iruḷ (p. 51) --இருளு, கிறது--இருண் டது--இருளும்--இருள, v. n. To become dark --as clouds before rain, to darken, இருட்ட. 2. To grow dark--as at the close of the day; to become obscure--as a heavenly or luminous body, மங்க. 3. To become dark or dim in color, ஒளிமழுங்க. 4. To become obscure or dark--as when over-spread with clouds, இருப்பட. 5. To darken or be dark, as the mind, be in ignorance, illusion, doubt, &c., மருள. மனமிருண்டுபோயிற்று. The mind is obscured or is under the power of illusion. வானமிருண்டது. The heavens grew black. இருண்டகாடு, s. A dark forest. இருண்டசிவப்பு, s. Dark red, red mixed with black. இருண்டமனம், s. A mind that conceals dark and diabolical designs. இருட்சி, v. noun. Darkness, obscurity, cloudiness, gloom, becoming dark, இருள்கை. 2. Mental darkness, ignorance of spiritual things, மருளுகை. 5)

kvi (p. 98) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To cover, over-spread, bent in or over, overshadow--as branches of trees, the heavens, clouds, &c.; to canopy, over-spread, bend over, வளைய. 2. To be eager, intent, earnest; to have the mind bent upon a thing, விரும்ப. (p.) மேகங்கள்மலைச்சிகரத்தைக்கவிந்துகொண்டன. The clouds have covered the mountain top. அவர்மனங்கவிந்திருக்கின்றது. He is very eager after it. வான்கவிந்தவையகமெல்லாம்பெறினும். Though the whole world canopied by the heavens be thy reward. கவிதை, v. noun. Bending, being concave, கலிவு. 2. s. An umbrella, குடை. 3. kvi (p. 98) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To cover-as with an umbrella; to canopy, over-spread, bend inwards, மூட. (p.) குடைகலித்தான். He covered himself with an umbrella. கவிப்பு, v. noun. Covering, concavity, a bending, curvity, flexure, inclination, மூடுகை. 2. s. An unbrella, a canopy, குடை. (p.) 3. In divination by astrology, the signs which stand as many signs forward from the rising sign, as the situation of the sun is from the ஆரூடம், இராசிக்கவிப்பு. (See ஆரூடம் and உதயம்.) 4. ceṭi (p. 202) s. Shrub, பூண்டு. 2. Shrubbery, bushes, thick foliage, புதர். 3. That which is maimed, decayed, faded, spoiled--as food, a flower, &c., பதனழிவு. 4. Sin, vice, demerit, பாவம். 5. Light, splendor, a luminous body, ஒளி. 6. [vul.] A matter of one importance, அற்பம்; used at the south --as செடிகிடக்கிறது. செடிக்காடு, s. [com. செடிங்காடு.] A low thicket, a jungle. செடிபற்ற--செடிமண்ட, inf. To become over-spread with bushes, brambles, weeds. 2. To be covered with foliage--as a tree. செடிமறைவு, s. Bushes, as intercepting sight, or as a place of concealment, lurking place, &c., Compare குழைமறைவு. செடியொண்ட, inf. To hide one's self under a bush. செடியன், s. A bad, worthless fellow. செடிவைக்க, inf. To plant medicinal or flower-shrubs. செடிச்சி, s. [prov.] A low, base woman, a strumpet, இழிந்தோள். உச்சிச்செடி, s. See under உச்சி. 86)

pṭr (p. 291) --படரு, கிறது, படர்ந்தது, பட ரும், படர, v. n. To pass, to proceed, செல்ல. 2. To extend as a creeping plant; to over-run, to over-spread, கொடிபடர. 3. To run, to ramify, to branch out in different directions, as the veins, ஓட. 4. To widen, to become diffused; to pervade, as perfume, பெருக. 5. To extend, as spots or eruptions on the skin, ஊர. 6. prppu (p. 297) கிறேன், பரப்பினேன், வேன், ப ரப்ப, v. a. To spread, to lay out, as goods, பொருள்பரப்ப. 2. To distend the legs in sitting, to expand the wings, &c., விரிக்க. 3. To disseminate, propagate opinions, or reports, to diffuse rays, odors, &c., to over-spread, with clouds or darkness, பரவச் செய்ய. 4. To people, to furnish with inhabitants, to stock with creatures, விருத்தி செய்ய. 5. To place confusedly as books on a table, ஒழுங்கின்றிவைக்க.--The compounds in most common use are, கடைபரப்புதல், exposing goods in a bazaar; ஓடுபரப்புதல், tiling a house; கீர்த்திபரப்புதல், spreading one's fame; மணற்பரப்புதல், spreading sand. ஏன்எல்லாம்பரப்பிக்கிடக்கிறது.
