Dance, play, game, prank, an act of play, a turn-about, a turn, once playing the game, விளையாட்டு. 3. Likeness, the assumption of a character, profession, conduct, shape in imitation, தன்மை. 4. Moving about, energy, vigor, action, முயற்சி. (c.) அங்கேபோக ஆட்டமாடுகிறான். He insists on going there, (contrary to advice.) இந்த ஆட்டத்துக்கெல்லாமவனசையான். He will not be moved by this agitation. அவன் ஆட்டந்தீர்ந்தது. He power, bustle, agitation, harassing, &c. has come to an end. அவனிரண்டாட்டம் விளையாடினான் ஓராட்டந் தோற்றுப்போனான். He played two games and lost one of them. ஆட்டமடித்தல், v. noun. A play among children in which the புள்ளு, or small stick, being swung round so as to fly t a distance, is struck by the கிட்டி, or larger stick. ஆட்டமெடுக்க, inf. To enter on a rash or odd enterprise, to beat another in the above play. 10)

To unburden the mind, relieve one's self or another of a heavy care, கவலையொழிக்க. 4. To reduce, bring down, கீழ்ப்படுத்த. அவனுடையகொழுப்பிறக்கிப்போடுவேன். I will bring down his fat; i. e. his pride. விஷத்தையிறக்கினான். He has subdued, or counteracted the effect of, the poison. ஒருதரத்திலேயிறக்கிப்போடு. Take it all down at once. இறக்குதுறை. To yield, produce, put forth as fruits, &c., காய்க்க. அருளென்னுமன்பீன்குழவி. Kindness which is the offspring of love. (குறள்.) வானமேயீன்றது பூமியேதாங்கிற்று. The heavens produced, and the earth supported--spoken of one in a state of destitution. விரிதிரைப்பரவையீன்றவிளங்கிழை. The ornamented Lukshmi whom the wide billowy sea produced. (நைட.) 42)

utai (p. 60) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To kick, காலாலுதைக்க. 2. To discharge, (arrows, &c.), பிரயோகிக்க. 3. To reject advice, அலட்சியம்பண்ண. 4. v. n. The saviour or protector of the world. உலகரட்சணியம்--உலகரட்சை, s. Protection, or salvation of the world. உலகர், s. Worldlings, those engrossed by worldly pursuits. (தீ. 335.) (p.) உலகவழக்கம், s. Vishnu the measurer of the world, விட்டுணு. (p.) உலகாசாரம், s. Relative duties, the customs, rites or duties to be performed according to the country, caste, rank, relation, &c., of persons respectively. உலகாயிதம், s. A system of materialism, or atheistical epicurianism, அறுசமயங்களிலொன்று. See சமயம். (p.) உலகாள--உலகோம்ப, inf. To govern, protect his country--as one of the duties of a king. உலகாள்வோன், s. A monarch, உலோகாதிபன். உலகியல், s. The customs of the world, உலகநடை. உலகோம்பல், v. noun. Preserving the world--one of the six occupations of kings. See தொழில். உலகோற்பத்தி, s. The origin, or development of worlds. மேலுலகு, s. The upper worlds, which are seven in number, viz.: பூலோ கம், புவர்லோகம், சுவர்லோகம், மகாலோகம், சன லோகம், தபோலோகம், சத்தியலோகம். கீழுலகு, s. The lower worlds or regions; which are also seven, அதலம், விதலம், சுதலம், தராதலம், இரசாதலம், மகாதலம், பாதாளம். மூவுலகம், s. The three worlds, viz.: சொர்க்கம், மத்தியம், பாதாளம். மூவுலகாளி, s. God, (lit.) the sovereign of the three worlds, கடவுள். (p.) மூவுலகுணர்ந்தோன், s. He who comprehends the three worlds, God, க டவுள். 2. Argha, அருகன். (p.) மூவுலகேந்தி, s. eṟṟu (p. 75) கிறேன், எற்றினேன், வேன், எற்ற, v. a. To cast, throw off, to jerk away under-handed, side-handed, &c.; to toss, cast out--as water from a vessel with force, throw water from a pool, a channel with the feet in watering plants, &c.; to kick a thing away, எறிய. 2. To strike, அடிக்க. 3. To cuff, to strike with the fist, புடைக்க. 4. To cut, cut asunder, cut down, வெட்ட. 5. To pierce, stab, குத்த. 6. To kill, கொல்ல. முரசமெற்றினர். They beat the large drum. கூனனையவள்மார்பிலேயெற்றினவளவில். As soon as she had struck the hump-backed man on the breast-துந்துமியெலும்பைப்பறக்கவெற்றியும். Kicking up the bones of Tuntumi (into the air)-எற்றுதிரை, s. Beating billows. எற்றுபுனல், s. A billowy or rippling body of water. எற்றுநூல், s. A carpenter's line for marking boards, &c., மரமறுக்கப்போடுநூல். எற்றல், v. noun. Throwing off, throwing water from a pool, &c., எற்றல்மரம், s. [prov.] A kind of oblong pail with a long handle, supported by three posts for throwing up water in irrigation. எற்றற்பட்டை, s. [prov.] Basket for irrigation by four or six persons. எற்று, v. noun. Casting, jerking, எறிகை. 2. Warding off, striking off, தட் டுகை. ஓரெற்றிலேயெற்றிப்போட்டான். He cast it away at once. 35)

