uṇr (p. 59) --உணரு, கிறேன், உணர்ந்தே ன், வேன், உணர, v. a. To be conscious, to feel mentally, to perceive, understand, comprehend, arrive at, or possess full and perfect knowledge, அறிய. 2. To discern, distinguish, பகுத்தறிய. 3. To think, reflect or consider, meditate, contemplate, நினைக்க. 4. To feel, perceive by the touch, பரிசித்தறிய. 5. To learn, acquire knowledge, கற்றறிய. 6. To become reconciled-as man and wife, be reunited after a love quarrel, ஊடறீர. 7. To become free from delusion, doubt, error, &c.--as in waking from sleep; recovering from languor; acquiring spiritual perception, &c., தெளிய. (p.) தெய்வப்புலவனுக்குநாவுணருஞ்சித்திரவோடாவிக்கு க்கையுணரும். The tongue of the inspired poet and the hand of the painter perform their functions intuitively. [prov.] உற்றுணரெங்களிலொருவன். Insanity, intoxication, infatuation, bewilderment, உன்மத்தம். உணருமறிவு, s. Instinct, intuition. 2. Ready apprehension, cleverness. உணர்ந்தோர்--கற்றுணர்ந்தோர், s. The learned, persons of profound erudition, men of ability. உணர், v. noun. Feeling, perception, knowledge, intellect, உணர்வு. உணர்ச்சி, v. noun. Consciousness, feeling, intuition, perception, discernment, understanding, sensibility, knowledge, wisdom, judgment, experience, reason, learning, &c., acquiring knowledge, உணர்வு. என்காலிலேயுணர்ச்சியில்லை. My leg is devoid of feeling, affected by paralysis, &c. உணர்தல், v. noun. Being reconciled--as man and wife after a lovequarrel. ஊடலுணர்தல்புணர்தலிவைகாமங்கூடியார்பெற் றபயன். Disunion, reconciliation and the pleasures of love, those are the fruits of matrimony. (குறள்.) உணர்த்தி, s. [vul. prop. உணர்ச்சி.] Feeling. உணர்த்தியற்றவன், s. A man past feeling, one devoid of sensibility. உணர்த்தியுள்ளவன், s. A man of sensibility, one who is affected by the wants of others. உணர்வு, v. noun. Feeling, consciousness, intuition, perception, understanding, knowledge by means of the senses, உணர்கை. 2. Clear discernment, intellect, reason, தெளிவு. 3. Cessation from sleep, love quarrels, &c., ஊடலுந் துயிலுநீங்கல். 4. Acquiring of knowledge, learning, experience, acquaintance with science, &c., கற்றுணர்கை. 5. A sense, புலன். 6. Separation, நீங்கல். உணரவுணருமுணர்வுடையாரைப்புணரப்புணருமா மின்பம். To be united in friendship with the prudent who think of what they ought to think is productive of the highest felicity. (நாலடி.) உள்ளத்துணர்வுடையான். A man of great wisdom. உணர்வுகேடு, s. Forgetfulness, listlessness, inattention, உணர்ச்சியின்மை. 2. Want of understanding, அறிவீனம். நுண்ணுணர்வு, s. An acute perception. தேர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A man of improved understanding. தளர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A dull man, one slow of understanding. 114)

kuṉmam (p. 132) s. A disease, a chronic enlargement of the spleen; also, any glandular enlargement in the abdomen--as of the mesenteric gland, &c., causing indigestion, colic and great emaciation. There are eight kinds, viz: எரிகுன்மம், சத்திகுன்மம், சன்னிகுன் மம், சிலேட்டுமகுன்மம், குலைக்குன்மம், பித்தகுன்மம், வலிகுன்மம், வாதகுன்மம், which see severally. 2. A division of an army. (See குலுமம்.) 3. Bushes; thickets, தூறு. Wils. p. 294. GULMA. குன்மக்கட்டி, s. A formation or enlargement in the abdomen. அவனுக்குக்குன்மங்கண்டிருக்கிறது. He has the குன்மம் disease. குன்மசூலை, s. Nervous paralysis--also obstruction of the viscera. (Rott.) குன்மப்புரட்டு, s. [prov.] Dyspepsia; an acute pain, attending the குன்மம் disease from indigestion, causing vomiting, distortions, &c. குன்மவலி, s. Internal pain or gripe consequent on the குன்மம் disease. குன்மவாயு, s. Flatulency connected with the குன்மம் disease. 68)

