kiẕi (p. 111) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To part, to be slit, rent in shreds, or torn; to be parted --as land by ploughing, &c., துண்டாகக்கிழிய. 2. To part asunder, to separate, இரண்டாக க்கிழிய. 3. To be defeated, to be disappointed, to meet with ill success, to come to nothing, வாயாதுகெட. காரியங்கிழிந்துபோயிற்று--கிழிகிழிந்துபோயிற்று.... The affair is come to nothing. 2. He turns out to be nothing. அவர்கிழிந்தார். He is disconcerted; i.e. can do nothing. (Abusive.) கிழிந்துபோக, inf. To be rent or torn; to go in pieces. கிழிவு, v. noun. [prov.] To stand or walk, holding by a line attached to a beam--as a woman in labor, a sick person, &c. கொடிகட்டிவாழ, inf. To hoist a flag, in token of prosperity and honor. கொடிக்கள்ளி, s. A small species of கள்ளி milk-hedge. கொடிக்கால், s. Stakes, sticks, set to support betel-plants. 2. Betel-runners or tendrils. கொடிக்கால்வெள்ளாளன், s. A medicinal bushy creeper, the juice of which is used to thicken butter-milk, Cassyta filiformis. கொடிச்சண்பகம், s. A creeper with a very fragrant flower, a species of சண்ப கம். which see. கொடிச்சுற்றிக்கொண்டுபிறக்க, inf. To be born with the cord of the placenta round the neck--deemed ominous to the maternal uncle. கொடிச்சூரை, s. A creeper species of சூரை. கொடித்திரும்ப, inf. To pass the meridian--spoken of the sun or other heavenly body. கொடித்திரும்பினவுடனே. [prov.] As soon as the sun has passed the meridian. கொடித்தட்டு, v. noun. A contention with tow paper kites to see which will cut the other. கொடித்தக்காளி, s. A kind of creeping plant, ஓர்செடி. கொடித்திருப்பாடகம், s. A foot ornament of women, மாதர்காலணியிலொன்று. கொடித்துத்தி, s. A medicinal spreading shrub. See துத்தி. கொடித்தூக்க, inf. To hoist a flag. கொடிநரம்பு, s. Prominent veins. கொடிநாய், s. A grey-hound, சோணங் கிநாய். கொடிநாவல், s. A kind of நாவல் tree. கொடிநெட்டி, s. The sensitive plant. கொடிபறத்தல், v. noun. The displaying of a flag; a term used for asserting dominion. கொடிபோட, inf. To hoist a flag or standard--as a conquerer; or as a signal for battle. 2. (fig.) To be firmly determined on a thing. கொடிப்பசளை--கொடிவயலை--கொடி வசளை, s. A creeper whose leaves are edible. Flowers of creepers--one of the four varieties. see பூ. கொடிமரம்--கொடித்தம்பம்--கொடிக் கம்பம், s. A flag-staff. கொடிமல்லிகை, s. A running jasmine. கொடிமாதளை, s. A kind of pomegranate. கொடிமாடு, s. A bullock lank and long. கொடிமுடி, s. A shrubby plant whose branches intertwine. கொடிமுடிந்தவழக்கு, s. An intricate law-suit. கொடிமுடியன், s. [prov.] A dangerous snake, long and small, with a large flat head--as கொம்பேறிமூக்கன். கொடிமுந்திரிகை, s. The vine, grapevine, திராட்சக்கொடி. கொடிமுறுக்கு, s. Twist. கொடியத்தி, s. A kind of fig-tree growing near rivers with slender branches. கொடியரசு, s. A tree, ஓரரசு. கொடியறுகு, s. A kind of grass. கொடியாடு, s. A long legged goat. கொடியால், s.
