The desires of the senses are supposed to be all comprised in மண், பெண் and பொன்--as மண்ணாசை, the desire of land or dominion. 2. பெண்ணாசை, lust or sexual desires. 3. பொன்னாசை, desire of wealth, avarice. ஆசைகாட்ட, inf. kattari (p. 92) s. A pair of scissors, shears, snuffers, &c., கத்தரிக்கோல். Wils. p. 196. KARTARI. 2. The brinjal, egg-plant, வழு துணை, Solanum melongena. 3. A species of snake, ஓர்பாம்பு. 4. The hot period from the twenty-third of சித்திரை, to the seventh of வைகாசி, அக்கினிநட்சத்திரம். This they call முன் னேழுபின்னேழுகத்தரி. There are some particular ceremonies performed at this season, during which the brahmans are allowed to indulge themselves in potions of sherbet. கத்தரிக்காய், s. In most of its meanings, bad or injurious qualities are implied. It differs from கடு மை, in Several meanings. Like that and similar abstract nouns, it drops the termination and combines with other nouns as an adjective, according to rule. வறுமைகொடிது. Poverty is cruel. வயிற்றுக்கொடுமையினால்வருந்துகிறான். He is vexed by want of food. கொடிது--கொடியது, appel. noun. That which is cruel, கொடுமையானது. கொடியகாடு, s. A wild, inhospitable desert. கொடியகூற்றன், s. The cruel Yama. கொடியசண்டாளர், s. Desperate wretches. கொடியபிறவி, s. Vile births--as evils to which souls are subject; horrid transmigration--as keeping the soul from union with the deity. கொடியமனம், s.
