The eight special advantages; viz. 1. ரூபம், beauty. 2. சம்பத்து, acquisitions. 3. வித்தை, skill. 4. விவேகம், wit, ingenuity. 5. குணம், good disposition. 6. தனம், gold. 7. நல் லகுலம், good caste. 8. வயது, age. அஷ்டதானபரீட்சை, s. intiriyam (p. 46) s. [contracted into இந்தியம்.] An organ of sense, or organ of the body, பொறி; [ex இந்திர, the soul or self, or what is with difficulty restrained by the soul.] There are three kinds of இந்திரியம், or sensual organs; viz.: those of perception, those of action and the intellectual organs. Wils. p. 133. INDRYA. I. ஞானேந்திரியம், the organs of sense or perception are five; viz.: 1. சக்கு, சட்சு or கண், the eye, the organ of sight having உருவம் or visible forms as its object. 2. சோத்திரம் or செவி, the ear, the organ of hearing, having சத்தம், (sound) as its object. 3. ஆக்கிராணம் or மூக்கு, the nose, the organ of smelling, having கந்தம், (odors) as its object. 4. சிங்குவை or நா, the tongue, the organ of tasting, having இரசம், (flavors) as its object. 5. தொக்கு or துவக்கு or உடம்பு, the surface of the body, the organ of feeling, having பரிசம், (touch or contact) as its object. III. அந்தக்கரணம் or அந்தரிந்திரியம், the intellectual powers are four; viz.: 1. மனம், the organ of thought or perception, emotion. 2. புத்தி, understanding, conception, reason, intellect--the organs of examination, investigation, reflection, comparison, device, experiment. 3. ஆங்காரம், emotion, self-importance, inflation, presumption, energy, impulse, the organ of excitement, resolution, effort, &c. 4. சித்தம், volition, will, purpose, determination, that power of the mind which leads to the accomplishment of objects. 2. ilingkam (p. 54) s. A sign, mark, token, symbol, அடையாளம். 2. The penis. ஆண்குறி. 3. The phallus or linga--a representation of the membra viri et mulieris used in temples as an object of worship, and regarded as deity under this emblem. It is also made of gold or silver and worn in a casket on the arm, the breast, or some other part of the body, as an amulet and as an object of veneration and worship. In both these cases it represents both sexes in conjunction, being emblematical of Siva and Sacti, or the male and female energies of the deity, சிவலிங்கம். In the Agama philosophy three lingas are mentioned; viz.: 1. Streelinga (ஸ்திரீலிங்கம்) the same as விந்து--the female linga common to male and female--including in both sexes the organs for secreting and containing the seminal fluid. 2. Purshalinga (புருட லிங்கம்) same as நாதம் (Natha) male linga, also common to both sexes, including in both sexes the genital organs for transmitting and combining the two productions essential to generation. 3. Napunchakalinga, (நபுஞ்சகம்) same as அலி, Ali or Alilinga, the neuter or rather hermaphrodite linga, being the physiological foundation of the other two, both as to their organization and functions. The image linga often bears this name; these three are distinguished by the terms அவன், அவள், அது. They are physiological and are found in such works as தத்துவக்கட்டளை, &c. There is another class of lingas called பஞ்சலிங் கம், the five lingas, popularly represented as deity under the emblems of the five elements, and worshipped in as many celebrated temples, viz.: பிருதிவிலிங்கம், earth-linga, worshipped at Canjeevara-அப்புலிங்கம், water-linga, worshipped at Tiruvanaicka--தேயுலிங்கம், fire linga, worshipped at Tiruvannamalay--வாயுலிங்கம், air-linga, worshipped at Tirukalatti-ஆகாயலிங்கம், ether-linga, worshipped at Sethumbaram. These are properly of a metaphysical or mystical character and belong to the arcana of Hinduism. The above designations are for popular use and are given from their physiological connection with the five bodies or casements of the soul, whose natural