aẕku (p. 31) s. Beauty, comeliness, handsomeness, elegance, propriety, fineness, யௌவனம். (c.) 2. The beauties or graces of language or style, நஙலின்பத்தழகு. These as given in the பாயிரம் of நன்னூல், are ten; viz.: 1. சுருங்கச்சொல்லல், speaking concisely. 2. விளங்கவைத்தல், treating a subject clearly and plainly. 3. நவின்றோர்க் கினிமை, acceptableness to the educated. 4. நன்மொழிபுணர்த்தல், using elegant words, suitable expressions. 5. ஓசையுடைமை, being pleasant to the ear with a good rhythm and cadence. 6. ஆழமுடைத்தாதல், being comprehensive, profound. 7. முறையின்வைப்பு, systematic arrangement, method. 8. உலக மலையாமை, being without obscurity or contrariety. 9. விழுமியதுபயத்தல், giving a good sense, as allegorical, &c. 1. விளங்குதார ணத்ததாகுதல், having common examples of as to be understood by all. 3. One of the eight வனப்பு, in composition, the proper choice of words. (See வனப்பு.) 4. Jaggary, coarse sugar சருக்கரை. (M. Dic.) (p.) அழகன், s. [fem. அழகி.] A handsome man. 2. [Per antonomasia.] The god Vishnu, honorifically, அழகர். அழகர்மலை, s. One of the hundred and eight places sacred to Vishnu. 2. One of the six places sacred to Subramania. அழகாரம், s. Brilliancy of expression, சித்திரமாகப்பேசுகை. 2. Mere, empty compliment, வீண்புகழ்ச்சியாகப்பே சுகை. (p.) அழகுகாட்ட, inf. To display one's beauty, ornaments, make a parade of dress, &c., 2. uṭmpu (p. 59) s. Body, உடல். 2. The body as assumed by the soul in its transmigrations according to the deeds of former births, உயிர்க்கிருப்பிடம். 3. (p.) A consonant, மெய்யெழுத்து. உடம்பைத்தேற்றிக்கொண்டன்றோயோகத்திலேபோ கவேண்டும். To engage in the austerities of a Yogi, one must strengthen himself by medicine. உடம்புதேற, inf. To be strengthened, to grow strong--as a convalescent person from food, exercise, &c. உடம்புநன்றாயிருக்க, inf. To be well, to be in health. உடம்பெடுக்க, inf. kṉai (p. 102) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. (generally used with the impers. terminations.) To sound, roar--as the sea, a drum, &c., ஒலிக்க. 2.
