ovvu (p. 84) கிறது, ஒவ்வினது, ம், ஒவ்வ, v. n. To agree, to be congruous, consistent, to be fit, பொருந்த. ஒவ்வாக்கூட்டிலுந்தனிமையழகு. Solitude is preferable to bad society. ஒவ்வாப்பேச்சுவசையோடொக்கும். An unmerited eulogy is tantamount to a censure. ஒவ்வாப்பக்கம், s. [in logic.] An unnatural comparison or simile, an incongruity or impossibility, பொருந்தாத பட்சம். ஒவ்வாமை, neg. v. noun. Unfitness, unsuitableness, incompatibleness, தகா மை. 2. Unlikeness, non-conformity, பொ ருந்தாமை. 3. Discord, disagreement, disharmony, இசையாமை. 4. Impracticability, absurdity, impossibility, இயலாமை. ஒவ்வுற, inf. To agree with, to be like, பொருத்தமுற. இதற்கொவ்வுறாதால். None is equal to this. (பார.) 5)

ōtu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓதினேன், வேன், ஓத, v. a. To recite the vedas with appropriate intonations, aspirations, &c.--being one of the six duties of the brahman; to chant a sacred eulogy in the temple, வேத மோத. 2. To read, learn, recite audibly in order to commit to memory, படிக்க. 3. To speak, say, declare, சொல்ல. 4. To repeat prayers--as the Romanists and Mohomedans, செபமுச்சரிக்க. 5. To give advice, persuade clandestinely, to teach one to act with duplicity, புத்திசொல்ல. 6. To utter incantations, to consecrate, மந்திரமுரைக்க. ஓதாதார்க்கில்லையுணர்வுடனொழுக்கம். Knowledge and good manners are not to be found in unlearned men. ஓதாமலொருநாளுமிருக்கவேண்டாம். Employ your whole time in the pursuit of knowledge. ஓதுவதொழியேல். Cease not to learn. (ஔ வை.) எண்ணெயோதிக்கொடுக்கிறது. To administer holy oil to women in labor. காதிலேயோதிவிட்டான். He has given him secret advice, he has prevailed on him by underhand or secret means. நூறுநாளோதியாறுநாள்விடத்தீரும். The traces of learning made in a hundred days will be effaced by indolence in six. ஓதியிறைக்க, inf. To sprinkle holy water. ஓதியுடைக்க, inf. To break a cocoanut with appropriate incantations. ஓதிவிட, inf. To cease reading. ஓதினநீர், s. Holy water, consecrated water. ஓதுவான், s. A teacher of the vedas, and other sacred literature, ஆசா ன். 2. A learner, a scholar, a student, படிப்பவன். 3. The eulogist of the god of the temple whose duty it is to chant the verses directed by the attending priest, திருப்பாட்டுப்பாடுவோன். ஓதுவானெல்லாமுழுவான்றலைக்கடையில். The scholar must wait at the backdoor of the ploughman; i. e. learning is dependent on the plough. ஓதுவிக்க, inf. To teach the vedas, வேதங்கற்பிக்க. 2. To teach science, instruct, படிப்பிக்க. ஓதல், v. noun. Reciting the vedas, &c. 2. Reading. 3. Learning, speaking. ஓதலினன்றேவேதியர்க்கொழுக்கம். Good manners in a brahman are preferable to the recitation of the vedas. ஓதற்றொழிலுரித்துயர்ந்தோர்மூவர்க்கும். The right of reciting the vedas belongs to the three superior classes; i. e. brahmans, kings, and merchants. (அகப்.) ஓதன்மை, v. noun. The act of reading, ஓதற்றன்மை. 2. Chanting, பாடல். (p.) 91)

citai (p. 182) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To injure, spoil, mar, waste, mutilate, கெடுக்க. 2. To abrogate, abolish, annul, resound, கொலைக்க. 3. (நிக.) To sound, ஒலிக்க. 4. tiṟm (p. 241) s. (a change of திரம்.) A kind, class. sort, division, வகை. 2. Quality, state, nature, தன்மை. 3. Party, side in a law-suit or combat, பக்கம். 4. Strength, vigor, power, force, வலிமை. 5. Robustness, hardiness, compactness, soundness, உறுதி. 6. Ability, competence, cleverness, dexterity, சாமர்த்தி யம். 7. Goodness, excellence, eminence, richness, superfineness, மேன்மை. 8. Opulence, wealth, good circumstance, ஐசுவரியம். (c.) 9. Largeness of wages, dowry, &c., அதிகம். 1. A kind of guitar with less than seven strings, குறைநரம்புள்ளவீணை. 11. Cause, as distinguished from effect, கார ணம். 12. [prov.] Midwifery, மருத்துவம். இதற்கதுதிறம். This is preferable to that. பலதிறமுஞ்சொன்னார்கள். They advised him many times. எத்திறத்து. [prov. v. noun. திறப் பாடு.] To improve soil, circumstances, &c., to strengthen, &c., to enrich. திறப்பிக்க, inf. [prov. com. ஸ்திரப்பிக்க.] To make firm, solid, to harden, consolidate, உறுதிப்படுத்த. திறமானசம்பளம், s. Good wages. திறவாளி--திறவான், s. An able man, a knowing man. சரீரத்திறம், s. Constitution or state of body to be known by a doctor in prescribing medicine, &c., சரீரக்கூறு. 2. Bodily vigor, தேகபலம். கல்வித்திறம், s. Great learning. திறனில்யாழ், s. A lute or fiddle used in maritime districts, நெய்தல்யாழ்த்திறம். 54)

mīcaram (p. 355) --மீசுரம், s. [Tel.] That which is superior or preferable, மேலானது. 2. Plenty, as மீசு. 3. [prov.] Speed, விரைவு. நீர்எனக்கென்னமீசரம். In what are you superior to me? இந்தத்தானியம்மீசுரமாயிருக்கின்றது. The grain is of a superior quality. தானியமீசரமாய்க்கிடக்கிறது. Corn is plenty. 37)
