kumpakam (p. 123) s. Stopping the breath by shutting the mouth and closing both nostrils with the fingers of the right hand, சுவாசபந்தனம். As a religious exercise among ascetics, it is the power of suspending respiration, thereby securing the attention, as the Hindu metaphysicians think, to the contemplation of divine and super-human things.
