Hypocrites in religion. திருநீறுகுழைக்குங்கள்ளர். Those who put on appearances of piety. கும்பிடுகள்ளர்--தொழுகள்ளர், s. Hypocrites, those insincere in religion, or in courtesy. அழுகள்ளர், s. Weeping rogues, dissimulators, impostors. மாசாலக்கள்ளி, s. A dissimulating, unfaithful woman. 9)

kuḷikai (p. 130) --குடிகை, s., A pill, a bolus, மாத்திரை. Wils. p. 294. GULIKA. and 291. GUD'IKA. தம்பிஒருரசகுளிகையாக்கும். He seems like one who has taken a magical pill. குளிகாசித்தி, s. The power of magic by means of mercurial or other pills, enabling persons to pass through the air instantaneously. குளிகைகட்ட, inf. To make, by a chemical process, pills, common or magical. 2. To consolidate--as mercury, &c., இறு கச்செய்ய. 3. To tie a pill about the body --as an amulet, or medical preventive against poisonous bites. 4. To fasten a magical pill on the body in order to obtain supernatural power, சித்திக்குளிகை கட்ட. குளிகையிட, inf. To insert a pill in an incision made in the body; to check or counteract the influence of poisonous bites, &c., or to communicate supernatural powers. குளிகையுருட்ட, inf. To roll pills. குளிகைவார்க்க, inf. To give a dissolved pill. சித்தர்குளிகை, s. A magical pill by which one is supposed to be enabled to fly where be may please, and perform supernatural feasts. தம்பனக்குளிகை, s. A magical pill by which one is supposed to be enable to suppress, or stop, the natural course of things. 14)

tvir (p. 228) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To put away, remove, dispel, to chase away, to expel, to exclude, நீக்க. 2. To clear off, to discontinue, விட்டுவிட. 3. To check, hinder, interrupt, prevent, frustrate, தடைசெய்ய. 4. To bring to an end, to terminate, முடிக்க. 5. To remit, liquidate, கடன்தீர்க்க. 6. To omit, to dispense with, to free from, கழிக்க. (c.) செய்காரியந்தவிர்காரியம்அறியவேண்டும். It is necessary to know what should be done, and what left undone. குறும்பைத்தவிர்க்குங்குடிதாங்கி. They king, who can put an end to one's poverty. (p.) பொல்லாங்கென்பவையெல்லாந்தவிர். Avoid all that is wrong. (Avv.) சாப்பாட்டைத்தவிர்க்க, inf. To omit a meal. தவிர்காரியம், s. That which is to be omitted. 2. noppu (p. 283) s. [vul.] A slip of ola or cloth, wound round the dugs on a goat to prevent the kids from sucking, ஆற்றின்முலையிழற்சுற்றிய ஓலை. 2. (fig.) Hindering, preventing, frustrating, தடை. நொப்புக்கட்ட, inf. To wind the ola about the dugs. 2. (fig.) To frustrate a scheme, hinder one's design. நொப்போலை, s. As நொப்பு 13)

mṭkku (p. 339) கிறேன், மடக்கினேன், வேன், மடக்க, v. a. To bend--as the arms, knees, &c., to draw in; to fold, infold, to shut-as a knife; to inflect, deflect, refract; to double, மடிக்க. 2. To turn, turn about-as a horse, carriage or vessel; to turn back, திருப்ப. 3. To repeat, மாறிமாறிச் செய்ய. 4. To stop one's mouth by argument, or sophistry; to confute, refute, overpower, மறுக்க. 5. To subdue in war, to repulse, conquer, abase, mortify, கீழ்ப்ப டுத்த. 6. To compress; to check, restrain; to beat--as one ox another, in ploughing, அடக்க. 7. To engage or secure for one's self--as a servant, an article, or a cargo of goods, preventing application for sale elsewhere, வசப்படுத்த. 8. To stop or hinder proceedings; to quash, தடுக்க. 9. To check or suppress disease, நோய்தணிக்க. 1. To repress, strike back, turn off, &c., எதிரெற்ற. 11. To tame, break, or humble, பணிவாக்க. 12. To bring down, to reduce; to break the constitution--as disease, உடற்கட்டுக்குலைக்க. 13. To counteract force, to reduce the power of a medicine or the action of a poison; to check a fire; to mollify, assuage or soften, முறிக்க. 14. (R.) To reap--the seed-sown being multiplied, அரியறுக்க. மாட்டைமடக்கினான். He kept the cattle together in a drove. மடக்கிக்கொள்ள, inf. To secure for one's self. மடக்கிப்போட, inf. To check, repress, subdue, repulse. 2. To tame, பவ்வியப் படுத்த. மடக்கிவிட, inf. To subdue, repress, subject to one's own will. 2. To turn back--as enemies or wild beasts. மடக்கிவைக்க, inf. [in rhet.] The repetition of a word, foot or line of poetry through the stanza, each time in a different sense; considered as an ornament, and embracing, according to தண்டியலங்காரம், three hundred and fifteen varieties, ஓர்சித் திரகவி. மடக்கடி, v. noun. Crookedness, unevenness--as of a road, bank, shore, முடக்கு. 2. Danger, peril, hazard--as from a coast, மோசம். 3. Indirectness, or crabbedness of an answer calculated to deceive; browbeating; overbearing, sophistry, சூதுவார்த்தை. 4. Stratagem, device, craft, தந்திரம். 5. Entrapping, entangling, ensnaring, வலைக்குட்படுத்துகை. மடக்கடிக்காரன், s. A crafty person, one full of devices; a brow-beater, a sophist, சூதன். மடக்கடிபண்ண, inf. To deceive by stratagem, தந்திரம்பண்ண. 2. To confuse by sophistry, to stop one's mouth by dogmatic assertions, வாயடியடிக்க. 3. To entrap, ensnare, கண்ணிக்குட்படுத்த. மடக்கடியானபேச்சு, s.
