akkiṉi (p. 4) s. Fire, தீ. 2. The god of fire and regent of the south-east, அக்கி னிபகவான். (See திக்குபாலகர்.) 3. (M. Dic.) The plant செங்கொடிவேலி. There are reckoned different kinds of அக்கினி, (a.) ஆயுரு வேதாக்கினி, of three kinds, for preparing medicines, as கமலாக்கினி, காடாக்கினி, தீபாக் கினி, which see. (b) Three other kinds called வேதாக்கினி for sacrificial purposes, as, காருகபத்தியம், தக்கணாக்கினியம், ஆகவனீயம். See தீ. (c.) The fire which will consume the world, காலாக்கினி. Wils. p. 6. A decayed cuttle-fish bone, Os sepi&ae;, கட னுரை. அக்கினிகலை, s. Breath coming from the nostrils, in சரசாத்திரம். அக்கினிகோத்திரம், s. One of the twenty-one யாகம். 2. One of the princely races. அக்கினிக்கட்டு, s. Restraining the power of fire by magic. அக்கினிக்கண்ணன், s. A fiery man, one having a terrible countenance. அக்கினிசன்மன், s. One born of fire, Skanda. See அக்கினிபூ. அக்கினிசாந்தி, s. [in astrology.] Offerings to fire; this is done with ghee, plantains, cakes, &c., after repeating an incantation one hundred and eight times to avert evil from அக்கினிதேவன். These offerings are made particularly at the time of marriage and of doing penance. அக்கினிசாலம், s. Tricks or artifices made by the agency of fire. அக்கினிச்சிலம், s. A plant, Gloriosa superba, L., கார்த்திகைக்கிழங்கு. அக்கினிச்சேர்வை, s. [prov.] A blister-plaster. அக்கினிட்டோமம்--அக்கினிஷ் டோமம், s. One of the twenty-one யாகம். அக்கினித்தம்பம்--அக்கினிஸ்தம்பம், s. A pillar of fire. 2. Stopping the power of fire by magic. 3. One of the sixty-four கலைஞானம். அக்கினித்தம்பன், s. Siva as a column of fire. See தம்பம். அக்கினித்திரயம், s. The aggregate of the three fires maintained by the Brahmin householder, the Garhapatya, காருகபத்தியம், Dakshanagniyam, தட்சணாக் கினியம், and Ahavaneya, ஆகவனியம். See தீ. அக்கினித்திராவகம், s. Fire-water --such as nitric acid, &c. அக்கினிநாள்--அக்கினிநட்சத்திரம், s. [astrol.] An inauspicious nakshatra or day. There are three in a year, viz., when the sun is in the last quarter of the second nakshatra, பரணி, when in the 3d nakshatra, கார்த்திகை, and when in the 1st quarter of the 4th nakshatra, உரோகணி. அக்கினிபஞ்சகம், s. Danger of fire as an astrological result of the aggregate of five items. அக்கினிபயம், s. [in calendars.] Danger or fear of fire. அக்கினிப்பிரவேசம், s. Entering into or passing through fire, as a religious act. அக்கினிப்பிழம்பு, s. A body or flame of fire. அக்கினிப்பிளப்பு, s. A volcano, volcanic eruption. அக்கினிமண்டலம், s. The seat of fire in the system--the abdomen. அக்கினிமந்தம், s. Indigestion. அக்கினிமலை, s. A volcanic mountain. அக்கினிமிதிக்க, inf. To tread on fire, one of the thirty-two kinds of selftorture. அக்கினிமூலை, s. The south-east region. அக்கினியாதேயம், s. One of the twenty-one யாகம், sacrifices. அக்கினியாஸ்திரம், s. [in prosody.] Repetition of a word or words with different meanings in the beginning of a line, or the repetition of a line in a verse with different meanings, சித்திரக்கவியி லொன்று, as, ஆகங்கண்டகராலற்றவாடவர், ஆகங் கண்டகராலற்றவன்பினர். அடிமடி, s. A secret place in the waistcloth, உள்மடி. அடிமடை, s. The commencement of a water channel, முதல்மடை. அடிமண், s. The earth adhering to one's feet, taken for enchantments against him (வசியம்) or for witchcraft, காலிலொட்டியமண். அடிமயக்கு, s. Transposing the lines of a verse without destroying the sense, அடிமாற்றுகை. 