iyl (p. 48) --இயலு, கிறது, இயன்றது, இயலும், இயல, v. n. To be able, be possible, கூடியதாயிருக்க. 2. (p.) To be incident to, be exposed, பொருந்த. 3. To agree, suit, be adapted to, இசைய. 4. To be done, performed, made or composed, ஆக. 5. To be destined, decreed, allotted, விதிக்கப்பட. 6. To happen, pass, to be in vogue, நடக்க.-Note. This word is often changed to ஏலு both in poetry and in the colloquial language. இயல்வதுகரவேல். Do not refrain from doing what is in your power. வெயிலியல்வெஞ்சுரம். The parched desert exposed to the scorching beams of the sun. தச்சனாலியன்றவீடு. A house made by the carpenter. என்னாலியலாது. I am not able, I cannot do it. 9)

kāṟṟu (p. 107) s. Wind, a breeze, the air, atmosphere, வாயு. 2. The wind that passes downward, அபானவாயு. 3. The fifteenth lunar asterism, or nacshatra, சோதிநட்சத் திரம். 4. A ghost, an apparition, a spectre, an evil spirit.--Note. This word is from the third person neut. sing. of a symbolic verb from கால், air. காற்றுள்ளபோதே தூற்று. Winnow while the wind blows; i.e. attend to a thing at a favorable time. காற்றசைகிறது, The wind moves (after a lull). காற்றடங்கிற்று--காற்றமர்ந்தது. The wind has subsided. காற்றடிக்கிறது, The wind blows. 2. The storm beats. காற்றருந்த, inf. To feed on wind--as snakes. 2. [vul.] To be gaping, listless, idle. காற்றாடவைக்க, inf. To air a thing; to expose it to the wind. காற்றாடி, s. A wind-whirl, a child's toy, கறங்கு. 2. A paper kite, காற்றாடிப்பட் டம். 3. (fig.) A changeable person, a waverer, நிலையிலி. காற்றாடிக்கொள்ள, inf. To cool, to refresh one's self. காற்றின்சகாயன், s. Fire, lit. the helper of wind; that which invites wind for winnowing, as a fire. காற்றுக்கழிய--காற்றுப்பறிய, inf. To break wind. காற்றுக்காலம், s. The windy season. காற்றுக்கிளம்பிற்று. The wind has sprung up or risen. காற்றுக்கிளம்பவில்லை. No wind rises. காற்றுக்குமறைவிடம். A shelter from the wind. காற்றுச்சங்கை, s. Possession by a demon. காற்றுத்திரும்பிவிட்டுது--மாறிவிட்டுது. The wind has changed. காற்றுநாள், s. The fifteenth lunar asterism, சோதிநாள். காற்றுப்போகிறது, The air is escaping. காற்றுமுந்துநாள், s. The sixteenth lunar asterism, விசாகநாள். காற்றுமோதுகின்றது, The wind beats or puffs. 2. The monsoon is set in. காற்றுவாக்கு, s. [prov.] Leeward--used when a current of offensive effluvia is conveyed to one by the wind--as by a fisher-woman in passing, &c., காற்றுப் பக்கம். 2. Neglect of duty, சோம்பல். 3. Random, chance, கண்டபாடு. காற்றுவீசுகின்றது, The wind blows. காற்றெழும்புகிறது. The wind rises. காற்றொதுக்கு, s. A shelter from the wind, காற்றடைப்பு. காற்றோட்டி, s. A kind of shrub yielding bitter fruit of an unpleasant smell, said to expel flatulency. It is fried and eaten on some fasts as a mode of selfmortification, ஓர்முட்செடி, Obtuse-leaved hibiscus. இளங்காற்று, s. A gentle breeze. ஊதைக்காற்று--பனிக்காற்று, s. A cold wind, in the dewy season. எதிர்காற்று--எதிர்க்காற்று, s. A contrary wind. கீழ்காற்று, s. East wind. குளிர்காற்று, s. A cold wind. சிறுகாற்று, s. A gentle wind. சுழல்காற்று--சூறைக்காற்று, s. A whirlwind. சுழிக்காற்று, s. A whirl-wind, limited to a small space, and tearing up trees, &c., that stand in its way. தீக்காற்று, s. A scorching, blasting wind. தென்காற்று, s. South wind. நச்சுக்காற்று, s. A noxious air, miasma --as in time of epidemics. நல்லகாற்று, s. A favorable wind. பெருங்காற்று, s. A strong or violent wind. மேல்காற்று, s. West wind. வடகாற்று, s. koḷuttu (p. 147) கிறேன், கொளுத்தினேன், வேன், கொளுத்த, v. a. To kindle a light; to set on fire; to inflame, ignite. தீப்பற்றுவிக்க. 2. To instigate quarrels; to enkindle strife, சண்டைமூட்ட. 3. To play the lute or other stringed instrument, வீணைமுதலியன வாசிக்க. (p.) 4. To impart, instil, or infuse knowledge, to form the mind, அறிவுகொ ளுத்த. (p.) 5. curuḷu (p. 196) --சுருள், கிறது, சுருண்டது, சுரு ளும், சுருள, v. n. To become coiled, roll into itself, or be rolled--as a snake, rope, scroll; to crul, curve, சுருளாக. 2. To shrivel --as a leaf, மடங்க. (c.) சுருண்டமயிர், s. Curled hair. சுருண்டுபோக, inf. To be rolled up, to roll up. 2. To shrink and curl, shrivel up--as meat roasting, any thing drying in the sun, burning, &c., காய்ந் துசுருங்க. 3. tuvḷ (p. 249) --துவளு, கிறது, துவண்டது, துவளும், துவள, v. n. To waver, shake, move, vacillate, to be agitated, அசைய. 2. To be flexible slender, weak, unable to sustain a weight--as a tender tree, or (fig.) a lady's waist, &c., மெல்லியதாயிருக்க. 3. To fall, faint, droop under a load, &c., திவள. (See சவளு 4.
