uṟuppu (p. 68) s. A limb, or member of the body, parts, features, அவயவம். 2. Body, உடல். 3. Part (of a whole) component part, member, subdivision, department, section, பங்கு. 4. Just proportion, symmetry, அங்கலட்சணம். 5. Abundance, மிகுதி. 6. Bough, மரக்கொம்பு. 7. Closeness, narrowness, நெருக்கம். 8. A copy of single letters set for a child to imitate, மேல்வரிச்ச ட்டம். 9. Title deed, registry, &c. of land, காணியாட்சிப்பத்திரம். அந்தக்காணிக்கோருறுப்புமில்லை. There is no security, title, &c. for that land. உறுப்படக்கி, s. A tortoise, a turtle --from the contraction of its limbs, ஆமை; [ex உறுப்பு, et அடக்கி, from அடங்கு contraction.] உறுப்பணங்கெட்டவன். [prop. உ றுப்பினங்கெட்டவன்.] An ill-shaped, maimed, ugly person. 2. (Rott.) உறுப்பினங் கெட்டவன், A foolish, a witless fellow. உறுப்பற்றவன்--உறுப்புக்குறைந்த வன். An ill-formed, or deformed person, அவயவவீனன். 2. An ill-bred person. ஒழுக்கமில்லான். உறுப்பில்பிண்டம், s. The embryo. See எச்சம. உறுப்புக்குறைவிசேடம், s. [in rhetoric.] A species of the figure called விசேடம். உறுப்புத்தோல், s. A species of deer-skin which, according to the shasters, the Brahman should fasten to his sacred cord, நூலிற்கட்டியமான்றோல். உறுப்புநலனழிதல், v. noun. Decaying or withering--as the beauty of a female, on account of the absence of her lover, அங்கத்தழகுகெடுதல். உறுப்புமயக்கம், s. A prodigy, a monster, one whose limbs are redundant, defective, &c. See எச்சம். உறுப்புள்ளவன், s. A vigorous, well-formed man, அங்கலட்சணமுடையவன். 2. A man of enterprising character, qualified for business, திறமையுடையான். 3. A man of good conduct, அறத்துறுப்புடை யான். 4. A man of good manners, ஒழுக்கமுள்ளவன். காணிக்குறுப்புப்பண்ண, inf. To get a title deed passed for land. அகத்துறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts of virtue; they are eight in number. 1. ஐயப்படாமை, Freedom from doubt and uncertainty. 2. விருப்பின்மை, Liberation from the desires of the senses. 3. வெ றுப்பின்மை, Freedom from antipathy, prejudice, &c. 4. Exemption from illusion, confusion of mind, error, ignorance, &c. 5. பழியைநீக்கல், Freedom from evils. 6. அழி ந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், Restoring the ruined or apostate. 7. அறம்விளக்கல், Expounding or elucidating the nature of virtue. 8. பேரன்புடைமை, Great kindness, or benevolence to all sentient creatures. நூலுறுப்பு, s. One of the members or component parts of a treatise. மதிலுறுப்பு, s. The component parts of a fortification. திருவுறுப்பு, s. A jewel worn by bridegrooms upon their foreheads--a sign of the goddess இலக்குமி. செய்யுளுறுப்பு, s. The constituent parts or elements of poetry, as given in காரிகை, they are six, viz.: 1. எழுத்து, Letters forming thirteen classes. 2. அசை, Metrical syllables of two kinds. 3. சீர், Metrical feet of thirty kinds. (See. சீர்.) 4. தளை, Combination of feet one with another, of seven kinds. 5. அடி, Metrical lines determined by the number of feet of which they are composed, five kinds are given. 6. தொடை, Rhyme, forty-three species are enumerated. சீட்டினுறுப்பு, s. The style or different parts of a writ, or deed, &c. 5)

Virtue is to be preferred before rank. ஒழுக்கத்தவறு, s. Breach of decency. ஒழுக்கந்துறக்க, inf. To apostatize, forsake the path of virtue, to swerve from the rules of caste, religion, &c. ஒழுக்கமாயிருக்க, inf. To be modest, polite, well-behaved. ஒழுக்கமுடைமை, s. The possession of good manners. (திருவள்.) ஒழுக்கவணக்கம், s. Decent and reverent deportment, modesty. நல்லொழுக்கம், s. Good manners, modesty. தீயொழுக்கம், s. Bad manners. கூடாவொழுக்கம், s. Hypocrisy in religion, &c. 9)