2. A verse so formed, ஓர்பா, as, அங்கண்மதியமரவின்வாய்ப்பட்டென்ப, பூசல்வாயாப்புலம்புமனைகலங்கி. அடிமறிமண்டிலவாசிரியப்பா, s. One of the four kinds of ஆசிரியம், the lines of which are interchangeable at pleasure, the meaning remaining the same, ஓர்வகையாசிரியப்பா. அடிமறிமாற்றுப்பொருள்கோள், s. Construction in which the lines of a stanza are interchangeable, the harmony and meaning remaining the same, or the harmony only slightly affected. See பொருள்கோள், as, சுரையாழவம்மிமிதப்பவரையனை ய, யானைக்குநீத்துமுயற்குநிலையென்ப கானகநாடன் சுனை. அடிமுகனை, s. [vul.] Beginning-as of a story, &c. அடிமுடி, s. Order, regularity, வர லாறு. 2. From beginning to end, ஆதியந் தம். 3. Upside down, கீழ்மேல். 4. Head and foot, காலுந்தலையும். அடிமுரண்டொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which the first word of a line has a meaning opposite to that of the next, செய்யுட்டொடை யிலொன்று, as, இருள்பரந்தன்னமாநீர்மருங்கின், நிலவுகுவித்தன்னவெண்மணலொருசிறை, where darkness and moonlight are opposite. அடிமோனைத்தொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhyme in which each line begins with the same letter, ஓர் வகை மோனைத்தொடை. அடியடியாக, adv. [prov.] In succession, as the descent of title, &c., தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக. அடியந்தாதி, s. A repetition in verse. See அந்தாதி. அடியளபெடை, s. Prolonging the sounds of long vowels at the beginning of every line, தொடைவிகற்பத்தொன்று. அடியறுக்கி, s. A flat piece of wood by which the potter marks his work and cuts it from the wheel below, மட்கலமறுக்குங்கருவி. அடியனாதி, s. Time immemorial, antiquity, தொன்றுதொட்டுள்ளகாலம். அடியார், s. [sing. அடியான்--அடி யாள்.] Slaves, servants as applied to devotees in reference to their deity, and used by persons of themselves in addressing superiors, to show respect, obedience or submission, தொண்டர். அடியிட, inf. To set on foot, commence an undertaking, a law suit, &c., தொடங்க. 2. To make a beginning in braiding--as the bottom of a basket, the first end of a mat, &c., பாய்முதலியவை முடைதற்கு அடியிட. அடியுரம், s. [prov.] Ancestral property, original stock. 2. Crop of a past year reserved for the sustenance of the following. 3. Manure put on the soil round a tree, &c., எரு. 4. Strength from food, power of wealth, &c.; ex உரம், strength. அடியெடுத்துவைக்க, inf. To begin to walk as children. அடியெதுகைத்தொடை, s. One of the forty-three kinds of rhymes in which the second letters of each line are of the same class, ஓரெதுகைத்தொடை. அடியேன், s. I your slave, your humble servant. அடியோடுகெட, inf. A triangular instrument with spikes, which, however placed, has one spike upward to pierce the feet of men or cattle; used in war, &c., a caltrop. அடிவயிறு, s. That part of the trunk of a tree, or shrub, which reaches from the ground to where the branches begin, (occurs only in composition) thus: கோழரை, a smooth trunk, like the plantain; பொரியரை, a rough trunk, like the tamarind or mangoe; முள்ளரை, a thorny trunk. அரைக்கச்சு--அரைக்கச்சை, s. A girdle, a belt, zone worn round the waist. அரைக்கால், s. The eighth part of the whole, half a quarter, marked , .) அரைச்சதங்கை, s. A string of bells worn by children round the waist. அரைஞாண்--அரைநாண்--அரை நூல், s. A cord worn round the loins to which the cloth to cover the nakedness is attached, or sometimes worn over the inner cloth, and made of gold, silver, &c., called, பொன்னரைஞாண், வெள்ளியரை ஞாண், பட்டையரைஞாண். &c. அரைநலவன், s. [prov.] A bull not well castrated. அரைநாவை, s. A part of the plough which receives the share bent one side and unfit for use, the tip of a hoe bent one side. அரைநாள், s. The half of a day. அரைப்பட்டிகை, s. A golden or silver plate or girdle worn by dancing girls and some other women round the waist, sometimes also by men, இடையணியினொன்று. அரைப்பூட்டு. Girdle, இடைக் கட்டு. 