bases are the elements. earth, water, fire, air and ether, respectively. Among the initiated, the following are the terms employed, viz.: 1. ஸ்திரீலிங் கம், Streelinga--this is properly the organ entire--male and female with its functions; it is a figure (உரூபம்) the only one of the five to which form is ascribed. There is but one image, the representation of this. The சரிதை course of worship, i. e. the popular puranic course belongs to this. 2. புல்லிங்கம், this is defined to be உணர்வு; the course here is that of instruction and perception as to the action of the instrument, &c. To this belongs the கிரியை course of worship, the second great stage. 3. நபுஞ் சகலிங்கம், this is the stage of darkness, of neutrality, called the stage of darkness and doubt, and, as a course of worship, is included in the succeeding one. 4. பரமலிங் கம், this comes under the dominion of மயேச் சுரன், the concealer, and is called மறைப்பு; the course here is that of யோகம், the third great stage. 5. மகாலிங்கம், this is தெளிவு, the course of ஞானம், the last stage which exempts from births, and secures absorption in the supreme essence. Wils. p. 72. LINGA. இலிங்ககோளம், s. Glans penis. (Anat.) இலிங்கங்கட்டி--இலிங்கதாரி, s. One who wears the linga. இலிங்கசங்கமம், s. Symbols of the sexes united--probably a personification of the active energy of the deity and of matter, represented in metal. &c., or formed in the mind as objects of contemplation and worship. இலிங்கசூலை, s. A kind of venereal disease. இலிங்கபுடோல், s. The ஐவிரலி, creeper, Bryonia, L. இலிங்கபுராணம், s. One of the eighteen Puranas, புராணம்பதினெட்டிலொ ன்று. இலிங்கப்புற்று, s. A kind of venereal disease. இலிங்கரோகம், s. The venereal disease, ஆண்குறியில்வருமோர்புண். இலிங்கர்--இலிங்கிகள், s. Ascetics, Rishis who wear the Linga, சைவ தவப்பாலோர். இலிங்கி, s. An ascetic. 2. A worshipper of Siva, under the phallic emblem. 3. A hypocrite, a pretended devotee. ஸ்படிகலிங்கம், s. A linga made of quartz. பாணலிங்கம், s. A stone in the form of a linga--found in the river Nurbudda. பிரசாதலிங்கம், s. What is dedicated to Siva. பார்த்திபலிங்கம், s. Any thing assumed as an emblem of linga, and worshipped. சுயம்புலிங்கம், s. A linga supposed to be self-existent. சங்கமலிங்கம், s. A man of the Changama sect. குருலிங்கம், s. uṇr (p. 59) --உணரு, கிறேன், உணர்ந்தே ன், வேன், உணர, v. a. To be conscious, to feel mentally, to perceive, understand, comprehend, arrive at, or possess full and perfect knowledge, அறிய. 2. To discern, distinguish, பகுத்தறிய. 3. To think, reflect or consider, meditate, contemplate, நினைக்க. 4. To feel, perceive by the touch, பரிசித்தறிய. 5. To learn, acquire knowledge, கற்றறிய. 6. To become reconciled-as man and wife, be reunited after a love quarrel, ஊடறீர. 7. To become free from delusion, doubt, error, &c.--as in waking from sleep; recovering from languor; acquiring spiritual perception, &c., தெளிய. A man past feeling, one devoid of sensibility. உணர்த்தியுள்ளவன், s. A man of sensibility, one who is affected by the wants of others. உணர்வு, v. noun. Feeling, consciousness, intuition, perception, understanding, knowledge by means of the senses, உணர்கை. 2. Clear discernment, intellect, reason, தெளிவு. 3. Cessation from sleep, love quarrels, &c., ஊடலுந் துயிலுநீங்கல். 4. Acquiring of knowledge, learning, experience, acquaintance with science, &c., கற்றுணர்கை. 5. A sense, புலன். 6. Separation, நீங்கல். உணரவுணருமுணர்வுடையாரைப்புணரப்புணருமா மின்பம். To be united in friendship with the prudent who think of what they ought to think is productive of the highest felicity. A connective particle variously used, ஓரிடைச்சொல். 