carppam (p. 169) s. A serpent--as சருப்பம், sometimes improperly written சற்பம். சர்ப்பசாத்திரம், s. Ophiology, ophiomancy. சர்ப்பசாந்தி, s. Removing the (poison) of snakes--(by charms, &c.) சர்ப்பதிஷ்டம், s. Bite of a serpent, the fang of a serpent, பாம்புக்கடி. சர்ப்பசயனம், s. The hydra-headed serpent as the couch of Vishnu. சர்ப்பந்தீண்டல், v. noun. The biting of a serpent, (lit.) touching of a snake. (c.) சர்ப்பாகாரம், s. [in astron.] The arranging of shells, or concrete numbers, in a serpentine way, so that the inferior kinds or numbers of the lower denominations may form the lower strata, and the superior, the upper one, &c.-opposed to தண்டாகாரம். 8)