2. A joint of the loins, இடுப்பின் பொருத்து. அரைமூடி, s. A small plate of metal worn by little girls over the private parts. அரையாப்பு--அரையாப்புக்கட்டி, s. Round, black spots in fruits, when they are over-ripe, or spoiled. ஆனைக்கண்படுதல்--ஆனைக்கண் வி ழுதல், v. noun. The appearing of spots, or defects in fruits. பலாப்பழமானைக்கண்பட்டுப் போயிற்று. The jack fruit has got a defect or flaw. ஆனைக்கதுப்பு, s. The frontal sinus of the elephant, from which secretion exudes when the animal is in rut. ஆனைக்களிமுளையான், s. A kind of creeping plant with acid juice--used in polishing brass, ஓர்படர்கொடி. ஆனைத்தடிப்பு, s. A plant, ஓர்பூடு. ஆனைத்திசை, s. [in astrology.] North, வடக்கு. ஆனைத்திப்பிலி, s. Pericarps of Pothos officinalis, ஓர்வகைத்திப்பிலி. ஆனைத்தோட்டி, s. An elephant's hook or goad. ஆனைநெருஞ்சில், s. An insect that lives in the brinjall plant, கத்தரிச்செடியிலு ண்டாகுமோர்பூச்சி. ஆனைமஞ்சள், s. A plant, ஓர்பூடு. ஆனைமதம், s. An elephant's rut. ஆனைமத்தகம், s. An elephant's skull or part of the head, கும்பம். இ. A short letter, similar to I in English, ஓர்குற்றெழுத்து. 2. A demonstrative prefix, சுட்டெழுத்து--as இந்த, this. 3. A termination of the second person singular, முன்னிலையொருமைவிகுதி--as உண்டி, thou hast eaten. 4. An imperative second person singular, முன்னிலையேவலொருமைவிகுதி-as சொல்லுதி, say thou. 5. A feminine appellative termination, பெண்பால்விகுதி-as கூனி, a hump-backed woman. 6. A singular termination, common to the masc. and fem., உயர்திணையொருமைவிகுதி--as மானி, an honorable person--பாவி, a sinner. 7. A termination in the singular, common to each gender, இருதிணைமுக்கூற்றொருமைவிகுதி --as செவியிலி, a man, woman, or animal without ears. 8. An expletive inserted at pleasure, when the preceding word ends with any letter except ய், and the following word begins with ய், சாரியை--as காலியாது, from கால், foot and யாது, which. 9. A termination of some participles, வினையெச்சவிகு தி--as எண்ணி, சொல்லி, &c. 1. A prefix to ஆனைமயிர், s. The hair of an elephant's tail. ஆனைமயிர்க்காப்பு, s. Bracelets of the hair of elephants' tails. ஆனைமலை, s. The name of a mountain in the south near Madura. ஆனைமுகவன்--ஆனைமுகன், s. Ganesa, விநாயகன். 2. An Asoor, கசமுகா சுரன். (p.) ஆனைமுதுகு, s. An elephant's back. ஆனையடி, s. The footsteps of an elephant. ஆனையறுகு, s. A kind of grass, ஓரறுகு. ஆனையறையும்புள்--ஆனையிறாஞ்சி ப்புள்--அனையுண்குருகு, s. A fabulous bird --said to devour the elephant. ஆனையிலத்தி, s. Elephant's dung. ஆனையூர்தி, s. Indra whose vehicle is the elephant, இந்திரன். 2. Ian, ஐயன். (p.) ஆனையேற்றம், s. iracam (p. 48) s. Flavor, relish; what is tasteful, agreeable, palatable, delicious; taste in general, good or bad--also the six flavors. (See சுவை.) 2. Sweetness, இனிமை. 3. Sweet juice of fruits, &c., vegetable juice in general, சாறு. 4. Mercury, quicksilver, hydrargyrum, பாதரசம். 5. (p.) One of the juices of the body, சத்ததாதுவினொன்று. (See தாது.) It corresponds more with chyle than any other, but probably it is fanciful. 6. Pepper-water made of several ingredients, மிளகுநீர். 7. [in rhetoric.] The passions or emotions of the mind expressed by gesture, exhibited in action and transferred to poetry, வீரமுதலியவெண்சுவை. Of these eight are given; viz.: 1. வீரம் or வீரியம், courage. 