1. எதிர்மறையும்மை, the use of உம் with an affirmative, or negative expressing probability, possibility, &c., and implying the possibility, &c., of the contrary--as, சாத்தன்வருதற்குமுரியன், Sattan may perhaps come; அவன்வரவுங்கூடும், It is possible that he may come. 2. சிறப்பும்மை, the உம் of speciality, including உயர்வுசிறப் பும்மை, or superiority and இழிவுசிறப்பும்மை, or inferiority--as, ஞானிகளுமறியார்கள்சித்திரநதிமூல ம், Even the sages are unacquainted with the source of the சித்திரம் river; இவ்வூர்ப்பூனை யும்புலாறின்னாது, Even the cats of this place will not eat flesh (so sacred is it, so vile is the practice); பார்ப்பானுங்கள்ளுண்டான், Even a Brahman has been drinking toddy; இவனைநாயுந்தேடாது, Even a dog will not regard him. 3. ஐயவும்மை, the உம் in doubt, uncertainty, indecision, equivocal forms, probability, possibility--as, அவர்பத்தாயினுந் தருவார்பதினைந்தாயினுந்தருவார், Perhaps he may give ten or he may give fifteen; மழை பெய்தாலும்பெய்யும், It may perhaps rain; பத் தானுமெட்டானுங்கொடு, Give ten, or eight, ten would be preferred, but eight may do; வரினும்வருவான், It is probable that he may come. The உம் is often suppressed. 4. எச்சவும்மை, இறந்ததுதழீஇயவெச்சவும்மை, எதிரதுதழீ இயவெச்சவும்மை, the use of உம் implying another person, thing, or event, understood, and meaning likewise, too, even--as, அவனும் வந்தான், He also is come (implying that another is come or expected); நாம்பாடவும் வேண்டும், We must sing also (as well as dance, &c.); கேட்டும்படிக்கவேண்டும், By inquiry also we must learn (as well as by other means). 5. முற்றும்பை, indicating the whole of a number or series, universality, totality--as, ஒருவருக்குமையமில்லை, None can doubt; எங்குமில்லை, no where; இருகண்ணுஞ் சிவந்தன, both eyes reddened; எவ்விடமும், every where; இரண்டையுங்கொண்டுவா, Bring them both; எல்லாரும், எவரும், ஆரும்வந்தார், all, whoever, &c. came; மிகுந்தநாலுபணத்தை யுந்தா, Give me the remaining four fanams; மூவரும், all the three persons. 6. எண்ணும் மை, a numeral connective, corresponding with, and commonly repeated with each word of the series; நீயுமவனும்வந்தீர்கள், You and he came. The particle is sometimes joined to the last only--as, சாத்தன், கொற்றன், பூதனும் வந்தார்கள், Sattan, Kottan and Poodan came. Sometimes it is wholly omitted, and a pronoun including the series used instead--as, சாத்தன்கொற்றன்இவர்கள்வந்தார்கள். Sometimes the last noun in the series is used in the plural--as, சாத்தகோற்றவர்வந்தார்கள். 7. தெரிநிலையும்மை, the உம் of ascertainment, clear perception, or decision, used of three or more things concerning which doubt has been entertained, but which is now cleared up--as, ஆணுமன்றுபெண்ணுமன்று, It is neither male nor female (but in hermaphrodite); அவருண்பதுசோறுமல்ல, பணிகாரமுமல் ல, சாகமூலபலாதிகள், His food is neither rice nor cakes, but leaves, roots and fruits, &c. 8. ஆக்கவும்மை, உம் expressive of a change of state--as, பாலுமாயிற்று, This milk became medicine also; வலியனுமாயினான், He has become even a strong man. The above eight are given in நன்னூல். 9. உம் joined to an infinitive implies விரைவு, the immediate occurrence of the event--as, துரைகட்டளையிடவுங்காரியஞ்செய்துமுடிந்தது, As soon as the magistrate gave the order, the thing was done; அவர்சொல்லவுமுலகங்களுண் டாம், As soon as he speaks worlds appear. The உம் is often omitted, but then it is less expressive--as, நானிதைச்செய்யெனச்செய்கிறான், I say this and he does it. 1. உம் added to a verbal noun in poetry, sometimes gives it a gerund-like succession of the event--as, காண்டலுமிதுவேசொல்வான், Seeing him he spoke thus; வருதலுந்தழுவிக் கொண்டான், As soon as he came he embraced. 11. உம் is associated to the social ablative with the same meaning--as, கடுங்கணைதொடுத்தலோடும், As soon as the swift arrows were shot. 12. உம் added to the infinitive serves for optative, especially in epistolary usage but not in good style--as, தாங்கள்மறுமொழியனுப்பவும், May you please to send an answer; இப்படிச்செய்யவும், May you do so, I wish you to do so. 13. உம் added to the following forms of a verb, செய்து, செய்யின், செய்தால், has the force of though, although--as, அவனறிந்தும்வரவில்லை. Though he knew, he did not come; சொல்லி னும் or சொன்னாலும்அவன்கேளான், Though you may tell him he will not listen. 