iṉi (p. 57) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be sweet, delicious, savory, &c., to become sweet to the taste, தித்திக்க. 2. To be harmoniously pleasant to the ear, செவிக்கி னிதாக. 3. To be on terms of friendship and intimacy, இனியநட்பாக. 4. To have peculiar relish or love in or for any thing, practice, &c., ஒன்றினிடத்திலினிப்புக்கொள்ள. (c.) இனிக்கச்சொன்னான். He spoke sweetly, so as to please, to win, to fascinate, &c. இனிச்சபண்டம், s. [prop. இனித் தபண்டம்.] Confectionaries. இனிப்பு, v. noun. Sweet, sweetness, deliciousness, pleasantness, agreeableness, &c., இனிமை. வியாபாரத்திலேயவனுக்கினிப்புக்கொண்டது.... He has great pleasure in trade, he has found great profit in it. அவனுக்குமிவனுக்குமினிப்புக்கொண்டது..... These persons are very intimate. இனிப்புக்காட்ட, inf. To be sweet, melodious, delicious, இனிமையைத் தர. 2. To please one, allure, gratify, தித்திப்புக்காட்ட. இனிப்புத்தட்ட, inf. To be sweet to the taste, உருசிதட்ட. 2. Melody, music, இசை. ஒவ்வொருராகத்துக்குஒவ்வொருகீதமிருக்கிறது. To each tune there is a corresponding hymn or song. Each hymn or song has its proper tune. கீதசாத்திரம், s. Science of music--as சங்கீதசாத்திரம். கீதப்பாட்டு, s. A melodious song, a hymn. கீதம்பாட--கீதம்வாசிக்க, inf. To sing a hymn, a song, &c.; to chant. கீதவாத்தியம், s. A kind of ode to be sung to melodious tune and rhythmetical metre, ஓர்வகைக்கவி--as சயசாரதம். கமலமலர்ப்பாதா. O! thou lotus-footed. உளஞ்சற்றிரங்காதா. Is not mercy to thee sweet? அருள்செயலாகாதா. cārīram (p. 179) s. That which belongs to the body; corporeality, சரீரசம்பந்தமானது. W. p. 869. S'AREERA. 2. (Sometimes சாரிதம்.) A voice for singing, commonly good, இனிய குரல். 3. One of the thirty-two Upanishads, உபநிடதத்தொன்று. அவனுடையசாரீரம்நன்றாயிருக்கிறது. His voice is melodious. சாரீரமுள்ளவன், s. A person with a good voice for singing. 12)

tamiẕ (p. 223) s. Sweetness, pleasantness, melodiousness, இனிமை. 2. The tamil language, தமிழ்ப்பாஷை; of which there are two principal divisions, செந்தமிழ், high, or polished Tamil and கொடுந்தமிழ், common, or unpolished Tamil. A further division is இயற்றமிழ், prose, இசைத்தமிழ், poetic, and நாடகத்தமிழ், dramatic Tamil. For particulars, see these in their places. 3. Nature, state, quality, நீர்மை--Note. Tamil poets; (lit.) they in whom classical Tamil lives. தமிழ்வேதம், s. A book of four-thousand parts, நாலாயிரப்பிரபந்தம். 2. The books தே வாரம், and திருவாசகம்; also the குறள், of the poet, திருவள்ளுவர், is so called in eulogy. செந்தமிழ்நாடு, s. The districts where pure Tamil was spoken. See செந்தமிழ். கொடுந்தமிழ்நாடு. s. The twelve districts around the Madura kingdom, in the Tamil of which, irregularities and provincialisms weer found; as stated in the following stanza-தென்பாண்டி, குட்டம், குடம், கற்கா, வேண், பூழி பன்றி, அருவா, அதன்வடக்கு--நன்றாய சீதம், மலாடு, புனனாடு, செந்தமிழ் சேர் ஏதமில் பன்னிரு நாட்டெண். 114)
