If any one have the possession of the house of another for ten years, and this be generally known, the house becomes his. அனுபவிப்பு, v. noun. Enjoying, suffering, experiencing. அனுபாகம், s. (Anat.) Maxillary portion; [ex ஹநு, jaw.] அனுபானம், s. A fluid vehicle in medicine, drink taken with or after medicine. 2. An ingredient to take with, or after medicines, as sugar, &c. Wils. p. 33. Inference, illation-one of the modes in logic of arriving at a conclusion, as from smoke to infer the presence of fire, காரியத்தாற்காரணமறிகை. Wils. p. 34. ANUMANA. Some reckon the following four kinds; viz.: 1. தன்பொருட் டனுமானம். 2. பிறர்பொருட்டனுமானம். 3. அன் னுவயவனுமானம். 4. வெதிரேகவனுமானம். In அளவை the four are; 1. ஏதுவனுமானம், inference of an existing cause from sight of the effect, as of fire from the appearance of smoke. 2. பொதுவனுமானம், inference of the existence of a thing or reality of a thing by the presence of another, which is not wholly conclusive but probable and consistent. 3. எச்சவனு மானம், inference of a past cause from a present effect--as fishes in the rivers show that torrents have fallen on the mountains. 4. முதலனுமானம், inference of a future effect from a present cause-as that rainy clouds will bring rain. Another. 1. பூர்வக்காட்சி, inference of a thing from previous knowledge of its properties--as when we see a flower, we identify it from its smell. 2. அனுமானவ னுமானம், inference from an inference--as when we infer that a man is learned from his mode of treating a subject. 3. ஆகமவனுமானம், inference from the rules of Agamas--as the punishment is owing to former deeds. 2. Doubt, hesitancy uncertainty, conjecture, சமுசயம். அனுமானப்பிரமாணம், s. one of the eight laws of evidence, inference, காரியத்தாற்காரணத்தைக்காட்டுவது. அனுமானிக்க, inf. To neigh as a horse, குதிரைகனைக்க. 2. To doubt, hesitate, சந்தேகிக்க. 3. v. a. To imagine, infer, understand or determine by inference, காரியத்தாற்காரணமறிய. அனுமானிதம், v. noun. uḷ (p. 67) s. The inside, the interior, that which is intrinsic, private, secret, esoteric, உள்ளிடம், 2. Mind, heart, soul, breast, உள்ளம். 3. Place, இடம். 4. As a nominal affix or postposition, it governs the dative and expresses in, within, among, of, out of, inner, interior, intrinsic, esoteric, ஏழ னுருபு. உள்ளிருந்தார்க்குத்தெரியுமுள்வருத்தம். Those of the household only are acquainted with its secret sorrows. உட்கரணம், s. The intellectual faculties. See இந்திரியம் and கரணம். உட்கருத்து, s. The inmost thought, the real purpose or motive, அகக்கருத்து. 2. Cordial affection, உட்பட்சம். 3. The intrinsic meaning of a passage, &c., கருத்துரை. உட்கருத்தாகப்பேச, inf. To become emaciated by disease or otherwise. 2. To be firmly rooted--as disease. உட்குத்துப்புறவீச்சு, s. A species of hepatic complaint attended with convulsions, ஓர்நோய். உட்குயிர், s. The Deity regarded as the life, or identified with the life or soul of each individual, உள்ளுயிர். உட்குறிப்பு, s. Aim, object, intention, உள்ளக்குறிப்பு. உட்குற்றம், s. Innate depravity. See உட்பகை. உட்கூதல், s. Internal cold, chill, slight fever. உட்கை, s. Palm of the hand, உள்ளங்கை. 2. A person who is privy to, a secret hand--as in உள்ளுளவு. 3. Turning to the left in dancing or other movements, இடக்கைச்சுற்று. உட்கைச்சுற்று, s. Turning to the left, winding or turning back wards, or contrary to the sun. உட்கொள்ள, inf. To eat as a god, or great personage, உண்ண. 2. To take food that has been consecrated to a deity, தேவப்பிரசாதமுட்கொள்ள. 3. To take food, medicine, to swallow, take in, imbibeas the earth does the rain, &c., விழுங்க. 4. To receive into the mind, meditate, or reflect upon, மனதிற்கொள்ள. 5. To wish for an occurrence, or to express desires mentally--as a deity or holy sage (the thing desired instantly talking place), திருவுளங்கொள்ள. 6. To have a secret object in view, to have in view, உட்கருத. உட்கோபம், s. Interior anger, malice. உட்கோள், s. The will, determination, internal, or inmost thought, உட்கருத்து. 