ilakkiṉam (p. 52) s. [in astrology.] The rising of a sign above the horizon, the oblique ascension or the divisions of the equator which rise in succession with each sign in an oblique sphere--also defined as the arc of the equator which passes the meridian in the same time with each sign of the ecliptic, இராசிகளினுதயம். 2. kōḷ (p. 151) v. noun. [from கொள், v.] Taking, having, receiving, seizing, influencing, கொள் ளுகை. 2. s. Columny, aspersion, backbiting, defamation, false accusation, குறளை. 3. (குற). கோட்காரன்--கோட்சொல்லி, s. A talebearer, a slanderer, an informer, a divulger. கோட்கூறு, s. [in astrol.] A division of the rising sign into thirty parts, being the number of its degrees. (See இலக்கி னம்.) 2. Good or evil from the influence of the planets, கிரகங்களின்கோளாறு. கோட்சொல்ல, inf. To calumniate, inform against. 2. To act the part of a tale-bearer, to slander, to divulge secrets injuriously. கோளன், s. A tale-bearer, கோளுரைப் போன். கோள்குண்டணி, s. Tale-bearing and calumny. (c.) கோள்முடிய, inf. [prov.] To fabricate or tell tales; to enrage another's mind by slanderous reports. காணுங்கோள், s. The visible planets. See கிரகம். கரந்துறைகோள், s. Phenomena of the heavens, sometimes invisible and fanciful, but most of them regarded as ominous-as இராகு, Caput draconis, or the ascending node; கேது, Cauda draconis or the descending node; சூரியப்பிரதிவிம்பம், a sundog or false appearance of a second sun; பரிவேடம், halo round the sun or moon; வால்வெள்ளி, comets; வானவில், rainbow; தூமம், meteor, indistinct smoky phenomena. Four other invisible கோள், (காணா க்கோள்.) are spoken of as being of special importance in casting nativities and in other astrological calculations; viz: 1. குளிகன். 2. யமகண்டன். 3. அத்தப் பிரகரன். 4. காலன். 5. அருக்கன். கோளினால்வருந்தீங்கு. cuṭr (p. 193) s. Light, brilliance, brightness, lustre, ஒளி. (c.) 2. The sun, சூரியன். 3. The moon, சந்திரன். 4. Fire, நெருப்பு. 5. A burning lamp, விளக்கு. 6. The flame of a candle, தீச்சிகை. (சது.) சுடர்விளக்காயினுந் தூண்டுகோல் ஒன்று வேணும். Though a lamp burn brightly, it will need a wick-pricker, i. e, the best require stirring up. சுடரெறிய, inf. To radiate, gleam, sparkle--as some precious gems. சுடரெண்ணெய், s. Drops of burning oil from a lamp. 2. Oil burnt in drops for medicinal purposes. 3. Margosa oil extracted by fire. சுடரோன், s. The sun, சூரியன். சுடர்கால, inf. To emit rays--as the sun. (p.) சுடர்க்கடை, s. Fire fly, மின்மினி. (p.) சுடர்க்கொடி, s. Incense of burnt camphor, ஆரதிகர்ப்பூரம். சுடர்ச்செலவு, s. [in astrol.] A division of the rising sign into two equal parts, for casting nativities. See இலக்கி னம். சுடர்த்தகழி, s. A small candelabria. சுடர்நிலை, s. A candlestick, விளக்குத் தண்டு. (p.) சுடர்மழுங்க, inf. To grow dim as the sun or moon in an eclipse, or when overcast. 2. To become dim as a lamp. சுடர்மௌலியர், s. The Devas, or supernals, as radiantly crowned with divine gems, or a halo of glory, வானோர். சுடர்விட--சுடர்விட்டெரிய, inf. To burn brightly or cast a long flame, as a lamp. (c.) சுடர்விழ, inf. To drop, as burning flames from a lamp. சுடர்விழுத்த, inf. [prov.] To cause burning oil to fall in drops by setting fire to a cloth suffused with it. சுடர்விழியோன், s. Virabadra, a form of Siva, வீரபத்திரன். முச்சுடர், s. The sun, moon and fire, as representing the three eyes of Siva, சூரியசந்திர அக்கினி. சொரூபானந்தச்சுடர், s. An epithet of deity. See சொரூபம். 23)

