ūṟu (p. 71) s. Touch, feeling, sensation, தீண்டுகை. 2. Misfortune, obstacle, disaster, mishap, இடையூறு. 3. A scar, a wound, a maim, a hurt, or injury inflicted by violence, காயம். 4. Killing, murder, கொலை. 5. Evil, mischief, blight, தீமை; [ex உறு.] (p.) --Note. There are eight kinds of ஊறு or sensations given, viz.: 1. வெம்மை, heat. 2. தண்மை, cold. 3. மேன்மை, Softness, thinness, fineness. 4. வன்மை, hardness. 5. நொய்மை, slenderness, tenuity. 6. சீர்மை. smoothness. 7. இழுமெனல், slipperiness, 8. சருச்சரை, roughness, unevenness. ஊறுகாட்டினர்க்கு. To those who inflict wounds, &c. ஊறுகொள்ள, inf. To receive a hurt, suffer violence, காயங்கொள்ள. (இ ராமா.) ஊறுகோள், s. Injury, violence, wounds inflicted, காயம். 2. Murder, கொ லை. (p.) ஊறுபாடு, s. Wounds, scars, காயம். 2. Injury, damage, violence, தீமை. 3. The four ways of inflicting injury, viz.: எறிதல், குத்தல், வெட்டல் and எய்தல். ஊறுவைக்க, inf. To cause a mark, or scar--as with the nails, teeth, &c.; to wound. 9)

ciṟumai (p. 189) s. Smallness, littleness, diminutiveness, அற்பம். 2. Want, indigence, misery, wretchedness, poverty, adversity, தரித்திரம். 3. Oppression, suffering, துன்பம். 4. Disease, நோய். 5. Inferiority, youth, minority, இளமை. 6. Scantiness, paucity, fewness, scarceness, குறைவு. 7. Failure, swerving from a virtuous, or religious course and consequent disgrace, இழிவு. 8. Insignificance, paltriness, frivolousness, எளிமை. 9. Fineness, minuteness, delicateness, slenderness, நொய்மை. 1. Low parentage, obscurity of birth, இழிபிறப்பு. (c.) சிறுமைபட, inf. To be poor, to be in adversity or in depressed circumstances. 2. To be a mean, degraded, beggarly object--oppo. to பெருமை. 3. To be oppressed. சிறுமைபடுத்த, inf. To impoverish; to debase, degrade. சிறுமையர், s. The low, the base, கீழ் மக்கள். (p.) சிறுமையிற்கல்விசிலையிலெழுத்து. Learning in youth is as durable as engraving in stone. என்சிறுமைசொல்லிமுடியாது. My poverty is inexpressible. சிறுமையிலடிபட்டவன். One tossed about by poverty, &c. சிறுமையும் பெருமையுமவனவன் செய்வினையால் வரும். Moral elevation or degradation is consequent on one's moral or immoral conduct. 57)

nuṇmai (p. 277) s. Fineness, smallness, slenderness, nicety, நேர்த்தி. 2. Exquisiteness in workmanship, &c., வேலைத்திறம். 3. Minuteness, நுட்பம். 4.Sharpness, acuteness, penetration, discrimination, கூர்மை. 5. Abstruseness of a subject, or of an idea, ஆழ்ந்ததன்மை. நுண்மைநுகரேல். Be not nice in food. நுண்மையானவேலை, s.
