஓர்புண். (c.) 2. Boil on a nerve. நரம்புச்சுளுக்கு, s. Contraction of a ligament, or muscle. See சுளுக்கு. நரம்புப்பற்ற, inf. To become meagre, emaciated. நரம்புப்பிடிப்பு, v. noun. Cramp, spasm, convulsion, contraction of a muscle. நரம்புப்புடைத்தல், v. noun. Swelling of the veins, becoming prominent as the veins from straining or over-fulness as in singing, &c., or of a pregnant woman. நரம்புமுடக்கம், s. Contraction of the nerves. நரம்புவாங்க--நரம்பெடுக்க, inf. To take off the fibres from leaves, fruits. &c. 2. To cut the tendons of the feet; used in anger. 3. To oppress one. 4. To be reduced, emaciated, weak, thin; to shrink, to become lean, gaunt, meagre; to languish; to become reduced in body, mind or circumstances; to be slender, poor, or soft; to assume the form of a soft letter. நான்மெத்தமெலிந்துபோனேன். I became very lean. மெலிந்தஓசை, s. A soft voice. மெலிந்தகுடி, s. An impoverished family. மெலிந்தோன், appel. n. An unfortunate man, விபன்னன். (R.) மெலிவு, v. noun.