kẕi (p. 98) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To reject, expel, cast off, discard, exclude, dislodge, remove, strip off, separate from, detach, climinate, அகற்ற. 2. To evacuate, void, discharge, emit, pass excrements, நீக்க. 3. To except, leave as refuse, abandon, ஒழிக்க. 4. [in arithmetic.] To subtract, subduct, கணக்குக்கழிக்க. 5. To deduct, abate, குறைக்க. 6. To discount, remit, தள்ளிக்கொடுக்க. 7. To cut off-as the hair, to pare off the nails, &c., to clear off, clear away, smooth off--as knots by cutting; to prune, lop off, தழைமுதலியனகழிக்க. 8. To cast off--as exuvi&ae;, கழற்ற. 9. To pass time, spend time, காலம்போக்க. 1. To exempt, release, free from duties--as postage, விலக்க. கட்டிக்கழித்தபுடவை. Cast-off garments. சாத்திக்கழித்தமாலை. Garlands formerly put on an idol taken off before another ceremony. காலத்தைவீணிலேகழித்துவிட்டான். He spent his time in vain. மாடுதின்றுகழித்தது. The cow having eaten enough, rejected what remained. உறைகழித்தவொள்வாள். Glittering drawn swords. கழித்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To make an allowance in another's favor. தீட்டுக்கழிக்க, inf. To purify from ceremonial uncleanness--as after childbirth, &c. வருந்திக்கழிக்க, inf. To pass time in suffering. மலங்கழிக்க, inf. To pass excrement. கண்டுகழிக்க, inf. To enjoy to satiety--as earthly good. 2. To be deprived of appetite by having much to do with food--as cooks, &c. சாந்திகழிக்க, inf. To remove the evil influence of planets by presenting offerings to them, &c. எச்சில்கழிக்க, inf. To purify a place where some one has taken food. கழித்தல், v. noun. The act of rejecting. கழிப்பு, v. noun. Expulsion, rejection, emission, கழிக்கை. 2. Offering to planets, demons, &c., to remove their malignity, சாந்திகழிக்கை. 3. Blemish, defect, fault, குற்றம். 4. That which is refused, rejected. 5. [in arithmetic.] Subtraction, கழிப்புக்கணக்கு. கழிப்புக்கழிக்க, inf. To expel malign influence by offerings. This is done by waving boiled rice, cakes, &c., over the head of the patients after which the materials used are thrown away. 70)

caṇṭāḷam (p. 158) s. Lowness, baseness, meanness, barbarism, இழிவு. 2. A base creature. a vile wretch, நீசன்; [ex Sa. chan'd'hala.] 3. (R.) A demon, பேய். (p.) மிருகசண்டாளங்கருத்தபம். An ass is the basest of animals. (p.) சண்டாளத்துரோகி--சண்டாளப்பாவி, s. A barbarous or vile wretch. (c.) சண்டாளப்பிராயச்சித்தம், s. Expiation of defilement from contact with a murderer, or other base wretch, or from the intrusion of such a one into a sacred shrine. &c. சண்டாளன்--சண்டாளி, s. A low degraded man, a villain, இழிஞன், 2. A man of low and degraded caste, a flesh eater, &c., புலைஞன். (c.) 3. An apostate who has forfeited the privileges of his religion, caste, &c., பதிதன். 4. One born of a Brahmani and a Sudra father, பார்ப் பனஸ்திரியிடத்திற்சூத்திரனுக்குப்பிறந்தோன். 13) *

Mode of existence, natural state; nature of the deity, &c., பாவனை.--Note. This word is adopted in the Athanasian creed for person, in the deity--hypostasis. வேதசொரூபத்திலேநின்றுநான்பிறந்தேன். I was born from the shape (real personification) of the unwritten Vedas. சிற்சொரூபம், s. God--as possessing wisdom. See சித்து. சொரூபசாரம், s. The name of a shastra, ஓர்சைவநூல். சொரூபசுபாவம், s. Nature, attributes, or manifestations of deity. சொரூபஞானம், s. Divine Knowledge, real wisdom, knowledge of deity or of the soul, as obtained by devine aid, and distinguished from விடயஞானம், or knowledge derived by means of the senses. சொரூபன், s. The Deity, He who has spiritual form or existence, கடவுள்.-Note. The meaning is commonly determined by a prefix, as அருட்சொரூபன், he whose very shape is grace. சொரூபானந்தம், s. Perfect felicity. The cow of the gods, காமதேனு. தெய்வசோதனை, s. Providential trials. தெய்வச்சாயல், s. Divine likeness, as in the countenance of a devout or holy person, chaste matrons, &c. தெய்வச்செயல், s. Providential occurrence, divine providence. தெய்வதத்துவம், s. Divine power. See தேவதத்துவம். தெய்வதுரோகம், s. Sin immediately against the Deity, as profanation, blasphemy, sacrilege, &c., apostasy, &c. தெய்வதூஷணம், s. Insult offered to the Deity, blasphemy, &c., See தேவதூ ஷணம். தெய்வத்தாபனம்--தெய்வஸ்தாபனம், s. Inspiring an image with the god represented. தெய்வத்தீர்வை, s. Divine judgement. தெய்வஸ்துதி, s. Divine praise. தெய்வத்துவம், s. The Godhead, Deity, the divine neture. See தேவத்துவம். தெய்வநாஸ்திகன், s. An atheist, but applied by the orthodox Hindus to any one who denies the divine authority of the Vedas, or doubts that of the Puranas. தெய்வநிந்தனை, s. Offence or insult offered to the Deity, blasphemy, &c. தெய்வநியமம், s. Judgement from heaven, divine decree, providential occurrence. தெய்வபத்தி, s.
