aṭi (p. 8) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To beat, lash, smite, scourge, stamp, blow or beat as wind, வீச. 2. To defeat, overcome, wash away, carry away as waves, flowing water, &c., to flap, (as with wings) மோத. 3. [vul.] To kill, slay, slaughter, கொல்ல. 4. To fasten, make firm, drive in, அறைய. 5. To act with force and energy, make thorough work of, முயற் சியுடன்செய்ய. 6. v. n. To emit as a scent, வாசனையடிக்க--Note. This word joined to other verbs increases their intensity, as, மழையடித்துப்பெய்கிறது, It rains very hard. பேச்சிலேயடித்துவிட்டான், He confuted by argument,--spoke with fluency and overwhelming eloquence. அடித்துச்சொல்லிக்கொண் டுபோ, Speak fast, forcibly, fluently, &c. Added to neuter infinitives, it makes them active, as, சிதறடிக்க, to disperse. அடிகாற்று, s. [prov.] A very powerful wind, a strong gale, a tempest. அடித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To beat one's self. அவனுக்கு அதிஷ்டம் அடிக்கிறது. Good fortune abounds to him. 4)

A murderer, an assassin. 2. An executioner. 3. A killer, slaughterer, butcher. கொலைக்களம், s. A place of public execution. கொலைசூழ--கொலைசுற்ற, inf. To contrive or compass one's death. (p.) 2. To find out the guilt of murder. கொலைசெய்ய, inf. To kill, slay; to commit murder, take away life, to butcher. கொலைஞர், s. Assassins, murderers, killers, butchers, கொலைபாதகர். 2. Hunters; those who live by the chase, வேடர். (p.) கொலைபாதகம், s. The crime or guilt of murder; taking away life, human or other--chiefly of men or cows; one of the five heinous sins. See பாதகம். கொலைபாதகன், s. A heinous killer, or murderer. கொலைப்பழி, s. The blame or guilt of murder. கொலைமறுத்தல், v. noun. Denouncing all killing. This is scrupulously done by Jainas under all circumstances. கொலையுண்ண, inf. To be killed. 109)

koẕu (p. 146) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To grow fat, to fatten, to become corpulent; to be full, plump, sleek, மதர்க்க. 2. To grow too luxuriantly, so as to be unproductive; to be rank, மதர்த்துத்தழைக்க. 3. To be too rich--as land, தழைத்துச்செழிக்க. 4. To be saucy, insolent, impertinent, மேட் டிமைகொள்ள. நண்டுகொழுத்தால்வளையிலிராது. A crab grown fat will not stay in its hole. கொழுத்தவன்கைக்கு இளைத்தவன் துரும்பு. A lean man in the hand of a fat man is like a straw. கொழுகொம்பு--கொழுக்கொம்பு, s. Sticks, poles, &c., for supporting climbing plants, கொடியேறுகொம்பு. 2. [local.] A central, straight, lofty branch of a tree, நடுக்கொம்பு. 3. (fig.) A help, a support or aid, தஞ்சம். கொழுக்கவிட, inf. To fatten animals for slaughter. கொழுத்தசாப்பாடு, s. Delicate, rich food. 2. [loc.] As கொழுத்தபூசை. கொழுத்தபூசை, s. [prov.] Severe punishment. கொழுத்தாடுபிடித்தல், v. noun. To act the part of a tale-bearer, to slander, to divulge secrets injuriously. கோளன், s. A tale-bearer, கோளுரைப் போன். கோள்குண்டணி, s. Tale-bearing and calumny. (c.) கோள்முடிய, inf.