taṟ (p. 230) [prop. தத்.] A Sanscrit prefix in Tamil, the த் being changed to ற் before க், ச், ப். தற்காலம், s. The exact precise time of an action or occurrence, the expected time, the given time being, நிகழ்காலம். 3. Coincidence in time, அக்காலம். 4. [astron.] A given time for which calculation is made.--Note. This word is often used synonymously with தற்காலசுத்தபுடம், which see. தற்காலகிரகநிலை, s. Planetary positions at a given time. 2. The horoscope at the moment of birth. (A term used in nativities.) தற்காலசுத்தபுடம், s. The true longitude or position of a planet at a fixed time. தற்காலமத்திமம், s. The mean longitude at a given time. தற்காலவிலை, s. The price at the time. தற்காலவிலைப்படிதருவேன். I will give as the price may be at the time. தற்காலிக்க, inf. [in astron.] To determine longitude, &c., for a given time, to make a reduction in the elements of calculation of the time given or sought. தற்சணம்--தச்சணம்--தட்சணம்--த க்ஷணம், s. The very moment, not a moment intervening, உடனே. 2. The present moment, அந்தக்ஷணம். தற்சம்ம, s. Words from the Sanscrit used in Tamil, or any of the other cognate languages, without change--as கமலம், the letters of which are the same in Sanscrit and Tamil, but சக்தி in Tamil, is சக்தி in Sanscrit. (சது.) தற்சமயம், s. The particular juncture, the exact moment required, அச்சமயம். 2. The best opportunity, a special season or juncture, உற்றசமயம். தற்பதம், s. Deity, கடவுள். (சது.) தற்பரம்--தற்பரன், s. Absolute deity independent of agencies, assumed energies or operations; i. e. deity quiescent or the male principle in the deity, கடவுள். 2. Siva, சிவன். தற்பரை, s. The Sakti, or female principle of deity, சத்தி. 2. [in astron.] The thirtieth part of the twinkling of an eye, ஒருமாத்திரையில்முப்பதிலொன்று. தற்பவம், s. tiṉam (p. 241) s. Day of twenty-four hours, நாள். W. p. 48. DINA. 2. Day-time, from sun to sun, பகல். 3. A great day, a holiday, திருநாள். 4. adv. Daily, as தினந் தோறும். (c.) தினகரன், s. The sun, as திவாகரன், ஆதித்தன்; [ex கரன், maker.] தினகவி, s. A poem in praise of a king, on his rising up and sitting down. 2. The poet who composed it, ஒர்புலவன். தினகாலம். The flood recurring at the close of each day of Brahma. தினமணி, s. (St.) Thew sun, as the pearl of the day. தினமயக்கம், s. Every day's illusion. சிவவாக். தினம்பார்க்க, inf. To distinguish lucky from unlucky days. தினவர்த்தமானம், s. Daily news. இன்றையதினம். To-day; நாளையதினம், tomorrow; நேற்றையதினம், yesterday; சுதினம், a good day--in salutation; துர்த்தினம், an unlucky day. தினாதினம், s. Various days. 2. A great or special day, (plural for sing. by way of eminence.) தினாந்தம், s. Evening, sunset, close of the day; [ex அந்தம், end.] தினாந்தரம், adv. Daily. 2. s. Intervening day or days, இடையாந்தரம். தினாம்சம், s. Part of a day; [ex அமிசம்.] தினாரம்பம், s. Beginning of a day, morning; [ex ஆரம்பம்.] தினார்த்தம்.s.