2. Wish of the heart. 3. Opinion, belief, tenet, கோட்பாடு. உட்சங்கம், s. A select society, a committee, அகச்சங்கம். உட்சட்டை, s. An inner vest or tunic. உட்சமயம், s. The six religious systems of the followers of Siva, அகச் சமயம். உட்சாடை, s. The real object of an affair, the real feeling of the heart, உட்கருத்து. 2. Exposure of secrets by one of a party by signs, இரகசியங்களைச்ச மிக்கையாலறிவிக்கை. 3. The meaning, thing, &c., told or known to one's own party and differing from that which is made known to others, குழூஉக்குறி. உட்சீலை, s. An under or inner cloth. 2. The lining of a garment. உட்சவர், s. An inner wall, அகச் சுவர். 2. The interior of a wall, சுவரி னிடை. உட்சுவரிருக்கப்புறச்சுவர்தீற்றுகிறது. To whitewash the outside wall while neglecting the inside; i. e. to be scrupulously exact in external conduct, while the heart is full of wickedness; to attend to things remote while those at hand are neglected. உட்சூத்திரம், s. The main spring in a machine, any internal power or operation concealed from view, மூலசூத் திரம். 2. A clue, or key to an affair, உள்ளுபாயம். 3. The main spring in a business, மூலகாரணம். 4. A skilfully contrived rule in numbers, &c., நுட்பமான வகை. 5. A short, compendious and subtle method of ascertaining, or effecting a thing, இலேசானவகை. 6. (fig.) Internal meaning of a passage, real object in view, உட்குறிப்பு. உட்செல்ல, inf. To enter, insinuate one's self, உள்ளேபோக. உட்டுளை, s. Hollowness--as of a pipe or tube. உட்டுளைப்பொருள், s. Any thing tubular. உட்டெளிவு, s. Cleverness of mind, freedom from doubt, profound knowledge, அகத்தெளிவு. 2. The clear part of the liquid--as poured off from the sediment, வடித்தசாறு. 3. Soundness--as in timber, &c., உள்வைரம். 4. Inner measurment. உட்டேட்டம், s. The secret object or pursuit, as differing from profession, or appearances, மனநாட்டம். 2. Property acquired and kept secretly, உட்சம்பத்து. உட்பகை, s. Internal enmity, hatred or grudge, rancor at heart with professions of friendship. 2. Internal, innate, or secret foes attached to the soul, causing actions, &c., காமாதிக்குற்றங் கள். (For the six உட்பகை, see பகை.) 3. Hatred of a king by his professed friends, civil conspiracy, அரசருட்பகை. எட்பகவன்சிறுமைத்தேயாயினுமுட்பகையுள்ள தாங்கேடு. Though the internal hatred be as the fragment of a grain of rape seed, the consequent evil may be very great. உட்பக்கம், s. Subject of investigation or deduction in things of a mental, mystic, or spiritual character. See பக்கம். உட்பட, inf. To enter, be within, or under--as in age, உள்ளாக. 2. To engage in, be concerned in, to be, or become one of a party, or community; to be involved in, to be subject to, to yield to, to be obedient to, உடன்பட. 3. adv. Together with, inclusive. மூன்றுவயதுக்குட்பட்டபிள்ளை. A child under three years of age. அதுட்பட. That inclusive. மோசத்துக்குட்பட, inf. To fall into danger. உட்படி, s. A make-weight, உட்ப டிக்கல். உட்படுத்த, inf. To cause to enter, to introduce, அகப்படுத்த. 2. To persuade, proselyte, bring one into, or over to one's party, மதத்துக்குள்ளாக்க. 3. To include, involve, entrap, ensnare, சிக்கப்பண்ண. உட்பத்தியம், s. Abstinence from venery as a regimen while taking medicine, &c.; sometimes அகப்பத்தியம். உட்பந்தி, s. The chief row or table of guests, அகப்பந்தி. உட்பலம், s. Property at command, திரவியபலம். 2. Friends, assistants, attendants, &c., துணைவர்பலம். 3. Forces, army, army in reserve, சேனாபலம். 