14. உம் added to இல் or இன் forms of the fifth case gives the force of the comparative degree --as, கந்தனினும்வலியனே, He is even stronger than Skanda. 15. A token of reproof, menace, anger, &c., also of attention, assent, doubt, non-compliance, &c., (see ஊம்)--as, உம்மெனத்தெழித்துரப்ப, He reproved his rashness by uttering the menacing sound உம் (ஸ்காந்தம்); கதைசொல்லுகி றேன்உம்கொட்டிக்கேள், I am going to tell you a story, show that you listen by saying உம்; உம்மெனுமார்பைத்தட்டும், The guilt of Brahmanicide manifested in a phantom threatened by saying உம் and striking on its breast (திருவிளையாடல்). 16. A termination of the imperative plural, முன்னிலைப்பன்மைவி குதி-- as, நீவிர்சொல்லும், say ye. It is often used honorifically in imperative singular --as, கடவுளேநீரிரங்கும், God be merciful. 17. A termination of verbs third pers. pres. or fut. tense sing. number, also of neut. plurals--as அவன்செய்யும், He does or will do it; சிங்கங்கள்முழங்கும், The lions roar, or will roar, செய்யுமென்முற்றுவிகுதி. 18. A modification of the pronoun நீர் when it is declined in the different cases--as, உம்மை, உம் மால், &c. 19. The termination of the future relative participle, எதிர்காலப்பெயரெச்ச விகுதி--as, உலகாளும்அரசர், Kings who govern the world. 2)

urōcm (p. 65) s. A high sense of honor, keen sensibility, quick perception of an indignity, delicacy, jealousy, மானம். (c.) ஆசைக்குரோசமில்லை. Lust (or intense desire) knows no shame. உரோசங்கெட்டவன், s. A man destitute of spirit, honor, a dastard, a poltroon, மானவீனன். உரோசநாகரீகமில்லாதவன், s. One without honor or credit. உரோசப்பட, inf. To feel a sense of honor, delicacy. உரோசப்படுத்த, inf. To hurt another's feelings, to excite shame. உரோசிக்க, inf. To exhibit feelings of shame, honor, sensibility, delicacy, நாண. 2. To be spirited, sensitive to an indignity, சுவரணைகொள்ள. 71)

aiym (p. 80) s. Doubt, hesitation, uncertainty, indecision, suspense, scepticism, terms or probability, possibility, and any thing short of positive certainty are included, சந்தேகம். 2. (p.) Alms, charity, பிச்சை. 3. A beggar's vessel or shell, இரப்போர்கலம். 4. Phlegm--one of the humors of the body, சிலேட்டுமம். 5. Doubt, surprise, &c.--as one of the துறை, அகப்பொருட்டுறையினொன்று-as, போதோவிசும்போபுனலோபணிகளது பதியோ யா தோவறிகுவதேதுமரிது, whether the place the damsel occupies is a lotus flower, the world of the gods, water, or the world of serpents, it is difficult to determine. ஐயம்புகினுஞ் செய்வினைசெய். Though you go abegging, perform your duties. (ஔ வை.) ஐயகணசூலை, s. An arthritic disease arising from phlegm and heat, ஆறுசூலையிலொன்று. ஐயக்காட்சி, s. An object of subject exciting doubt, indistinct perception, problematical or hypothetical terms, அதுவோவிதுவோவெனக்காண்கை. (See காட்சி.) 2. Doubt, சந்தேகம். ஐயக்காரன், s. A beggar, a mendicant, பிச்சைக்காரன். ஐயக்கிளவி, s. Terms or particles of doubt or uncertainty, commonly found in interrogative expressions, ஐய மொழி--such as ஆ, ஏ, ஓ, கொல், யா, &c. ஐயநாடி, s. One of the three states of the pulse--that in which the phlegmatic humor is supposed to be prevalent in the system, சிலேட்டுமநாடி. See நாடி. ஐயப்பட, inf. To doubt, hesitate. ஐயப்படாமை, neg. v. noun. Freedom from doubt and fear, certainty, undauntedness, சந்தேகங்கொள்ளாமை. 