āṇvm (p. 38) s. Pride, arrogance, manliness, கருவம். 2. Self-importance, self-will, conceit of doing some thing one's self, instead of ascribing all transactions, to the deity; in which sense, it is one of the three evil principles or மலம், in which the soul is involved from eternity, and by which it is excited to the performance of moral actions and kept from union with the deity. These must be subjected and annihilated, for the soul's liberation, by the அருள் of the deity. It is used as a means of benefit to the soul, as the acid in fruit becomes a luscious juice, மும்மலத்தொன்று; [ex ஆள்.] 2. One of the thirty-two kinds of arsenic in its natural state, கோளகபாஷாணம். ஆணவப்பிணிப்பு, v. noun. The bondage of moral evil, original sin, ஆண வமலபந்தம். (p.) ஆணவமலம், s. One of the three kinds of மலம். ஆணவமறைப்பு, v. noun. The illusion or blindness in which the soul is held through the power of ஆணவம், மூல மலத்தடை. 20) *

ēṭākuṭm (p. 78) --ஏடாகூடம், s. [vul.] Disrespect, insubordination, stubbornness, perverseness, ஒழுங்கின்மை. (Sans. Hét'a.) ஏடாகூடக்காரனுக்குவழியெங்கே--போகிறவன்றலை மேலே. Where is the path for a self-willed person? On the heads of fellow passengers. 19)

kiḷmpu (p. 111) கிறேன், கிளம்பினேன், வேன், கி ளம்ப, v. n. To rise in the air or water, to ascend, to get up; to rise above the level, to emerge, to rise to the surface, எழும்ப. 2. To emerge from obscurity, to become illustrious, to rise to, or gain eminence; to prosper, to be elevated, மேலோ ங்க. 3. To grow up, வளர. 4. To be built up, சுவர்முதலியனகிளம்ப. 5. To be excited, agitated, roused, மூண்டெழும்ப. 6. To be enraged, exasperated, irritated, சினத்தெ ழும்ப. 7. To be raised upon one side, பக்கத்திற்கிளம்ப. 8. They set out on a journey. மணங்கிளம்பிற்று. Odor was diffused. கிளம்பியாட, inf. To be stirred up with anger. 2. To act insubordinately, self-willedly, &c. கிளம்பிவிட, inf. [prov.] To agree though reluctantly; to be ultimately persuaded. 2. To leave--as a family for another house, village, &c. கிளம்பினஆள், s. A grown-up person. கிளம்பினவேலை, s. tṉ (p. 231) (oblique of தான். His, hers, its. தனது. (sing. gen. of தான்.) His, hers, its. தன்காரியம், s. One's pursuits, self-interest. தன்காரியப்புலி. One who cares only for himself, a self-interested person. தன்காலம், s. Its own appropriate season, time of a person's power, or prosperity; or the period when a thing prevails, as rain in the monsoon, தன் னுடையகாலம். தன்குலம்வெட்டி, appel. n. Destroyer of his own family, தனதுவமிசத்தைக்கெடுக் கிறவன். 2. (fig. as a riddle.) The handle of an axe, கோடரிக்காம்பு. தன்கொண்டி, s. His own master, தன்னிஷ்டம். தன்மூப்பானவன்--தன்மூப்பாய்நடக் கிறவன், appel. n. An assuming, arrogant youth; an upstart. 2. One who acts on his own responsibility. தன்மூப்புச்செலுத்த--தன்மூப்புப்பண் ண, inf. To act on one's own responsibility. தன்மேம்பாடு, v. noun. One's abilities, greatness, influence, தன்பெருமை. தன்மேம்பாட்டுரை, s. [a figure in rhetoric.] Declaration of one's greatness, abilities &c., ஓரலங்காரம், அஃது தற்பு கழ்ச்சி. தன்வசம், s. In one's power. (c.) தன்வசப்படுத்த, inf. To take under charge, to appropriate a thing to one's own use. தன்வயத்தனாதல், v. noun. Independence or self-existence--one of the eight attributes of God, கடவுளெண்கு ணத்தொன்று. (p.) தன்வழி, s. One's parentage, or ancestry, one's relations, தன்மரபோர். தன்வழிப்படுத்த, inf. To bring to one's party, interest or religion; to proselyte. 2. To connect another family with one's own, by marriage. தன்விருத்தி, s. One's own employment. 2. One's daily occupation. தன்வினை, s. See வெற்றி. தன்னிலை, s. One's proper standing, nature, or state, சுபாவநிலை. 2. Equilibrium of the proper state of the numerous parts of the system, சமனாய்நிற்கை. தன்னிறமாக்கி, appel. n. Determined perseverance in a thing undertaken for credit's sake, தன்முயற்சி. தன்னைக்கட்ட, inf. [vul. தன்னக்கட்ட.] To be just sufficient for one's support. 