4. Strength, firmness of body, hardness, strength from food, தேகபலம். உட்பற்று, s. Internal attachment, affections of the heart, &c. See அகப்பற்று. உட்பிரவேசம், s. Entrance. உட்பிரவேசிக்க, inf. To enter, உள்ளேபோக, உட்புக.--Note. This and the preceding word are in use, but not, it is thought, on good authority. உட்புக, inf. To enter, engage in. உட்புகுந்துபேச, inf. To make professions of friendship, kindness, concern, &c. உட்புரை, s. The hollow of a tube or pipe, உட்டுளை. 2. The small folds of a garment, உள்மடிப்பு. 3. (fig.) The secret of the matter, internal affair, அந்தரங்கம். உட்புறம், s. The inside, உட்பக்கம். உட்பொருள்--உள்ளர்த்தம், s. The real meaning, தாற்பரியம். 2. See மடை. உண்மட்டைநார், s. [prov.] The bark of the inner side of the palmyra stem, being the best for use. உண்மாசு, s. Corruption of mind-as உபமலம். உண்முடிச்சு, s. Treachery by which one inveigles another, (lit.) an inner knot, உட்கள்ளம். உள்யோசனை, s. Secret object, project, intention, &c., உள்ளாலோசனை. உள்வட்டம், s. To assume the appearance of friendship for a sinister object; to pretend kindness, காரியார்த்த மாய்ச்சிநேகிக்க. உள்விழுத்த, inf. v. a. To join a person on professions of friendship in order to deceive and entrap him, &c. உள்வினை, s. Malice, evil in the heart kept secret, long indulged, &c., உட்பகை. 2. Inherited fate, ஊழ்வினை. உள்வீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. See சன்னி. உள்வெக்கை, s. Internal heat of the system, உள்வெப்பு. உள்வெட்டு, s. A tinkling ring of brass, put as an ornament on the feet of horses mounted by kings and great men-comp. தண்டை, which is the name of another ornament made of silver and commonly placed upon the former. 2. A pad placed between a load and the back of an ox. உள்ளங்கம், s. Symmetry of mind, the internal property or quality. See அகத்துறுப்பு. உள்ளங்கால், s. The sole of the foot. உள்ளங்கை, s. Fordableness, ford, தாண்டுதுறை.-- The நிலை, (attitudes) in archery are; 1. பைசாசம், standing with one leg straight and the other bent, as devils are said to stand; 2. மண்டலம், standing with both knees bent out; 3. ஆலீடம், standing with the right knee bent out, and the left foot advanced; 4. பிரத்தியாலீடம், standing with the left knee bent and the right foot advanced. (சது.)--Note. Some authorities give a fifth posture, சமபாதம், standing with the feet even. நிலையுரியாய்ச்சீலையையுரிந்தான். He stripped or made himself naked. நிலையைவிட்டால்நீச்சு. If the fordable depth be left, one must swim--videlicet, give not up a certainty for an uncertainty. நிலைகலங்க, inf. To be disturbed, deranged, &c., in situation as a person or thing. நிலைகுலைக்க, inf. To ravish, &c. See குலை, v. a. நிலைகுலைய--நிலைகெட, inf. To lose one's situation, &c. See குலை, v. நிலைகேடு, s. Loss of a situation. நிலைகொள்ள, inf. To come into existence or operation. 2. To continue, to be permanent. நிலைக்கடகம், s. [prov.] A large, stationary basket, பெருங்கூடை. நிலைக்கண்ணாடி, s. A fixed lookingglass. See கண்ணாடி, under கண். நிலைக்கல், s. Bezoar, ஆட்டுக்கல். நிலைக்களம், s. Site, situation, location of a person or thing, இருப்பிடம். (p.) நிலைக்கால், s. Door-post, door-frame, வாசற்கால். நிலைக்குடி, s. Settled or naturalized inhabitants, proprietors of the soil, aborigines, பழங்குடி. நிலைக்குத்த--நிலைக்குத்திட, inf. To be fixed as the eyes at the approach of death. See குத்து, v. நிலைதவற, inf. To fall from one's station or rank. 2. To deviate from prescribed rules, morals, &c., to degenerate. நிலைதளம்ப, inf. To be moveable, நிலை தளர. 2. To be unsettled as a family, a government, &c., உறுதிகெட. 3. To fluctuate, to waver, to swerve, from the path of virtue, அலைய. 4. To be ruined in one's cicumstances, நலிந்துபோக. 5. To be neglected, as one's property or affairs, பராமரியாதுகிடக்க. நிலைத்தண்ணீர், s. Standing water in pools, tanks, &c. நிலைநிறுத்த, inf. To set up, establish one's self in better circumstances. 