2. One of the eight அறத்துறுப்பு. See உறுப்பு. ஐயப்பாடு, s. Doubt, uncertainty, indecision, apprehension, suspense, சந் தேகம். ஐயமறுக்க, inf. One of the five kinds of questions which are proposed to remove doubt from the mind, சந்தேக நிவர்த்திசெய்ய. ஐயமிட, inf. To give alms, பிச் சையிட. ஐயமிட்டுண். Give alms before you eat. ஐயமுற, inf. To doubt, சந்தேகம டைய. ஐயமேலிட, inf. To be in a great doubt, சந்தேகமதிகரிக்க. 2. To have the rattles in the throat--as a dying person, சிலேட்டுமமேலிட. ஐயவணி, s. A figure in rhetoric-as where doubt is entertained as to whether a thing which bears analogy to another is identical with or distinct from it--as தாதளவிவண்டுதடுமாறுந்தாமரைகொ ல் மாதர்விழியுலவும் வாண்முகங்கொல். I doubt whether it is the face of a woman or a lotus flower, since it resembles so much the latter. ஐயவதிசயம், s. A figure in rhetoric, ஓரலங்காரம். ஐயவிலக்கு, s. A figure in rhetoric, ஓரலங்காரம். ஐயவும்மை, s. A particle showing uncertainty, doubt. See உம். ஐயவுவமை, s. A figure in rhetoric, ஓரலங்காரம். ஐயுற, inf. To doubt, hesitate, to be undecided, to suspect, to be in suspense, சந்தேகமடைய. சக்கரஞ்சுற்றுகின்றமைகண்டையுற்று. Wondering at the sight of the whirling discus. பக்கத்தார்யாரையுமையுறுதல். Suspecting all neighbors. (நீதிநெறி.) ஐயுறல்--ஐயுறவு, v. noun. Doubting, apprehension, suspicion, சந்தேகம். ஐயுறுத்த, inf. To cause or excite doubt, to induce apprehension, ஐயமுறுத்த. 22)

oṉṟu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஒன்றினேன், வேன், ஒன்ற. v. n. To unite, coalesce, knit or grow together--as broken parts, two trees, &c.; to become one, to join, combine, இணைய. 2. To be engaged, be intent, &c. on an object, ஒன்றுபட. 3. To agree, suit, be agreeable, பொருந்த. 4. To copulate, புணர. ஒன்றவில்லை. It is not convenient. 2. They are not fit. 3. (They) (the things or parts) are not united, not joined well, &c. தேகத்தொன்றுநோய். Disease which befalls the body. (வைராக்கிய.) ஊழொன்றியிருப்பின். If destiny favor-ஒன்றப்பார்க்க, inf. To unite severed parts--as a magician by looking at them, lit. to look them into one, பொ ருந்தப்பார்க்க. 2. To join things to see if they fit or agree--as machinery, இசைக்க. ஒன்றாதவஞ்சித்தளை, s. See தளை. ஒன்றார்--ஒன்னாதார்--ஒன்னார், s. Foes, unfriendly persons. (p.) ஒன்றுகுடி, s. A family or person living in another's house, garden, &c. See ஒட்டுக்குடி and ஒதுக்குக்குடி. ஒன்றுகூட்டு, s. Concord, harmony, living on terms of friendship, ஒரு கூட்டு. ஒன்றுகூட்டாயிருக்க, inf. To be closely united, be in harmony, &c. ஒன்றுநர், s. Friends, relations, ந ண்பர். (p.) ஓ. The eleventh vowel, ஓகாரம். 2. A particle, இடைச்சொல். It has various uses; in நன்னூல், eight different meanings are given to it. (a) ஒழியிசை, a mark of ellipsis denoting the omission of a counter-part to what is expressed--as கொள லோகொண்டான், true he has obtained his object (but he will not prosper by it). (b) வினா, interrogatives--as சாத்தனோவந்தான், is it Sattan that came? (c) சிறப்பு, speciality, particularity, &c., an interjection of surprise. This is two-fold. 1. உயர்வுசிறப் பு, relating to objects of superiority, preeminence, &c.--as ஓஒ பெரியன், heigh day! he is an illustrious person. 2. இழிவுசிறப்பு, relating to objects of inferiority, baseness, &c.--as ஓஒ கொடியன், Oh! he is a cruel wretch. (d) எதிர்மறை, negation--as யானோ செய்வேன், will I do it? implying I will not. (e) தெரிநிலை, ascertainment, clear perception, appeal to the hearer, &c.-as ஆணோஅதுவுமன்றுபெண்ணோஅதுவுமன்று, it is neither male nor female. (f) கழிவு, bereavement, an interjection of pity--as ஓஒ தமக் கோருறுதியுணராரோ, alas, alas, they have found no way of salvation. (g) அசைநிலை, expletive--as காணியவம்மினோ, come let us see. (h) பிரிநிலை, distinguishing, marking-as அவனோகொண்டான், it was he who bought it. In addition to these it also serves to express doubt--as நீனிறமுகிலோபசியசைவல மோநெடுந்திரைகொழித்ததெள்ளறலோ, is the hair of the damsel analogous to the blue clouds, to the green moss, or the black sand on the shore drifted by the billows (நைட); அதென்னவோதெரியாது, What that can be I know not.

