Five salts are spoken of as used by alchymists and சித்தாதிகள்; viz.: 1. கறியுப்பு, culinary salt. 2. வெடியுப்பு, salt-petre. 3. இந்துப்பு, a fossil, medicinal salt. 4. ஓட்டு ப்பு, salt supposed to be formed in the skull. 5. அமரியுப்பு, Urinary salt. இந்தப்பேச்சிலேஉப்பில்லை. Salted meat, a piece of saltfish, flesh, &c. உப்புக்கண்டம்பறிகொடுத்தபார்ப்பாத்திபோல.... Like a Brahmanee who has lost her salted mutton [prov.], used when something is lost which cannot to inquired after. உப்புக்கரித்தல்--உப்புக்கூர்த்தல், v. noun. Having a saline taste. உப்புக்கீரை, s. A plant used for curry, ஓர்வகைக்கீரை. 2. A kind of curry made of that plant, ஓர்கறி. உப்புக்குத்தி, s. A kind of bird, ஓர்பட்சி. உப்புக்கொள்ளுகிறது, s. A play, taking a child on the back and crying, Salt for sale, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. உப்புச்செய்ய--உப்புவிளைவிக்க-உப்பமைக்க, inf. To make salt, உப்புண் டாக்க. உப்புத்தண்ணீர், s. cuṟṟu (p. 198) கிறேன், சுற்றினேன், வேன், சுற்ற, v. a. To surround, encompass, environ, encircle, envelope, சூழ. 2. To wind about, enwrap, wreathe, பாய்முதலியனசுற்ற. 3. To twine about, சுற்றிப்படர. 4. To dress one's self, invest, to gird, சீலைசுற்ற. 5. (in cant usage.) To circumvent, get by trickery, வஞ்சிக்க. 6. To whirl, twirl, brandish, சுழற்ற. (c.) எல்லாவற்றையுஞ்சுற்றிக்கொண்டுபோய்விட்டான்.
