kōṭai (p. 149) s. The hot season, வேனிற் காலம். 2. The wind of the hot season, the land-wind in general, காற்று. 4. Sunshine, வெயில். 5. The செங்காந்தள். plant. 6. The வெண்காந்தள் plant. நச்சு
nccu (p. 267) s. Desire, lust, hankering, craving, &c., ஆசை. (சது.) 2. Babble, தொனுப்பு. [Tel. usage.] 3. adj. Little, small, சிறிய. 4. [oblique of நஞ்சு, as an adjec.] Poisonous. venomous, baneful. நச்சுக்கண், s. A poisonous eye, that blights whatever it looks upon. நச்சுக்கத்தி, s. A poisoned knife. 2. (fig.) A very wicked person, கெட்டவன். நச்சுக்காற்று, s. An unhealthy wind. See காற்று. நச்சுக்குழல், s. [vul.] A long tube for shooting birds with clay pellets, புட்ப டுக்குங்குழல். 2. A telescope, துரதிஷ்டிக்க ண்ணாடி. நச்சுக்கொடி, s. The after-birth, secundines, as நஞ்சுக்கொடி.(c.) நச்சுக்கொடிச்சுண்ணம், s. A medical powder made of the after-birth, administered in cholera, விஷபேதிச்சூரணம். நச்சுச்சொல், s. Blighting words, தீச் சொல். 2. Malicious, envious or sarcastic language, கடுஞ்சொல். 3. A malign word in poetic composition supposed to ber injurious to the hero, வசைச்சொல். நச்சுத்தானம், s. [in erotics.] Parts of the female body which if touched by men on certain days of the moon, are supposed to produce disgust, அமுதநி லைக்கேழாமிடம். நச்சுநீர், s. Poisonous water, விஷநீர். நச்சுப்படைக்கலம், s. Poisoned weapons. (p.) நச்சுப்பல், s. The poisonous fang of a snake. (c.) நச்சுப்பல்லி, s. A spotted kind of wall-lizard, whose excrement is used in witcheraft. 2. The chirp of a lizard from a direction which prognosticates evil, and causes one leaving home to turn back. 3. A woman whose words are malignant. நச்சுப்பல்லிபோலேதடுக்கிறான். He stops one like an ominous lizard. நச்சுப்பார்வை, s. Bewitching, amorous, libidinous looks, ogling, மோகப்பார்வை. (p.) 2. A blighting, ominous look, கண் ணேறு. 3. An angry, maliciouse appearance, கோபப்பார்வை. நச்சுப்பால், s. The poisonous milky juice of the spurge-class of shrubs. கள்ளிப்பால். 2. First thick milk of a woman or beast, சீம்பால். 3. Milk that does not agree with the young, இணங்கா தபால். நச்சுப்புகை, s. Poisonous smoke or fumigation from burning poisonous reptiles or vegetables. நச்சுப்பூடு, s. A poisonous herb. நச்சுப்பொடி, s. A poisonous powder, விஷத்தூள். 2. A small-fish, ஓர்சிறுமீன். நச்சுப்பொய்கை, s. Poisonous water of a tank. (p.) நச்சுமரம், s. A poisonous tree, எட்டி, Strychnos, nus-vomica, L. நச்சுமரமாயினும்நட்டவன்வெட்டுவானோ..... The mouth of one whose words are blighting, விஷவாக்கு. நச்சுவிறகு, s. Poisonous fuel, used in witchcraft, &c. நச்செண்ணெய், s. A kind of poisonous oil, for curing sores, விஷதைலம். நச்செலி, s. A kind of rat whose bite is poisonous, sometimes fatal. (c.) நச்செழுத்து, s. Letters which may be so placed, in poetic composition, as to be considered ominous; as in the first word of the poem, or other important places, they are, ய, ர, ள, யா, யோ, ரா, லா, லோ, also உயிரளபெடை, ஒற்றளபெடை, மகரக்கு றுக்கம், and ஆய்தக்குறுக்கம். 25)