ēntu (p. 79) கிறேன், ஏந்தினேன், வேன், ஏந்த, v. a. To sustain, support, hold up, to carry in the hand--as a weapon, &c., to endure, to sustain a character, reputation, &c.; to support--as a beam, pillars, &c., தாங்க. 2. To raise or spread out hands --as a beggar; to raise a thing with the hands spread, கையேந்த. 3. To catch or receive in the hands or arms, to receive as flowing water, rain, &c., with the hands or with a vessel in the hands, பாத்திரமுதலி யவற்றையேந்த. 4. To hand up with extended arms, கையிலேந்திக்கொடுக்க. 5. v. n. To be elevated, exalted, உயர. ஏந்தியகொள்கையார். Persons of exalted character. (குறள். அதி. 9.) கையேந்திநிற்க. To stand begging with the arms extended. முன்றானையேந்தியிரத்தல். Spreading a corner of the cloth and begging. ஏந்திக்கொள்ள, inf. To hold up any thing. 2. To give a helping hand. ஏந்திசை, s. [in pros.] One of the three varieties of harmony in a verse consequent on a peculiar combination of metrical feet. ஏந்திசைச்செப்பல், s. The harmony of sounds peculiar to வெண்பா verses composed of வெண்சீர் வெண்டளை; also, a verse of that harmony. ஏந்திசைத்துள்ளல், s. The harmony of sounds peculiar to கலி verses of கலித் தளை; also, a verse of that harmony. ஏந்திசைத்தூங்கல், s. The harmony of sounds peculiar to வஞ்சி verses of ஒன்றியவஞ்சித்தளை; also, a verse of that harmony. ஏந்திசையகவல், s. The harmony of sounds peculiar to அகவல் verses of நேர்நேரியற்றளை; also, a verse of that harmony. ஏந்திழையார், s. Women, the adorned, பெண்கள். (p.) ஏந்துகொம்பு, s. The tusks of an elephant, curved upward and terminating horizontally, யானைக்கொம்பு. 2. A curved palankeen pole, or pole for carrying a load, தாங்குகொம்பு. ஏந்தெழில், s. Surpassing beauty. பிள்ளையேந்த, inf. To take a child from another. 2. To carry a child in the arms. ஏந்தல், v. noun. Holding up, raising, &c., one of the three harmonies. ஏந்தல்வண்ணம், s. A poem in which the same words are repeated for the purposes of clearness and strength, ஓர்சந்தம். ஏந்தானம், s. [prop. ஏந்துதானம்.] A hanging shelf, a rack, grate, shelf to set things on, தூக்கங்கள். 2. The hands, or arms extended forward or locked with another's, to carry a child, a thing, &c., கையிலேந்துகை. ஏந்தானத்திலேகொண்டுபோகிறது. To carry on the hands so extended. ஏந்தி, s. A bearer, supporter, one invested with, கையேந்துபவன்--used in combination only. 23)
