caṇam (p. 157) s. A short space of time, a moment--as கணம். (c.) (Sa. Kshan'a.) 2. A token of preference--as a spire or two of sacrificial grass to a brahman, கண்ணியக்குறி. (Sa. Shan'a.) சணம்பித்தம்சணவவாதம். (lit.) The predominance of பித்தம் in one moment and that of the வாதம் in the next moment, i. e. varible and opposite symptoms in a disease; changeableness of circumstances, the vicissitudes of the present state. சணப்பொழுது--சணநேரம், s. A moment, moment's time.

cāy (p. 178) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சாய, v. n. To incline or fall towards one side; to lean, to recline, lie down, சரிய. 2. To decline--as a heavenly body from the meridian, or toward the horizon, கிரகஞ்சாய. 3. To repair to, tend toward; crowd together --as a company of men or beasts, to retire, change the course, திரளாகச்செல்ல. 4. To be routed, to retreat, to flee as a discomfited army, இரிய. 5. To incline to wards--as the mind, disposition, &c., to be like in quality, color, shape, &c., மனஞ்சாய. 6. To be biased or prejudiced, to be partial, to be warped in judgment, நடுநிலைசாய. 7. To die, perish, சாவ. 8. To incline--as the beam of a balance by a preponderating weight, நிறைதாழ. 9. To decline from a direct course, to diverge, to become oblique, to turn aside, to deviate, ஒதுங்க. 1. To run ashore--as a vessel, கப்பல்கரைசாய. 11. To lean upon, rest against, சார. 12. To fail or come short in a comparison, தளர. 13. To happen, succeed, நடந்தேற. (c.) பொழுதுசாயவா. Come in the afternoon. இது மேற்கே சாய்கிறது. This inclines westward. சாய்ந்துகிட. Lie down. (in contempt.) இதின்மேலேசாயாதே. Don't lean upon it. உன்பிரயாணம்எப்பொழுதுசாயும். When will you set out on your journey? என்காரியஞ்சாயுமா. Shall I succeed in my undertaking? தண்டுஅப்படிச்சாய்ந்துபோயிற்று. The army marched that way. பழத்துக்குச்சாய்ந்துவிட்டது. The fruit has begun to ripen. [prov.] கதிர்சாய--கொம்புசாய, inf. To bend the head, as ripe grain. விளைந்துசாய, inf. To incline toward the ground, as ripening grain. (c.) காரியத்தைச்சாயவிடுதல், v. noun. Leting a matter take its own course, often to the person's loss or injury. கப்பல்சாய்ந்தோடுதல், v. noun. The sailing of a leaning ship. சாயப்பிடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To steer a vessel with the wind. சாயவிட, inf. To let a vessel run before the wind. 2. To let a vessel run ashore. 3. To run a vessel to the left. See ஏறவிட. சாயல், v. noun. Inclination, leaning. சாய்மானம், s. [vul.] A back to lean against, of a chair, couch, &c., சார்வு. 2. Leaning, reclining, inclining, inclination, மனச்சாய்வு. 3. tacam (p. 221) s. Ten, பத்து. W. p. 42. DASAN. தசகண்டசித்து, s. Rama, இராமன். தசகண்டன்--தசக்கிரீவன், s. Ravana the ten-heated, இராவணன். தசரற்பனை--தசமொழி, s. (Christian use in poetry.) The decalogue. தசதானம், s. Gifts to brahmans, made in the last extremity, as a passport to the other world; or by princes, and other great men, daily; by some also when a daughter is given in marriage, பத்துத்தானம். They are: 1. பசு, cow. 2. பூமி. land. 3. எள், sesamum. 4. பொன், gold. 5. நெய். ghee. 6. வஸ்திரம், cloth. 7. வெல்லம், coarse sugar, or jaggery. 8. நெல், paddy. 9. வெள்ளி, silver. 1. உப்பு. salt. தசதிக்கு--தசதிசை, s. See நாடி. தசப்பிராதுற்பவம், s. prov. more properly. தசபிராதுர்ப்பாவம்.] A poem in the ஆசிரியவிருத்தம் verse, celebrating the ten incarnations of Vishnu, உற்பவமாலை. தசப்பொருத்தம்--கலியாணப்பொருத் தம்--மணப்பொருத்தம். s. [in astrol.] Ten points in which there should be agreement in the horoscope of the bride and bridegroom. 1. நாள், in the lunar asterism or lunar day of birth. 2. கணம், in the three-fold division of the lunar asterisms, தேவர், இராட்சதர், and மனிதர், nine being ascribed to each, and a preference given where both are not in the same division. 3. மாகேந்திரம், in the rising sign, and the fourth, seventh or tenth. (See கேந்தி ரம்.) 4. திரிதீர்க்கம், in the asterism at the birth of the bridegroom which should be above that of the bride. 5. யோனி, in genital characteristics, ascribed to the lunar constellations. 6. இராசி, in the zodiacal signs, in which after the sixth of the bridegroom, his should be above the bride's. 7. அதிபதி, in the rulers of the signs which are the seven planets. 8. வசியம், in the respective zodiacal signs one with another. 9. வேதம், தாலிப்பொருத்தம் or மங்கிலியக்கயிறு, in the astrological circles, in no one of which should both be found. 1. இரச்சு, in lines drawn across the circles in any one of which, both persons should not be found. தசப்பொருத்தம்--செய்யுட்பொருத்தம், s. See செய்யுள். தசமம், s. [prop. தசமஸ்கந்தம்.] The tenth book of Bhagavata. தசமபாகம், s. The tenth part. (Colloq.) தசமி, s. The tenth phase of the moon, in the increase or decrease, பத்தாந் திதி. The ten vital airs supposed to be in the human body. தசாங்கம், s. The ten constituents of a kingdom. 2. The ten parts of a panegyric poem; [ex அங்கம்.] --Note. The constituents of a kingdom are: 1. மலை, mountain. 2. ஆறு, rivers. 3. நாடு, agricultural districts. 4. ஊர், towns 5. மாலை, garlands. 6. பரி, horse. 7. கரி, elephants. 8. முரசு, drums. 9. கொடி, flags or banners. 1. செங்கோல், scepter. தசாங்கத்தயல், s. Its own appropriate season, time of a person's power, or prosperity; or the period when a thing prevails, as rain in the monsoon, தன் னுடையகாலம். தன்குலம்வெட்டி, appel. n. His own master, தன்னிஷ்டம். தன்மூப்பானவன்--தன்மூப்பாய்நடக் கிறவன், appel. n. An assuming, arrogant youth; an upstart. 2. One who acts on his own responsibility. தன்மூப்புச்செலுத்த--தன்மூப்புப்பண் ண, inf. To act on one's own responsibility. தன்மேம்பாடு, v. noun. One's abilities, greatness, influence, தன்பெருமை. தன்மேம்பாட்டுரை, s. [a figure in rhetoric.] Declaration of one's greatness, abilities &c., ஓரலங்காரம், அஃது தற்பு கழ்ச்சி. தன்வசம், s. In one's power. (c.) தன்வசப்படுத்த, inf. To take under charge, to appropriate a thing to one's own use. தன்வயத்தனாதல், v. noun. Independence or self-existence--one of the eight attributes of God, கடவுளெண்கு ணத்தொன்று. (p.) தன்வழி, s. One's parentage, or ancestry, one's relations, தன்மரபோர். தன்வழிப்படுத்த, inf.