2. அச்சம், பயம், or பயானகம், fear, terror. 3. இழிப்பு, விபற்சம், குற்சை, அருவரு ப்பு, abominating, loathing at or disgusting. 4. வியப்பு or அற்புதம், wonder, surprise, astonishment. 5. காமம், சிங்காரம், சிருங்காரம், love, sexual love. 6. அவலம் or கருணை, acute sensibility, weakness, tenderness, mercy, pity, clemency. 7. உருத்திரம், கோ பம், இரௌத்திரம், பெருங்கோபம், warlike fury, wrath, displeasure, rage. 8. நகை, பெரு நகை or ஆசியம், laughter, mirth, risibility, great or intense laughter, laughing in contempt. By some, சாந்தம், tranquillity, equanimity, peace, abstraction or the stoicism of the ascetics; and by others வற்சலம், parental tenderness are given as a ninth meaning; இரசம் is added at pleasure with the loss in some cases of its initial-as வீராசம், இழிப்பிரசம், &c. Wils. p. 697. RASA. இரசகந்தாயம், s. Tribute, the fatness of the earth. இரசகந்தாயமாய்ப்பேச, inf. To speak pleasingly. இரசகருப்பூரம், s. Muriate of mercury, ஓர்மருந்து. இரசகுண்டு, s. [prop. இரசக்குண் டு.] A globular glass filled with mercury as a decoration at weddings, &c., also as a charm. இரசகுளிகை--இரசமாத்திரை, s. A quick-silver pill employed in medicine, இரசத்தினாற்செய்தமாத்திரை. 2. [in alchemy.] A pill feigned to be used by a class of persons called சித்தர், now in the world of Indra, who thereby perform supernatural actions--as கமனஞ்செய்கை, or passing through the air to any desired place, சித்தர்குளிகை. இரசக்கட்டு, s. Condensed mercury, சூதக்கட்டு. இரசக்கிணறு--இரசக்குழி, s. A pit or mine where quick-silver is obtained. இரசக்குடுக்கை, s. A little bottle of mercury. இரசசிந்தூரம், s. Wils. p. 698. RASANATHA. இரசபஸ்பம்--இரசபஸ்மம்--இரச பற்பம், s. Mercury reduced to white powder, a kind of muriate of mercury or calcinated mercury, சூதபஸ்பம். Wils. p. 698. RASAB'HASMAN. இரசபாஷாணம், s. A kind of prepared arsenic. இரசப்பிரீதி--இரசமாதா, s. One of the hundred-and-twenty kinds of arsenic in its natural state. இரசமணி, s. Hard globules of mercury prepared by incantations, &c., and worn as an amulet in order to prevent evil, cure diseases, to promote success in undertakings, &c. இரசமுறிக்க, inf. To prepare mercury for medicine. 2. To carry mercury off from the body. இரசலிங்கம், s. Vermilion, சாதி லிங்கம். 2. A case of mercury for a linga. இரசவாதம்--இரசவித்தை, s. Alchemy--one of the sixty-four கலைஞானம். இரசவாதம்பண்ண, inf. To practise the art of alchemy. இரசவாதி, s. An alchemist. இரசவாழை--இரதவாழை, s. [improp. இதரைவாழை.] A species of plantain, பேயன்வாழை. இரசவைப்பு, s. Any preparation from mercury--as a muriate, sulphate, &c., an amalgam. இரசனை, s. Flavor, deliciousness, sweetness, delicacy, சுவை. 2. The tongue, நாக்கு. 3. Juice, sap, essence, சாறு. இரசாதிபதி--இரசாதிபன், s. [in astrology.] The sun or one of the planets presiding over fruits, vegetables, &c., for the given years, இரசவஸ்துகட்கதி காரியாங்கிரகம். இரசாபாசம், A loss of flavor, or of juice. இரசேந்திரம், s. The betel-creeper, வெற்றிலைக்கொடி, Piper betel. இலைக்கொழுக்கட்டை, s. A kind of thin pastry like a leaf. See கொழுக் கட்டை. இலைதைக்க, inf. To stitch leaves together to be used instead of plates. இலைத்திரி, s. A roll of leaf inserted in the perforation of the ear to cure the sore occasioned by piercing. இலைநரம்பு, s. The fibre of a leaf. இலைபறிக்க, inf. To pluck off leaves. இலைப்பாசி, s. A kind of plant. See பாசி. இலைப்பொல்லம், s. [prov.] Sewing leaves together, இலைதைக்கை. 