2. v. a. To defend one's self by incantations, while going in the dark, in danger of wild beasts, &c. See கட்டு, v. செலவுக்குத்தன்னைக்கட்டும். It will be just sufficient for his expenses. தன்னைக்கட்டிநடக்கிறவன், appel. n. A frugal person, one who keeps within his income. தன்னைத்தாழ்த்த, inf. To humble or to abase one's self. தன்னைப்புகழ்தல், v. noun. Praising one's self. தன்னைப்புகழ்தலுந்தகும்புலவோர்க்கே. It becomes a poet to praise himself. தன்னையறிதல், v. noun. A girl becoming marriageable, பருவம்வாய்புறல். 2. Knowing one's self; i. e. knowing the power of the soul--as the ascetic, ஆ ன்மநிலையையுணர்தல். தன்னையறியாதசன்னதமில்லை. There is no want of self-possession; spoken of one supposed to be possessed by an evil spirit, yet retaining his conning. தன்னையறிந்தவன்தலைவனைஅறிவான். He who knows himself will know God. தன்னைமறந்தவன், appel. n. A selfrenouncing person, as an ascetic or a ஞானி. தன்னைமறுத்தல், v. noun. Self-denial. தன்னைவாட்டுதல்--தன்னையொறுத்தல், v. noun. nir (p. 277) A Sanscrit prefix implying negation, privation, இன்மை, as நிர்நாமன், the nameless; also fulness, நிறைவு, as நிர்நாசம், entire destruction. The final ர், often takes the particle உ, as நிரு; sometimes changes to ஷ், as நிஷ்களங்கம், being spotless; to ச், as நிச்சிந்தை, a quiet mind, and to ன், as நின் மலம். See துர். நிரங்குசம், s. Perpetuity, எப் பொழுதும். 4. A monkey, குரங்கு. நிரந்தரன், s. The Supreme Being the incomprehensible, கடவுள். நிரபராதம், s. Faultlessness, blamelessness, குற்றமின்மை. நிரபராதி, s. An innocent person. நிரபேட்சம்--நிரபேட்சை--நிரபே��வுள். நிருநாமன், s. The Deity--as நிருணா மன். நிருபாதி, s. An elephant grown quiet by age, free venereal fury, மதமில்லா யானை. நிருமலம்--நிர்மலம்--நின்மலம். s. Immaculateness, freedom from impurity, மாசின்மை. நிருமலன், s. The Supreme Being, கட வுள். 2. A stupid man, a fool a ninny. நிருமூலம்--நிர்மூலம், s. That which is baseless, or without root, மூலமின்மை. 2. Extirpation, utter destruction, total extinction, பாழாதல்; also நின்மூலம். நிருமூலப்பட--நிருமூலமாக, inf. To be utterly destroyed. நிருமூலமாக்க--நிரூமூலம்பண்ண, inf. To destroy totally. நிருவாசம், s. That which is uninhabited, without occupant, குடியின்மை. நிருவிகற்பம்--நிர்விகற்பம், s. Freedom from passions, emotions, &c., entire tranquillity of the soul by abstract devotion, விகற்பமின்மை. நிருவிகற்பக்காட்சி, s. [in the Agama log.] Indefinite or indistinct knowledge, perception, &c. See காட்சி. நிருவிகற்பசமாதி--நிருவிகற்பச்சமாதி, s. The state of the ascetic, void of all affection, passion, &c., ஒர்யோகநிலை. நிருவிகாரம்--நிர்விகாரம், s. Unchangeableness, as in the Deity, who, in performing his operations is unaffected by them and in the actions of creatures has no participation or contamination, விகாரமின்மை. 2. Freedom from passions, &c., as நிர்க்குணம். நிருவிகாரி--நிர்விகாரி, s. One free from change as the Deity, or as the soul approximating to the Deity, கடவுள். நிருவிக்கினம்--நிர்விக்கினம், s. Freedom from obstruction, impediment, இடையூறி ன்மை. நிருவிசாரம்--நிர்விசாரம், s. Carelessness, recklessness, வேண்டாமை. 2. Tranquillity, freedom from, கவலையின்மை. நிருவிடம்--நிருவிஷம்--நிர்விஷம். s. A plant, Curcuma Zedoaria from which a poisonous drug is extracted, used as an antidote to snake bites, ஓர்பூண்டு. 2. (fig.) [ex நிர், fulness.] A very wicked person, துன்மார்க்கன். நிர்க்குணம், s. [vul. நிர்க்குணம்] Being without attributes, குணமின்மை. நிர்க்குணன், s. The Deity. See குணம். நிர்த்தாட்சிணியம், s. An unfavorable look, unkindness, unmindfulness, கண் ணோட்டமின்மை. நிர்த்தூளி, s. Utter demolition, entire destruction, சருவநாசம். நிர்தூளிபண்ண--நிர்த்தூளியாக்க, inf. To destroy utterly. நிர்த்தூளியாக, inf. To be reduced to dust, destroyed. நிர்நாசம், s. Imperishableness. See நிருநாசம். நிர்நிமித்தம்--நிர்நிமித்தியம், s. Without and cause, முகாந்தரமின்மை. நிர்ப்பத்தியம்--நிஷ்பத்தியம், s.