caṉṉi (p. 173) s. Affection of the brain, apoplexy, paralysis, convulsions, delirium from fever, &c., சீதநோய்; [perhaps from the Sa. Sanipata, with its suffix apocopated.] --Note. In medical works, thirteen kinds of சன்னி are described. viz.: 1. கண்டகுப் சம், nervous affections of the throat, sore throat; [ex குப்சம், crookedness.] 2. சந்தி கம், (Union.) a disease arising from improper sexual intercourse. It is of two kinds. சுகசன்னி, of a man after bathing with the use of oil for anointing, and சூத கசன்னி, of a female during menstruation. 3. தாந்திரிகம், nervous debility. 4. பகீகனநேத்தி ரகம், affection of the nerves of the eye, blindness. 5. ருக்தாகம், pains of the body attended with thirst. 6. சிஃவீகம், nervous affection of the tongue, dumbness. 7. பிர லாபம், falling sickness, epilepsy. 8. அந்த கம், convulsion preceeding death. 9. ரக்த ஷடீவி, mucus mingled with blood from the nose. 1. சித்தவிப்பிரமம், fainting fits, syncope. 11. சீதகாத்திரகம் or சீதாங்கம், congestion of blood attended with spasms and profuse perspiration; spasmodic cholera. 12. கர்நீகம், nervous deafness. 13. அபின்னி யாசம், convulsion, distortions. சன்னிகுன்மம், s. Convulsive fits. (R.) சன்னிக்கட்டி, s. [prov.] A tumor near or in the ear, காதுவீக்கம். சன்னிக்குணம், s. The stage of a disease bordering upon that of coma, apoplexy, &c., 2. Symptoms, indications, &c., of coma, &c. (c.) சன்னிநரம்பு, s. Nerves of the great toe, which being injured are sometimes inflamed so as to produce lock-jaw. சன்னிநாயகம், s. A plant--black cumin, கருஞ்சீரகம். See சீரகம். 2. A medicinal plant, தும்பைப்பூண்டு. Phlomis Indic. L. சன்னிநாயன்--சன்னிகணாயன், s. (lit. god of fits.) As சன்னிநாயகம், 2. சன்னிபாதம், s. A morbid state of the three humors of the body resulting in paralysis, convulsions, &c.--as சன்னி. W. p. 891. SANNIPATA. சன்னிபாதசுரம், s. (also சன்னிவாதசுர ம்.) Convulsions accompanied with fever. சன்னிபிறக்குதல், v. noun. The inducing of coma. c. அலறுசன்னி, s. Convulsions accompanied with laughter, hysterics--as கம் பீரசன்னி. இரணசன்னி--புறவீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. External convulsions. இசிவுசன்னி, s. Lock-jaw. see underஇசி. v. உள்வீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. Internal convulsions; oppo. to புறவீச்சுச்சன்னி. மாந்தசன்னி, s. convulsions from indigestion, commonly in children. முகவாதசன்னி, s. Paralysis causing the distortion of the face. மூடுசன்னி, s. Stiffness, or rigidness, from straining the muscles, &c., பரிசமின்மை. 4. Dullness, sluggishness of the system from idleness, சோம்பல். 5. Paralysis, palsy, appoplexy, கன்னி. 6. Partial suspension of the bodily and mental powers, from consternation, taking sweets to excess, &c., மயக்கம். 7. Unfeelingness, from dainty living, மனக்கடினம். (c.) திமிரன்--திமிரி, s. A dull, slow, inactive person, or beast, திமிருடையோன். திமிரடக்க--திமிரெடுக்க--திமிர்வாங்க, inf. To reduce one's pride, to beat laziness out of one. திமிராளி, s. A paralytic; a sluggish person. திமிரேற, inf. To become sluggish or dull, through want or exercise. திமிர்கொண்டாட, inf. To be employed in mischief, tricks, &c. திமிர்பிடித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To become heavy, as the system. 2. To become numb, stiff, &c. 3. To become haughty and wanton. திமிர்விட, inf. To stretch and yawn from sleepiness. திமிர்வாதம்--திமிர்வாயு, s. Palsy, paralysis. 90)

muṭkkm (p. 356) s. Restraint, hindrance, confinement at home, தடை. 2. Lameness, contraction by paralysis, கைகால்முடக்கம்; [ex முடங்கு.] முடக்கமாய்ப்போக, inf. To become crippled, lame. 2. To be hindered. 3. To be spoiled, to perish. உன்னாலேஇந்தக்காரியமுடக்கமாய்ப்போயிற்று..... The thing has been hindered by you. 100)

muṭngku (p. 356) கிறேன், முடங்கினேன், வேன், முடங்க, v. n. To bend, contract, மடங்க. 2. To become lame or maimed, கைகால்முடங்க. 3. To be hindered, frustrated, தடைபட. (c.) முடங்குளை, s.