kāṭci (p. 103) s. Sight, view, பார்்வை. 2. An object of sight, visible appearance, தோற் றம். 3. The manifestation of a deity or the sight of a great personage, தரிசனம். 4. (p.) [in logic.] Perception, evidence of the senses, பிரத்தியட்சப்பிரமாணம். 5. Knowledge, intelligence, ascertainment, அறிவு. 6. [in erotics.] One of the ten அவத்்தை, the first view which a bridegroom has of his bride, விரகாவஸ்தைக்காட்சி. 7. (c.) Anomaly, a strange event, நூதனக்காட்சி.--Note. In the agama logic, seven species of perception are given, viz.: 1. ஐயக்காட்சி, Indistinct apprehension, doubt, uncertainty, hesitation. 2. திரிபுக்காட்சி, misapprehension, misconception, optical or mental illusion. 3. விகற் பக்காட்சி, discrimination or knowledge to distinguish things one from another in five particulars, viz.: in name, kind, quality, action, and substance. or matter. 4. பொ றிவாயிற்காட்சி, perception of the sences, with the aid of the mental faculties. 5. மனக் காட்சி, or மானதக்காட்சி, ideas formed in the mind of things perceived by the senses. 6. அனுபவக்காட்சி, perception by actual experience of the exercise of the affecions towards objects perceived. 7. யோகக்காட்சி, the spiritual perception of the Yoga, or knowledge of events past, present or future, by abstract devotion--Note. 2d. Each of the above has two divisions, one, புறம்-abroad, relating to external or secular affairs; the other, அகம்-- at home, to religious affairs. கண்ணுக்குக்காட்சிகடவுளுக்குங்காட்சி. What is pleasing to the sight is pleasing to the deity--referring to the ornaments of the temple, rich offerings, &c. கண்ணுள்ளபோதே காட்சி. Gratify your sight while you can. காட்சிகொடுக்க, inf. To manifest himself--as a deity. காட்சிப்பிரமாணம், s. [in logic.] One of the eight modes of ascertaining truth. See பிரத்தியட்சப்பிரமாணம். காட்சிப்பொருள், s. Things seen, objects of sight or sense--as distinguished from கருத்துப்பொருள். or mental objects. காட்சிமறைத்தல், v. noun. Hinderance in seeing or observing any thing. See அஷ்டகுற்றம். காட்சியர்-காட்சியவர்--காட்சியார், s. The wise, அறிஞர். காட்சியாக, inf. To appear in a vision. காட்சியுணர்வு, s. The sense of sight, காட்சியறிவு. காணாக்காட்சி, s. An extraordinary sight, a wonderful occurrence. 2. An ill omen. திருக்காட்சி, s. A divine meditation. காரணக்காட்சி, s. A great sight or event which may be the cause of future effects. 81) *

kāṇ (p. 103) கிறேன், கண்டேன், பேன், காண, v. a. To see, perceive, behold, view, descry, பார்க்க. 2. To gain sight of a deity, or a great person, the new moon. &c., மங் கலமாகக்காண. 3. To find, meet with, ascertain, gain the knowledge of, be aware of, recognize, தெரிய. 4. To experience, know, feel, உணர. 5. To discover, invent, originate, கண்டறிய. 6. To think, consider, invistigate, ஆராய. 7. To obtain, get, secure, have, derive, பெற. 8. To know the truth, perceive the deity in the vedas and other sacred writings, உண்மையறிய. 9. (p.) To worship, venerate, reverence, make obeisance, வணங்க. 1. To cause, do, effect, செய்ய. 