2. To restore to a right state in religion or morals. நிலைநிறுத்தக்கொடுக்க, inf. To fulfil a promise. நிலைநிற்க, inf. To stand firm in one's principles, to persevere, to maintain consistency. 2. To be permanent, lasting or enduring; to remain. நிலைநீங்காமை, s. Steadfastness. நிலைபரம், s. See நிலைவரம். நிலைபிடிக்க, inf. To get an office or residence, for one's self, தொழில்கைப்பற்ற. 2. To attain the right standing, &c., in religion, நிலைபெற. 3. To reach the goal, குறியடைய. நிலைபெற, inf. To be placed or situated, தங்க. 2. To gain a firm footing, உறுதிகொள்ள. 3. To persevere, to endure. நிலைபெறுத்தல்--நிலைபெறுத்துதல், v. noun. Fixing, establishing, placing, நிலைநிறுத்தல். 2. Rendering permanent, lasting, or durable, நீடிக்கச்செய்தல். 3. Preserving, protecting, காத்தல். (p.) நிலைப்பெறுத்துகை, v. noun. Elasticity, ஸ்திதஸ்தாபகம். (சது.) நிலைபேறு, s. A firm position or situation, அசையாமை. 2. Firm footing, stability, உறுதி. 3. A pillar or post, துண். 4. Final bliss, மோட்சம். (சது.) 5. Honor, reputation, character, மானம். நிலைப்பட, inf. To become permanent, lasting, durable. 2. To be fixed, steady, firm. 3. To become stationary, established. 4. To attain certainty, நிசப்பட. நிலைப்படுத்த, inf. To make permanent, lasting, durable. 2. To establish, settle, fix. 3. To make certain, நிசப்படுத்த. நிலைப்பரப்பு, s. [prov.] An extent or measure of land for grain. See நிலை. நிலைப்பாடு, s. Firmness, permanence, durability, உறுதிப்பாடு. நிலைமண், s. [prov.] Primitive, or native soil, as distinguished from கொட்டுமண், made ground. நிலைமண்டிலஆசிரியப்பா, s. One of the four species of ஆசிரியப்பா. See Beschi's Shen-Tamil Gram. p. 85. நிலைமண்டுதல், v. noun. Making a long stay in a place from home. 2. Sticking closely to a place, as a person, or animal. நிலைமாறுதல், v. noun. Changing place, principles or religion, being proselyted, இடமாறுதல். 2. [in gram.] Being changed in place--as letters, in words, as வைகாசி for வைசாகி, the latter being according to the original, சொல்லினெழுத்துமா றுதல். நிலைமொழி, s. [in gram.] The preceding or antecedent word, வருமொழிக்கு முதன்மொழி. நிலையகம், s. House, abode, வீடு. (p.) நிலையங்கி, s. A robe, a cloak. நிலையழிய, inf. To be unsettled as a kingdom, or ruined as a family, &c. 2. To depart from right principles, as நிலைதவற. 3. To be discomfited, தட்டழிய. நிலையழிவு, v. noun. Defeat, discomfiture, &c., as தட்டுக்கேடு. நிலையறிதல், v. noun. Knowing one's standing, rank, character or principles. நிலையாடி, appel. n. A weaver's swift. நெய்வார்கருவியுளொன்று. 2. Standing looking glass as நிலைக்கண்ணாடி. நிலையாகக்கேட்டல், v. noun. Hearing steadily, attentively, fixedly, உறுதிாயாய்க் கேட்டல். நிலையிடல், v. noun. Establishing, confirming, ஸ்தாபித்தல். நிலையியற்பொருள், s. A motionless inanimate thing. (p.) நிலையில்லாமை--நிலையின்மை, v. noun. (neg.) Transientness, transitoriness, அநித்தியம். 2. Fickleness, wavering, instability, உறுதியின்மை. நிலையில்லாதவன், appel. n. A changeable person, one who breaks his word. நிலையுடைக்கட்டை, s. A pivot. (R.) நிலையுடைமை, v. noun. Stability, firmness. (p.) நிலையுமல், s. [prov.] A large basket for grain, &c., kept stationary. நிலையுரல், s. A large mortar. நிலையூன்ற, inf. To take firm footing, become firmly settled in place, பலப் பட. 2. To become firmly rooted as a tree, வேரூன்ற. நிலைவரம், s. [improp. நிலைபரம். Tel. நிலவரமு.] State, condition, circumstances, நிலைமை. 2. Certainty, assurance, உண்மை. 3. Firmness, steadiness, sureness, உறுதி. நிலைவரப்பட்டவன், appel. n. A person who may be depended upon. நிலைவிளக்கு, s. Lamps placed in a square frame in a temple opposite the door; being stationary, not taken for other purposes. See சட்டவிளக்கு. ஒருநிலையாய்நிற்றல், v. noun. Continuing in a stationary posture. 2.
