ēẕu (p. 79) . Seven, septuple, seven fold, ஓரெண்.--Note. Seven is considered a special or sacred number. As a prefix it is often எழு or ஏழ். எழுகடல்--ஏழ்கடல், s. The seven oceans. எழுநிலைக்கோபுரம், s. A tower seven stories high. எழுநிலைமாடம், s. A palace seven stories high, lit. with seven door frames one above another. எழுபிறப்பு--ஏழ்பவம்--ஏழ்பிறப் பு, s. The seven different living beings, viz.: 1. தேவர், supernals. 2. மக்கள், men. 3. விலங்கு, beasts. 4. பறவை, birds. 5. ஊர்வன, reptiles. 6. நீர்வாழ்வன, aquatic creatures. 7. தாவரம், immovable things --as trees, plants. ஏழடிபின்போக, inf. To accompany a poet or learned person seven steps on his departure. ஏழத்தனை. Seven-fold. ஏழரை--எழரையாண்டுச்சனி, s. The period of saturn's evil influence being seven-and-half years. The first post of the marriage-shed when planted on the seventh day before the wedding, a lucky day being chosen. ஏழுகோணம், s. A heptagon, septangular figure. ஏழுதீவு, s. The seven continents. ஏழுபருவம், s. The seven stages of life. See பருவம். ஏழுலகம், s. The seven worlds, including the earth and six supernal worlds. ஏழேழு, s. Seven times seven. 2. Seven of each, எவ்வேழு. ஏழேழுதலைமுறை, s. Seven generations, the duplication of the numeral indicating and equal number of generations both on the side of husband and wife. ஏழ்பரியோன், s. ōccu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓச்சினேன், வேன், ஓச்ச, v. a. To cast away, throw, discharge a weapon, bow, &c., எறிய. 2. To cause to go, to ride, govern, செலுத்த. 3. To drive away, chase, scare away, ஓட்ட. 4. nāṇym (p. 273) --நாணையம், s. Uprightness, honesty, probity, honor, truth, punctuality, நேர்மை. 2. Trust, credit, a good name, superior worth or honor, உண் மை. 3. Extraordinary facts, or supposed facts, in neture, as of the tiger, when missing in a leap, not turning upon the object of his leap; the bos grunniens, when entrapped, making no effort to escape; a cobra retiring from the sight of the நாக தாளி root; the occurrence but once of the small pox, &c;., நிருணயம். 4. Supposed virtue of an action, plant, &c., as the presenting of an herb to the eye as a cure of ophthalmia, தவறாமை. 5. [prov, in combi.] The perforation of the septum of a beast's nose for inserting a rope to guide in, or the rope thus inserted, மூக்குத்துளைத்தல். 6. [prov. vul. சீலம்.] Dishonesty, breach of trust. நாணயச்சரக்கு, s. A commodity of value liable to depreciate from being kept. நாணயஞ்செலுத்துதல், v. noun. Acquitting one's self honorably in business. நாணயத்தப்பு, s. Dishonesty. நாணயபங்கம், s. Loss of credit. 2. Disgrace, as to a woman in appearing before a court. நாணயப்பணம், s.
