iyamaṉ (p. 48) s. Yama the god of death, regent of the south, and king of hell, (நரகம்.) the place of his capital, in which he sits in judgment on departed souls, sending the good to Swerga and the wicked to Naraka. In the latter there are 28,, divisions appropriated to different classes, according to their respective demerits. He is figuratively described as devouring souls for food. He takes the buffalo for his vehicle; and for weapons, the battle-axe, club and cord, நமன்; [ex யம, to stop, restrain.] Wils. p. 681. YAMA. 2. [Med. usage.] One of the two poisonous fangs of snakes, பரம்பினச்சுப்பற்களி லொன்று. இயமகணம்--இயமகிங்கரர்--இய மதூதர்--இயமபடர். s. The messengers of Yama, நமன்றூதர். இயமதூதி, s. emaṉ (p. 73) s. The deity of Naraca or hell, where his capital is placed, in which he sits in judgment on the dead, and distributes rewards and punishments, sending the good to Swerga, and the wicked to the division of Naraca or Tartarus appropriated to their crimes: he corresponds with the Grecian god Pluto, and the judge of hell Minos. and in Hindu mythology is often identified with death and time; he is the son of Surya, or the sun, and brother of the personified Yamuna or Jumna river, நமன். Wils. p. 681. YAMA. (இயமன் and யமன்.) 2. The third fang of the cobra, நரகபாம்பின்பற்களிலொன்று. (p.) எமகணம்--எமகிங்கிரர்--எமதூதர், s. The messengers of Yama employed to execute his behests, apprehending souls and conveying them to Tartarus, நமன் றூதர். எமதூதன், s. The fourth fang of the cobra, நரகபாம்பின்பற்றிகளிலொன்று. எமலோகம், s. The place of the deceased; the purgatory of the Hindus; the kingdom of எமன். எமாஸ்திரம், s. His weapons of which there are three kinds, viz:. 1. கணிச்சி, a trident. 2. தண்டு, a club. 3. பாசம், a rope. 70)

kuḷḷam (p. 131) s. Shortness is stature, கு றள். 2. Wickedness, mischievousness, cruelty, கொடுமை. 3. Fraudulent dexterity, craft, cunning, தந்திரோபாயம். Wils. p. 274. KHULLA. குள்ளன், s. (fem. குள்ளி.) A short man, குறளன். 2. An artful, cunning fellow, தந்திரக்காரன். 3. A cruel, mischievous person, கொடியன். குள்ளனைக்கொண்டாழம்பார்க்கிறான். He at-He attempts to find out the depth (of water) by sending (into it) a dwarf--said of one who employs a person unfit for his business. கள்ளன்பின்போனாலுங் குள்ளன்பின்போகப்படா து. Better is it to follow a thief than a dwarf--meaning it is a bad omen. குள்ளக்கெண்டை, s. A kind of fish. சித்திரக்குள்ளன், s. A dwarf. 2. A cunning fellow, தந்திரி.

tūtu (p. 253) s. Message, communication, errand, notice, tidings, செய்தி. 2. Embassage. embassy, commission, mission, தானாபதித்து வம். (Sa. Dûtya.) 3. (fig.) A negociator in love-intrigues, &c., messenger, ஒற்றன். 4. (fig.) Ambassador, envoy, தானாபதி. 5. A kind of poem representing a lady sending messages to her lover by her female companion, or by a bird, a beetle, &c., ஓர்பிரபந்தம்; [ex Sa. Du. to go.] (c.) தூதனுப்ப--தூதுவிட, inf. To send a message or messenger. தூதன், s. (fem. தூதி, தூதிகை, pl.தூதர், தூதர்கள்.) A messenger, a news-carrier, செய்தியறிவிப்போன். 2. An ambassador, nuncio, தானாபதி. 3. Agent, a spy, an emissary, ஒற்றன். 4. One who treats for another in love intrigues; சமாதானம் பேசுவோன். W. p. 418. DUTA. 5. The messenger who carries the news of a poisonous bite to the magician; by whose postures, gestures, words, &c., the fate of the bitten person is ascertained. 6. (Chirst, usage, with தேவ.) Areca-nut, betel-nut, துவர்க் காய், Areca catechu.--The different preparations of areca-nuts are அலகுபாக்கு or சாலியம்பாக்கு, களிப்பாக்கு, கொட்டைப்பாக்கு, வெட் டைப்பாக்கு, கூர்சீவினபாக்கு, தெற்கம்பாக்கு, ஆரங் கம்பாக்கு. பாக்களவு, s. The measure of an areca-nut--small, as to space, time, &c. பாக்களவுகொடுப்பேன். I will, give as much as an areca-nut will hold. பாக்கிடிக்க, inf. As பாக்குத்துவைக்க. பாக்கிலை, s. As பாக்குவெற்றிலை. (R.) பாக்குக்கக்கல், v. noun. [prov.] Chewed betel cast from he mouth. பாக்குக்கடிக்கிறநேரம், s. The measure of time, in which an areca-nut is bitten, meaning quickness. பாக்குக்கட்ட, inf. [prov.] To play with areca-nuts. பாக்குக்கண், s. The eye of an arecanut. பாக்குக்குலை, s. A bunch of arecanuts. பாக்குச்சாரம், s. Juice or essence of areca-nut, betel, &c. பாக்குச்சீவ, inf. To pare and cut in slices an areca-nut, for use. பாக்குச்சீவல்--பாக்குச்செதிள்--செதில், s. Areca-nut parings. பாக்குச்செருக்கல், v. noun. Being dizzy from chewing stupifying arecanuts. See செருக்கு, v. பாக்குத்தம்பலம், s. Chewed betel as spit out. 2. The red spittle of betel. பாக்குத்துவைக்க, inf. To pound areca-nut, betel-leaf, &c., in a mortar for old people. பாக்குப்பறித்தல், v. noun. Snatching betel-nut from the friends of the bridegroom, by a rival lover, at the bride's house; deemed an insult similar to taking away the bride. பாக்குப்பிளவு, s. A slice or arecanut. பாக்குப்புரையேற, inf. To cough from obstructions in the throat, in chewing the areca-nut. பாக்குப்பை--பாக்குவெற்றிலைப்பை, s. A betel-pouch. பாக்குப்போட, inf. To take betel, as தாம்பூலம்போட. பாக்குவெட்டி, appel. n. A kind of scissors for cutting areca-nuts in slices. பாக்குவெற்றிலை, s. Areca-nut, and betel. See பாக்குப்பை. பாக்குவெற்றிலைக்கூட்டு, s. See கூட்டு. பாக்குவைக்க, inf. [also தாம்பூலம் வைக்க.] To invite persons to a wedding by sending them a present of areca-nuts and betel. 12)
