One who does evil to another, an evildoer, துஷ்டன். Wils. p. 42. APAKARIN. அபகீர்த்தி, s. Infamy, disgrace, dishonor, disrepute, கனவீனம். Wils. p. 42. APAKIRTI. அபகீர்த்திபெற்றவன். One who is dishonored. அபக்கியாதி, s. Disrepute, disesteem. See அவக்கியாதி; opp. to பிரக் கியாதி. அபக்கியாதியானகாரியம், s. A shameful, ignominious thing. அபக்கிரோசம், s. Reviling, abusing. Wils. p. 42. APAKROSHA. அபசகுனம், s. A bad omen, துர்க்குறி. அபசத்தம், s. Ungrammatical language, வழூஉமொழி. 2. Vain talk, வீண் பேச்சு. 3. Inauspicious expression, அசு பமொழி. Wils. p. 45. APASHABDA. அபசயம்--அபசெயம், s. Defeat, vanquishment, தோல்வி. அபசயப்பட, inf. To be defeated, தோற்க. See படு, v. அபசரணம், s. Departure, egress, புறப்பாடு. Wils. p. 46. APSARANA. அபசரிதம்--அபசரிதை, s. History of bad transactions, துர்ச்சரித்திரம். 2. Improper conduct, துன்னடை. அபசவ்வியம், s. The right side, வலதுபக்கம். Wils. p. 46. APASAVYA. அபசாரம், s. Incivility, disrespect, affront, irreverence, impropriety, உபசார மின்மை. 2. Non-conformity to the Shasters, wrong conduct, misbehavior, குற் றம்; [ex சர, to move, go.] Wils. p. 42. APACHARA. உபசாரஞ்செய்தவர்க்கபசாரம்பண்ணுகிறது. To return civility with incivility. உமக்கென்னாலென்ன அபசாரம்வந்தது? What injury have I done you? or what reproach have I brought upon you? அபசாரி, s. An impolite man, one who deviates from the Shasters, a bad man, மரியாதையில்லான். Wils. p. 42. APACHARIN. அபச்சாயை--அவச்சாயை, s. A shadowless being, as a deity or celestial being, சாயையற்றது. 2. An unlucky shadow, ஓர்மரணக்குறி. 3. Deduction according to the time of the year from the length of the person's shadow, cast by the sun or moon, in calculating the hour of the day or night, தள்ளுபடிநிழல்; [ex சாயா, shadow.] (p.) (c.) அபவருக்கம், s. Final beatitude, deliverance from births, exemption from farther transmigration, முத்தி; [ex வரு, to leave.] Wils. p. 45. APAVARGA. அபவாகம், s. Inference, deduction, அருத்தாபத்தி. Wils. p. 45. APAVAHA. அபவாதம், s. Censure, abuse, reproach, பழிச்சொல். 2. Defamation, slander, scandal, பொய்ச்சாட்டு. 3. Contradiction, opposition, ஒவ்வாப்பேச்சு. Wils. p. 45. APAVADA. 4. Defence, (in law) replication, பிரதிவாதம்; [ex வாத, speech.] 5. Comprehending fully without mistake, உள்ளபடியறிகை. புலி மனிதனை யடித்துத்தின்கிறதென்று லோகா பவாதம். The meaning of the fifth case denoting removal, ஐந்தாம் வேற்றுமையினெல்லைப்பொருள். Wils. p. 47. APADANA. அபாமார்க்கம், s. The plant நாயு ருவி, Achyranthes, L. Wils. p. 47. APAMARGA. அபாயம், s. Loss, injury, நஷ்டம். 2. Disaster, mishap, calamity, dilemma, இடையூறு. Wils p. 47. APAYA. 3. An unforeseen danger, jeopardy, an unexpected evil, சடுதியாய்வருமாபத்து. 4. A trick, stratagem, scheme, mischievous device, சதியோசனை. அபாயதந்திரம், s. Artifice, trick. அபாயம்பண்ண, inf. To deceive, defraud, act treacherously. அபாயோபாயம், s. Expedient, shift, what is done by hook or by crook, by any means direct or indirect. அபானம், s. The anus, குதம். 2. One of the te vital airs, தசவாயுவினொன்று; as, அபானன்; [ex அந, to breathe.] Wils. p. 47. APANA. அபானவாயு--அபானன், s. Wind from the anus. 17) *

ilaccai (p. 53) s. Shame, வெட்கம். 2. Bashfulness, coyness, shyness, modesty, a sense of honor, கூச்சம். Wils. p. 715. LUJIA. 3. Disgrace, அவமதிப்பு. 4. Trouble, annoyance, teasing, தொந்தரவு. (c.) இலச்சைகெடுக்க, inf. To put to shame or to the blush. இலச்சைக்கேடு, s. Shamelessness, impudence, want of modesty or decency. 2. Disgrace, ignominy. இலச்சைபண்ண, inf. To trouble, importune. இலச்சைப்பட, inf. To be modest, bashful. இலச்சையானகாரியம், s. A shameful or disgraceful action. 14)