நஞ்சு
nñcu (p. 267) s. Poison, venom, விஷம். (சது.) (c.) 2. [adjectively in combin.] Malignant, baneful, pernicious, fatal, தீமை. 3. (fig.) The after-birth, as நஞ்சுக்கொடி. நஞ்சுடனேஒருநாளும்பழகவேண்டாம். Never keep company with a mallignant person. அவன்படுநஞ்சு. He is rank person. நல்லுறவில்நஞ்சுகலக்க. To sow discord among friends. நஞ்சன், s. A malignant person. நஞ்சுகக்க, inf. To eject or infuse poison, as a snake, &c.,விஷம்கக்க. நஞ்சுகரந்த அமுதம், s. Something good covering what is bad. 2. (fig.) One with pleasant words, but a malevolent heart. நஞ்சுகரையல். v. noun. Dissolving of the secundiness without parturition, which is fatal to the mother. நஞ்சறுப்பான், s. A medicinal creeper. See நச்சறுப்பான். நஞ்சிட, inf. To make of infuse poison into food, &c. 2. To poison a person or animal. 3. To imbue a weapon with poison. 4. To do evil to one secretly. நஞ்சிட்டுக்கொல்ல, inf. To kill one by giving him any mixture of poison. நஞ்சுகலந்தஅமுதம், s. [sometimes. நஞ் சுபொதிந்தஅமுதம்.] Nectar impregnated with poison; i. e. fair professions with malicious designs. நஞ்சுகழலல், v. noun. Exuding as the poison of a snake from its fangs. நஞ்சுக்கொடி, s. The cord of the secundines. 2. After-birth, secundines. (c.) நச்சுக்கொடியும், s. The funicle and secundines. நஞ்சுடைமை, s. Having poison. (மூது ரை.) நஞ்சுண்டோன்--நஞ்சுண்ணி, appel. n. Siva, as swallowing poison. See ஆல கண்டன். நஞ்சுதின்ன, inf. To take poison. நஞ்சுதின்றுசாக, inf. To die by poisoning one's self. (c.) நஞ்சுபற்றுதல், v. noun. The taking effect of poison in the body; attack of poison on the brain, விஷமேறுதல். 2. The producing of ill effects by retention of the after-birth. நஞ்சுமுறிக்க, inf. As நஞ்செடுக்க. நஞ்சுமுறிச்சான், appel. n. [vul.] A நஞ்சறுப்பான். நஞ்சுவிழுதல், v. noun. The coming away of the after-birth. (c.) நஞ்சுவைக்க, inf. To insert poison, for killing, &c., as நஞ்சிட. நஞ்சூட்ட, inf. To imbue with poison as a weapon. நஞ்செடுக்க, inf. To counteract poison, neutralize its effects. 31)
விஷம்
viṣam (p. 391) --விடம், s. Poison, நஞ்சு. 2. Any thing hurtful or destructive. W. p. 79. VISHA. அநப்பியாசேவிஷம்சாஸ்திரம். Want to practice is poison to all learning. விஷந்தீண்டிச்செத்தான். Malignant humors causing swelling, &c. விஷநீரேற்றம், s. The dropsy. விஷந்திரும்பல், v. noun. The dispelling of poison. விஷந்தீண்டல், s. Being bitten by a venomous snake. See தீண்டு. விஷபாகம், s. A sudden swelling of the body. விஷபேதி, s. Virulent diarrh&oe;a, choleramorbus. விஷப்பனி, s. Mildew, dew pernicious to health. விஷமிறக்க, inf. To remove poison. விஷமிறங்குதல், v. noun. The action of animal poison being subdued. விஷமுட்டி, s. A poisonous tree, Strychnos, எட்டிமரம். விஷமூங்கில், s. A medicinal shrub, Crinum Asiaticum. விஷமேறுதல், v. noun. Diffusing poison, through the system. விஷமேற்ற, inf. To cause reduced animal poison to spread again through the system by magic. 2. (fig.) To provoke one to fury, கடுங்கோபமூட்ட. விஷவாக்கு, s.