2. A piece of leaf, commonly plantain, to eat from, வாழையிலைத்துண்டு. இலைமூக்கரிகத்தி, s. A kind of knife for cutting the stem of the betelleaf, வெற்றிலைக்காம்பரிகத்தி. இலையறுக்க, inf. To cut off leaves. இலையுதிர்வு, s. The fall of leaves, இலைவிழுகை. 2. An ancient forest, முது காடு. இலைவாணிகம்--இலைவாணிபம், s. Cultivation of, and trade in vegetables. இலைவாணிபர், s. Sellers of betelleaf, vegetables, &c.--one of the eighteen குடிமக்கள். இலைத்தல்--இலையிலைத்தல், v. noun. [prov.] Being tasteless--as unseasoned food, or as vegetable curry, by being kept too long, சுவைகுறைதல். 2. Losing its taste--as the mouth in sickness, வாய் அரோசித்தல். 3. utir (p. 60) --உதிரு, கிறது, உதிர்ந்தது, உ திரும், உதிர, v. n. To drop off, fall off--as leaves, fruits, &c.; to be blasted, nipped, to fall off--as the hair, by disease or age, சொரிய. 2. To be shaken with the wind or otherwise, அசைக்கப்பட்டுதிர. 3. To crumble, fall to pieces as cakes (பிட்டு), பிதிர. 4. To fall as tears, சிந்த. 5. To die (used in imprecations), சாவ. நீசீக்கிரமுதிர்ந்துபோவாய். You shall die soon (a curse). தாரகையுதிர்ந்த. The stars fell. (ஸ்காந்தம்.) பூவுதிரப்பிஞ்சுதிரக்காயுதிரக்கனியுதிர. Let blossoms, buds, unripe fruits, and fruits drop off; i. e. let people of all ages die--an imprecation. உதிர்ந்தசருகு, s. Withered leaves fallen from the tree. உதிர்ந்தசருகுணவொழியவுணவில்லான். He who feeds upon dry leaves abstaining from all kinds of food. (பாரதம்) உதிர்பருவம், s. The quality or consistency of a thing that easily crumbles. உதிர்மணல், s. Loose sand a little moist. இலையுதிர்காலம், s. The season of the fall of the leaf. உதிரி, s. That which falls off, or is separated, exfoliation, உதிர்ந்தது. 2. A disease, smallpox of various kinds, so called from the scabs falling off, ஓர்வைசூரி. 3. A species of plantain, ஓர்வகைவாழை. உதிரிக்குத்து, s. Aching pain incident to one attacked with உதிரி. உதிரித்தழும்பு, s. The pits left by the smallpox, அம்மைவடு. வரகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox whose pustules are remarkably diminutive, like வரகு seeds. சருகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox attended by the sloughing away of the affected flesh. மிளகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox, the pustules of which are the size of pepper seeds. கல்லுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox the pustules of which are very large. உதிர், s. Powder, dust, any thing crumbled, பொடி. உதிர்வு, v. noun. Falling off, &c., உதிர்கை. 2. Crumbling to pieces, உகுகை. 20)

umi (p. 62) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To become chaff, பதராக. 2. To become insipid, to spoiled as food, சாரமற. 3. To decay as flesh, dead bodies, the timbers of a house, &c., அழிய. This word is used chiefly in the past tense. வாழைப்பழமுமித்துப்போயிற்று. The plantains are become tasteless. வீட்டுவலிச்சலெல்லாமுக்கியுமித்துப்போயிற்று.... The house is totally decayed. இந்தமீனுப்புப்போடாதிருந்தாலுமித்துநாறிப்போம். If you do not salt this fish, it will become tainted. சோறுமித்துப்போயிற்று. The boiled rice is become insipid. 78)