சிரி
ciri (p. 185) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To laugh, smile, simper, titter, நகைக்க. 2. v. a. To ridicule, பரிகாசம்பண்ண. சிரித்துப் பேசுகிறவர்களை நம்பப்படாது. You cannot confide in those who speak laughingly. சிரித்துக்கழுத்தறுக்குதல். Smiling on one and cutting his throat at the same time. i. e., injuring one under the disguise of friendship. தன்னைச்சிரிப்பாரைத் தானறியான். He knows not who laughs at him; he laughs at others not aware how much he is despised. (p.) சிரித்தமுகம், s. A smiling-face, a cheerful countenance. சிரித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To express joy by smiling. 2. To indicate approval, or consent by a smile. 3. To interchange smiles--as lovers. சிரித்துவிளையாட, inf. To jest and dally --as lovers. சிரித்துப்பேச, inf. To speak, while smiling or laughing. நாலுபேருஞ்சிரிக்கநடக்க, inf. To act so as to be ridiculed. களகளென்றுசிரிக்க, inf. To chuckle. See களகளெனல். சிரிப்பு, v. noun. Laughing, laughter, a smile, நகைப்பு. 2. Ridicule, பழிப்பு. 3. Jest, fun, பகிடி. இதுநல்லசிரிப்பு. A laughable thing. சிரிப்புக்காட்ட, s. To excite laughter by anticks, &c. சிரிப்புக்கிடம், s. Ridiculousness, shamefulness, exposedness to ridicule. சிரிப்புங்கனைப்புமாயிருக்க, inf. To laugh too much and be too jolly. கள்ளச்சிரிப்பு, s. A pretended smile. கள்ளச்சிரிப்புந் திருட்டழுகையும். Pretended smiles and false crying. சீரழிந்தசிரிப்பு, s. Unbecoming laughter, laughing too much before superiors. 65)
நாணம்
nāṇm (p. 273) s. Delicacy, modesty, shyness, as one of the four feminine qualities. See நற்குணம் under குணம். 2. Bashfulness of some relations toward each other as of the mother-in-law toward her sonin-law, the father-in-law towards his daughter-in-law, &c., சிறுநாணம். 3. Slight embarrassment, in the presence of a stranger or a superior; delicate regard, esteem or respect, அச்சம். 4. Yielding, as a disease to its antidote; shying--as some beasts, or shrinking--as some plants from the touch, கூச்சம். (c.) நாணங்கெட்டவன், appel. n. A man devoid of shame. நாணக்கேடு, v. noun. Impudence, immodesty, shamefulness. நாணப்படுதல், v. noun. Being shamefaced, bashful, modest, &c., வெட்கப்படுதல். அவருடையசொல்லுக்கு இவன்நாணப்படுவான். He has respect for the gentleman's word. 76) *
புழு
puẕu (p. 327) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To breed as worms, maggots, mites, &c., புழுச் செனிக்க. 2. To be eaten by worms, புழுத்துப் போக. 3. [fig. in combin.] To be superabundant, as fruits, &c., மிக. 4. [vul.] To abuse, துஷிக்க. (c.) அவனென்னைப்புழுத்தபாட்டப்பாடுகிறான்..... He abuses me shamefully. இந்தவருஷம்பலாக்காயாய்ப்புழுத்துப்போயிற்று. The jack fruit is abundant this year. இரண்டுபெண்டாட்டிக்காரன்புழுத்துச்செத்தான்.... வெட்கம்
veṭkm (p. 399) s. [vul. வெக்கம்.] Shame, modesty, bashfulness, நாணம். (c.) ஏன்வெட்கப்படுகிறாய். Why are you bashful? வெட்கக்கேடு, v. noun. [appel. வெட்கங் கெட்டவன்.] Shamelessness, absence of shame. வெட்கங்கெடுக்க, inf. To treat one shamefully. வெட்கஞ்சிக்கி, s. Want of modesty. See சிக்கி. வெட்கப்பட, inf. To be ashamed, to feel shame, to be bashful. வெட்கப்படுத்த, inf. To put one to shame, to disgrace. 21)