11. To understand fully or perfectly, to have clear perceptions, தெளிய. 12. To preceive by any of the senses, see, hear, feel, &c., பொறியாலறிய. 13. v. n. To seem, prove, to be, to be found, to appear, தோன்ற. 14. To be sufficient, to amount to--as profit, &c., நிரம்ப. 15. To appear, become visible, evident, &c., வெளிப் பட. 16. To accrue, result--as profit, &c., பலன்பட. 17. (p.) To exist, subsist--as a quality, &c., உண்டாக. கண்டதுகாணப்பறைத்தலைவெட்டு. Strike the bushet as it comes, don't be exact. கண்டதைக்கண்டுகொள்ளும். Be content with what you get as profit, produce, &c. கண்டொன்றுகாணாமையொன்று. Produce in kind --as பத்துமரக்கால்விதைக்கநூறுமரக்கால்கண்டுமுத லாகும், ten maracals of seed will yield one-hundred maracals. கண்டுமுதல்பண்ண, inf. To collect revenue personally. கண்டெடுக்க, inf. To pick up, find and pick up. கைகண்டது, s. That which was experienced, ascertained by practice, tested, proved--as கைகண்டமருந்து, கைகண் டகாரியம், கைகண்டதுணை. காணப்பட, inf. To appear, to be perceived, seen. காணப்படாத, rel. part. Invisible. காணப்படாதது, appel. noun. That which is invisible. காணப்பட்டது, appel. n. That which is visible. காணப்போக, inf. To visit one. காணக்கடி, s. An unseen bite, sting, &c., the bite, &c., of a reptile, in the dark, அறியாவிஷக்கடி. காணாக்கிரகம்--காணாக்கோள் s. Rare phenomena in nature, unseen planets, real, or imaginary, &c., கரந்துறை கோள். காணாத்தலம்--காணாஸ்தலம் s. The privities, genitals, உபத்தம். காணாதேபோக--காணாமற்போக. inf. To be lost. காணாமற்றிருடினவன், appel. n. One who has taken a thing slyly, clandestinely. காணாமை, s. Invisibility. காணார், appel. n. Enemies--those who will not bow, பகைவர். செய்கைகாண, inf. To be newly cultivated, or cultivated anew, as land. உண்மையைக்காண, inf. To discover, perceive, or understand the truth, especially divine truth. ஈரங்காண, inf. To become moist --as a floor, land, &c. ஈரங்கண்டால்முளைக்கும். If it feel the moisture, the seed will sprout. ஈரங்கண்டாற்கால்வைக்கக்கூடாது. If the ground becomes wet, one cannot walk well. காணும், (the future of காண் in the third pers. neuter.) This form, in colloquial use, is equivalent to sir. 2. In poetry, it is often expletive. போங்காணும். Go, sir. தரியாதுகாணுந்தனம். Wealth is unstable. (நல்வழி.) அப்படியல்லகாணும். It is not so. காண், An expletive of the second person, ஓரிடைச்சொல். காண்டக்க, rel. part. Beautiful, graceful, as காணத்தக்க. காணல்--காண்டல் v. noun. Seeing, காணுகை. 2. Appearance, தோற்றம். 3. Reverence, வணங்கல். 4. The act of abtaining, பெறுதல். காண்பிக்க, inf. To cause to be, to convince, காட்ட. 2. To show, exhibit, adduce, display, represent, தெரிவிக்க. 3. To point, direct, சுட்டிக்காட்ட. காண்பித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To chide, reprimand, blame, reprove. காண்பித்தல், v. noun. Showing, காட்டல்.

kāriym (p. 104) s. Affair, thing, business, concern, matter, subject, occurrence, circumstance, incident, topic, event, transaction, கருமம். 2. An action, operation, a deed, process, செய்கை. 3.