urukku (p. 65) கிறேன், உருக்கினேன், வே ன், உருக்க, v. a. To melt with heat--as metals, or other congealed substances, to dissolve, liquify, fuse, run, தீயிற்கரைக்க. 2. To reduce one as a disease, to emaciate, வாட்ட. 3. To afflict, distress, வருத்த. (சத. 21.) இன்சொல்லிறைநெஞ்சுருக்கினான். By sweet speech, he melted the heart of the divinity. (சிவசிவ.) வியாதிசரீரத்தையுருக்கிப்போட்டது. The disease has emaciated him. எத்தனையுருக்கிலேயுருக்கினான்? How many times did it take to melt it? நன்னாளிற்பொன்னுருக்கு. Melt gold on an auspicious day. உருக்கிச்சாய்க்க, inf. To cast or run metals in bars, in mass, &c. for further use. உருக்கிவார்க்க, inf. To cast, found, to run metals. உருக்குகாரம், s. Borax, வெண் காரம். உருக்குப்பிரமியம், s. Gonorrh&ae;a with a discharge of blood, இரத்தப்பிர மியம். உருக்குமணி, s. Solid globules of gold soldered together around a ring and worn by women as an ear-pendent, ஓராபரணம். எலும்புருக்கி, s. An emaciating disease, ஓர்வியாதி. உருக்கு, v. noun. Fusion, melting, liquifaction, உருக்குகை. உருக்கன், s. [prov.] An emaciating or stinting disease--as of men or plantains, &c., ஓர்நோய். உருக்கனடித்தல், v. noun. Stinting or blighting--as disease especially in plantains. உருக்கினம், s. A kind of arsenic, அஞ்சனபாஷாணம். 2. Any thing that facilitates the fusion of metals--as borax. புத்துருக்குநெய், s. kccl (p. 85) s. [vul.] Tenderness, leanness, smallness, சிறுமை. 2. (fig.) A lean man, ஒல்லியாள். 3. [prov.] Very tender fruit, மிகவுமிளம்பிஞ்சு. 4. [prov. கைத்தல்.] Bitterness, கசப்பு. 5. A fish, ஓர்மீன். வாய்கச்சலாயிருக்கின்றது. The mouth is bitter. கச்சற்கருவாடு, s. A small kind of dried fish. கச்சற்கொடி, s. A creeper, ஓர் கொடி. கச்சற்கோரை, s. A kind of grass. வாழைக்கச்சல், s. kṭṭai (p. 88) s. A block, a log, a small stump, a slab, a clump, குற்றி. 2. A post or stake to fasten an animal to, கடாவுமுளை. 3. Fire-wood, விறகு. 4. A short low dwarfish thing, thing grown short by use, worn off--as a pen, &c., தேய்ந்தது. 5. A lifeless body, உடல். 6. Defect, imperfection, inferiority, குறைவு. 7. The refuse or residuum of கேழ்வரகு, தினை and சாயவேர் root after pounding and sifting, திப்பி. 8. Roughness of the beard after shaving, மயிர் க்கட்டை. இந்தச்சீலையகலக்கட்டை. This cloth is narrow. இதுமுழக்கட்டையானசீலை. This cloth is deficient in length and breadth. அந்தமரத்திற்கிந்தமரங்கட்டை. This piece of timber is shorter than that. கல்வியிலவன்கட்டை. [prov.] He is deficient in learning. கட்டைகடாவ, inf. To fasten a splinter or pointed stick, &c. கட்டைக்காலி, s. [prov. vul.] A bear, கரடி--as short legged--and sometimes applied to women, cows, &c. கட்டைக்குரல், s. [prov.] A weak voice, கம்மினகுரல். கட்டைக்குருத்து, s. [prov.] The last tender leaf of a plantain which envelopes the sheath or blossom and shoots out a little before it. கட்டைநெருப்பு, s. Coal fire. கட்டைப்புத்தி, s. Shallow wit, weak intellect, stupidity, தடிப்புத்தி. கட்டையடிக்க, inf. To pass a stick through a plucked jack-fruit to ripen it, ஆப்படிக்க. 2. To hurt the foot against a stump by striking on it, காலிற்கட்டையிடற. 3. To drive a stake into the ground to tie animals to, முளைகடாவ. கட்டையன், s. (fem. கட்டைச்சி.) A short person, குறளன். கட்டைவாக்கு, s. Dimness in a precious stone, இரத்தினத்தின்மங்கலொளி. கட்டைவிரல், s. The thumb or great toe, காலின்பெருவிரல். கட்டைவைத்தல், v. noun. [prov.] Collecting the stones in the hand in the game of கொக்கான். 2. Gaining in the game of singing verses. See ஈற்றெழுத்துக்கவி. முகக்கட்டை--மோக்கட்டை-முகவாய்க்கட்டை--மோவாய்க்கட்டை, s. kṇu (p. 89) s. The joints of a bamboo, cane, &c., மூங்கில்முதலியவற்றின்கணு. 2. The knuckles, joints of the spine or the vertebra, as they appear on the back, யாக்கையின் கணு. 3. The joints or joining of a branch or twig to the tree, &c., மரக்கணு. 4. [in Anat.] Trochanter tubercle, tuberosity, என்புக்கணு. கணுக்கால், s. The ankle, பரடு. கணுக்கிரந்தி, s.
